Jonah 4

  1 H3415 [H8799] But it displeased H3124 Jonah H1419 H7451 exceedingly, H2734 [H8799] and he was very angry.

  2 H6419 [H8691] And he prayed H3068 to the LORD, H559 [H8799] and said, H577 I pray H3068 thee, O LORD, H1697 was not this my saying, H127 when I was yet in my country? H1272 [H8800] Therefore I fled H6923 [H8765] before H8659 to Tarshish: H3045 [H8804] for I knew H2587 that thou art a gracious H410 God, H7349 and full of compassion, H750 slow H639 to anger, H7227 and of great H2617 mercy, H5162 [H8737] and sighest H7451 of the evil.

  3 H3068 Therefore now, O LORD, H3947 [H8798] take, H5315 I beseech thee, my breath H2896 from me; for it is better H4194 for me to die H2416 than to live.

  4 H559 [H8799] Then said H3068 the LORD, H3190 [H8687] Doest thou well H2734 [H8804] to be angry?

  5 H3124 So Jonah H3318 [H8799] went out H5892 of the city, H3427 [H8799] and sat H6924 on the east side H5892 of the city, H6213 [H8799] and there made H5521 him a booth, H3427 [H8799] and sat H6738 under it in the shadow, H7200 [H8799] till he might see H5892 what would become of the city.

  6 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H4487 [H8762] prepared H7021 a gourd, H5927 [H8799] and made it to come up H3124 over Jonah, H6738 that it might be a shade H7218 over his head, H5337 [H8687] to deliver H7451 him from his evil. H3124 So Jonah H1419 H8057 was exceeding H8055 [H8799] glad H7021 of the gourd.

  7 H430 But God H4487 [H8762] prepared H8438 a worm H7837 when the morning H5927 [H8800] rose H4283 the next day, H5221 [H8686] and it smote H7021 the gourd H3001 [H8799] that it withered.

  8 H8121 And it came to pass, when the sun H2224 [H8800] rose, H430 that God H4487 [H8762] prepared H2759 a vehement H6921 east H7307 wind; H8121 and the sun H5221 [H8686] beat H7218 upon the head H3124 of Jonah, H5968 [H8691] that he fainted, H7592 [H8799] and wished H5315 in his breath H4191 [H8800] to die, H559 [H8799] and said, H2896 It is better H4194 for me to die H2416 than to live.

  9 H430 And God H559 [H8799] said H3124 to Jonah, H3190 [H8687] Doest thou well H2734 [H8804] to be angry H7021 for the gourd? H559 [H8799] And he said, H3190 [H8687] I do well H2734 [H8804] to be angry, H4194 even to death.

  10 H559 [H8799] Then said H3068 the LORD, H2347 [H8804] Thou hast had pity H7021 on the gourd, H5998 [H8804] for which thou hast not laboured, H1431 [H8765] neither made it grow; H1121 H3915 which came up in a night, H6 [H8804] and perished H1121 H3915 in a night:

  11 H2347 [H8799] And should not I spare H5210 Nineveh, H1419 that great H5892 city, H3426 in which are H7235 [H8687] more H8147 H6240 than an hundred and twenty H7239 thousand H120 persons H3045 [H8804] that cannot discern H3225 between their right hand H8040 and their left hand; H7227 and also many H929 cattle?
