Joshua 22:11-34 And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.

11 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H8085 heard H559 say, H2009 Behold, H1121 the children H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the children H1410 of Gad H2677 and the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh H1129 have built H4196 an altar H413 over H4136 H4136 against H776 the land H3667 of Canaan, H1552 in the borders H3383 of Jordan, H413 at H5676 the passage H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel.

12 H1121 And when the children H3478 of Israel H8085 heard H3605 of it, the whole H5712 congregation H1121 of the children H3478 of Israel H6950 gathered H7887 themselves together at Shiloh, H5927 to go H6635 up to war H5921 against them.

13 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H7971 sent H1121 to the children H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and to the children H1410 of Gad, H2677 and to the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh, H413 into H776 the land H1568 of Gilead, H6372 Phinehas H1121 the son H499 of Eleazar H3548 the priest,

14 H6235 And with him ten H5387 princes, H259 of each H1 chief H1004 house H5387 a prince H3605 throughout all H4294 the tribes H3478 of Israel; H376 and each one H7218 was an head H1004 of the house H1 of their fathers H505 among the thousands H3478 of Israel.

15 H935 And they came H1121 to the children H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and to the children H1410 of Gad, H2677 and to the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh, H776 to the land H1568 of Gilead, H1696 and they spoke H559 with them, saying,

16 H3541 Thus H559 said H3605 the whole H5712 congregation H3068 of the LORD, H4100 What H4604 trespass H2088 is this H4603 that you have committed H430 against the God H3478 of Israel, H7725 to turn H3117 away this day H310 from following H3068 the LORD, H1129 in that you have built H4196 you an altar, H4775 that you might rebel H3117 this day H3068 against the LORD?

17 H5771 Is the iniquity H6465 of Peor H4592 too little H834 for us, from which H2891 we are not cleansed H5704 until H2088 this H3117 day, H5063 although there was a plague H5712 in the congregation H3068 of the LORD,

18 H7725 But that you must turn H3117 away this day H310 from following H3068 the LORD? H4775 and it will be, seeing you rebel H3117 to day H3068 against the LORD, H4279 that to morrow H7107 he will be wroth H3605 with the whole H5712 congregation H3478 of Israel.

19 H389 Notwithstanding, H518 if H776 the land H272 of your possession H2931 be unclean, H5674 then pass H5674 you over H776 to the land H272 of the possession H3068 of the LORD, H834 wherein H8033 H3068 the LORD’s H4908 tabernacle H7931 dwells, H270 and take H270 possession H8432 among H4775 us: but rebel H3068 not against the LORD, H408 nor H4775 rebel H1129 against us, in building H4196 you an altar H1107 beside H4196 the altar H3068 of the LORD H430 our God.

20 H5912 Did not Achan H1121 the son H2226 of Zerah H4603 commit H4604 a trespass H2764 in the accursed H7110 thing, and wrath H1961 fell H5921 on H3605 all H5712 the congregation H3478 of Israel? H376 and that man H1478 perished H259 not alone H5771 in his iniquity.

21 H1121 Then the children H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the children H1410 of Gad H2677 and the half H7626 tribe H4519 of Manasseh H6030 answered, H1696 and said H7218 to the heads H505 of the thousands H3478 of Israel,

22 H3068 The LORD H410 God H430 of gods, H3068 the LORD H410 God H430 of gods, H3045 he knows, H3478 and Israel H3045 he shall know; H518 if H4777 it be in rebellion, H518 or if H4604 in transgression H3068 against the LORD, H3467 (save H2088 us not this H3117 day,)

23 H1129 That we have built H4196 us an altar H7725 to turn H310 from following H3068 the LORD, H518 or if H5927 to offer H5921 thereon H5930 burnt H4503 offering H518 or meat offering, or if H6213 to offer H8002 peace H2077 offerings H5921 thereon, H3068 let the LORD H1245 himself require it;

24 H518 And if H6213 we have not rather done H1674 it for fear H2063 of this H1697 thing, H559 saying, H4279 In time H4279 to come H1121 your children H559 might speak H1121 to our children, H559 saying, H4100 What H3068 have you to do with the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel?

25 H3068 For the LORD H5414 has made H3383 Jordan H1366 a border H996 between H1121 us and you, you children H7205 of Reuben H1121 and children H1410 of Gad; H369 you have no H2506 part H3068 in the LORD: H1121 so shall your children H1121 make our children H7673 cease H3372 from fearing H3068 the LORD.

26 H559 Therefore we said, H4994 Let us now H6213 prepare H1129 to build H4196 us an altar, H5930 not for burnt H3808 offering, nor H2077 for sacrifice:

27 H5707 But that it may be a witness H996 between H1755 us, and you, and our generations H310 after H5647 us, that we might do H5656 the service H3068 of the LORD H6440 before H5930 him with our burnt H2077 offerings, and with our sacrifices, H8002 and with our peace H1121 offerings; that your children H559 may not say H1121 to our children H4279 in time H4279 to come, H369 You have no H2506 part H3068 in the LORD.

28 H559 Therefore said H3588 we, that it shall be, when H559 they should so say H1755 to us or to our generations H4279 in time H4279 to come, H559 that we may say H7200 again, Behold H8403 the pattern H4196 of the altar H3068 of the LORD, H834 which H1 our fathers H6213 made, H5930 not for burnt H3808 offerings, nor H2077 for sacrifices; H5707 but it is a witness H996 between us and you.

29 H2486 God forbid H4775 that we should rebel H3068 against the LORD, H7725 and turn H3117 this day H310 from following H3068 the LORD, H1129 to build H4196 an altar H5930 for burnt H4503 offerings, H2077 for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, H905 beside H4196 the altar H3068 of the LORD H430 our God H6440 that is before H4908 his tabernacle.

30 H6372 And when Phinehas H3548 the priest, H5387 and the princes H5712 of the congregation H7218 and heads H505 of the thousands H3478 of Israel H834 which H8085 were with him, heard H1697 the words H1121 that the children H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the children H1410 of Gad H1121 and the children H4519 of Manasseh H1696 spoke, H3190 it pleased H5869 them.

31 H6372 And Phinehas H1121 the son H499 of Eleazar H3548 the priest H559 said H1121 to the children H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and to the children H1410 of Gad, H1121 and to the children H4519 of Manasseh, H3117 This day H3045 we perceive H3068 that the LORD H8432 is among H834 us, because H4603 you have not committed H2088 this H4604 trespass H3068 against the LORD: H227 now H5337 you have delivered H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H3027 out of the hand H3068 of the LORD.

32 H6372 And Phinehas H1121 the son H499 of Eleazar H3548 the priest, H5387 and the princes, H7725 returned H1121 from the children H7205 of Reuben, H1121 and from the children H1410 of Gad, H776 out of the land H1568 of Gilead, H776 to the land H3667 of Canaan, H1121 to the children H3478 of Israel, H7725 and brought H1697 them word H7725 again.

33 H1697 And the thing H3190 pleased H5869 H1121 the children H3478 of Israel; H1121 and the children H3478 of Israel H1288 blessed H430 God, H559 and did not intend H5927 to go H5921 up against H6635 them in battle, H7843 to destroy H776 the land H834 wherein H1121 the children H7205 of Reuben H1410 and Gad H3427 dwelled.

34 H1121 And the children H7205 of Reuben H1121 and the children H1410 of Gad H7121 called H4196 the altar H5707 Ed: H5707 for it shall be a witness H996 between H3068 us that the LORD H430 is God.
