Joshua 22:11-34 And the sons of Israel heard it said, Behold, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the border of the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, on the side belonging to the sons of Israel.

11 H1121 And the sons H3478 of Israel H8085 [H8799] heard H559 [H8800] it said, H1121 Behold, the sons H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the sons H1410 of Gad H2677 and the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh H1129 [H8804] have built H4196 an altar H4136 at the border of H776 the land H3667 of Canaan, H1552 in the borders H3383 of Jordan, H5676 on the side belonging H1121 to the sons H3478 of Israel.

12 H1121 And when the sons H3478 of Israel H8085 [H8799] heard H3605 of it, the whole H5712 company H1121 of the sons H3478 of Israel H6950 [H8735] congregated themselves H7887 at Shiloh, H5927 [H8800] to go up H6635 to war against them.

13 H1121 And the sons H3478 of Israel H7971 [H8799] sent H1121 to the sons H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and to the sons H1410 of Gad, H2677 and to the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh, H776 into the land H1568 of Gilead, H6372 Phinehas H1121 the son H499 of Eleazar H3548 the priest,

14 H6235 And with him ten H5387 princes, H259 of each H5387 chief H1004 house H1 a prince H4294 throughout all the tribes H3478 of Israel; H376 and each one H7218 was an head H1004 of the house H1 of their fathers H505 among the thousands H3478 of Israel.

15 H935 [H8799] And they came H1121 to the sons H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and to the sons H1410 of Gad, H2677 and to the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh, H776 to the land H1568 of Gilead, H1696 [H8762] and they spoke H559 [H8800] with them, saying,

16 H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3605 the whole H5712 company H3068 of the LORD, H4604 What treachery H4603 [H8804] is this that ye have committed H430 against the God H3478 of Israel, H7725 [H8800] to turn away H3117 this day H310 from following H3068 the LORD, H1129 [H8800] in that ye have built H4196 you an altar, H4775 [H8800] that ye might rebel H3117 this day H3068 against the LORD?

17 H5771 Is the perversity H6465 of Peor H4592 too little H2891 [H8694] for us, from which we are not cleansed H3117 until this day, H5063 although there was a plague H5712 in the company H3068 of the LORD,

18 H7725 [H8799] But that ye must turn away H3117 this day H310 from following H3068 the LORD? H4775 [H8799] and it will be, seeing ye rebel H3117 to day H3068 against the LORD, H4279 that to morrow H7107 [H8799] he will burst out in rage H3605 towards H3605 the whole H5712 company H3478 of Israel.

19 H389 However, H776 if the land H272 of your possession H2931 is unclean, H5674 [H8798] then pass ye over H776 to the land H272 of the possession H3068 of the LORD, H3068 in which the LORD'S H4908 tabernacle H7931 [H8804] dwelleth, H270 [H8734] and take possession H8432 among H4775 [H8799] us: but rebel H3068 not against the LORD, H408 nor H4775 [H8799] rebel H1129 [H8800] against us, in building H4196 you an altar H1107 besides H4196 the altar H3068 of the LORD H430 our God.

20 H5912 Did not Achan H1121 the son H2226 of Zerah H4603 [H8804] commit H4604 a treachery H2764 in the secluded thing, H7110 and splintering rage H1961 [H8804] fall H5921 upon H3605 all H5712 the company H3478 of Israel? H376 and that man H1478 [H8804] expired H259 not alone H5771 in his perversity.

21 H1121 Then the sons H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the sons H1410 of Gad H2677 and the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh H6030 [H8799] answered, H1696 [H8762] and said H7218 to the heads H505 of the thousands H3478 of Israel,

22 H3068 The LORD H410 God H430 of gods, H3068 the LORD H410 God H430 of gods, H3045 [H8802] he knoweth, H3478 and Israel H3045 [H8799] he shall know; H4777 if it is in rebellion, H4604 or if in treachery H3068 against the LORD, H3467 [H8686] (liberate H3117 us not this day,)

23 H1129 [H8800] That we have built H4196 us an altar H7725 [H8800] to turn H310 from following H3068 the LORD, H5927 [H8687] or if to offer H5930 on it burnt offering H4503 or meat offering, H6213 [H8800] or if to offer H8002 peace H2077 offerings H3068 on it, let the LORD H1245 [H8762] himself require it;

24 H6213 [H8804] And if we have not rather done H1674 it for anxiety H1697 of this thing, H559 [H8800] saying, H4279 In time to come H1121 your sons H559 [H8799] may speak H1121 to our sons, H559 [H8800] saying, H3068 What have ye to do with the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel?

25 H3068 For the LORD H5414 [H8804] hath made H3383 Jordan H1366 a border H1121 between us and you, ye sons H7205 of Reuben H1121 and sons H1410 of Gad; H2506 ye have no part H3068 in the LORD: H1121 so shall your sons H7673 0 make H1121 our sons H7673 [H8689] cease H1115 from H3372 [H8800] fearing H3068 the LORD.

26 H559 [H8799] Therefore we said, H6213 [H8799] Let us now prepare H1129 [H8800] to build H4196 us an altar, H5930 not for burnt offering, H2077 nor for sacrifice:

27 H5707 But that it may be a witness H1755 between us, and you, and our generations H310 after H5647 [H8800] us, that we may do H5656 the service H3068 of the LORD H6440 at the face of H5930 him with our burnt offerings, H2077 and with our sacrifices, H8002 and with our peace offerings; H1121 that your sons H559 [H8799] may not say H1121 to our sons H4279 in time to come, H2506 Ye have no part H3068 in the LORD.

28 H559 [H8799] Therefore said H559 [H8799] we, that it shall be, when they shall so say H1755 to us or to our generations H4279 in time to come, H559 [H8804] that we may say, H7200 [H8798] Behold H8403 the pattern H4196 of the altar H3068 of the LORD, H1 which our fathers H6213 [H8804] made, H5930 not for burnt offerings, H2077 nor for sacrifices; H5707 but it is a witness between us and you.

29 H2486 Far be it from us H4775 [H8800] that we should rebel H3068 against the LORD, H7725 [H8800] and turn H3117 this day H310 from following H3068 the LORD, H1129 [H8800] to build H4196 an altar H5930 for burnt offerings, H4503 for meat offerings, H2077 or for sacrifices, H4196 besides the altar H3068 of the LORD H430 our God H6440 that is at the face of H4908 his tabernacle.

30 H6372 And when Phinehas H3548 the priest, H5387 and the princes H5712 of the company H7218 and heads H505 of the thousands H3478 of Israel H8085 [H8799] who were with him, heard H1697 the words H1121 that the sons H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the sons H1410 of Gad H1121 and the sons H4519 of Manasseh H1696 [H8765] spoke, H3190 H5869 [H8799] it pleased them.

31 H6372 And Phinehas H1121 the son H499 of Eleazar H3548 the priest H559 [H8799] said H1121 to the sons H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and to the sons H1410 of Gad, H1121 and to the sons H4519 of Manasseh, H3117 This day H3045 [H8804] we perceive H3068 that the LORD H8432 is among H4603 [H8804] us, because ye have not committed H4604 this treachery H3068 against the LORD: H227 now H5337 [H8689] ye have delivered H1121 the sons H3478 of Israel H3027 out of the hand H3068 of the LORD.

32 H6372 And Phinehas H1121 the son H499 of Eleazar H3548 the priest, H5387 and the princes, H7725 [H8799] returned H1121 from the sons H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and from the sons H1410 of Gad, H776 from the land H1568 of Gilead, H776 to the land H3667 of Canaan, H1121 to the sons H3478 of Israel, H7725 0 and brought H1697 them word H7725 [H8686] again.

33 H1697 And the thing H3190 H5869 [H8799] pleased H1121 the sons H3478 of Israel; H1121 and the sons H3478 of Israel H1288 [H8762] blessed H430 God, H559 [H8804] and did not intend H5927 [H8800] to go up H6635 against them in battle, H7843 [H8763] to decay H776 the land H1121 in which the sons H7205 of Reuben H1410 and Gad H3427 [H8802] dwelt.

34 H1121 And the sons H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the sons H1410 of Gad H7121 [H8799] called H4196 the altar H5707 Ed: for it shall be a witness H3068 between us that the LORD H430 is God.
