Jeremiah 9 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

2 H5414 Oh that H4057 I had in the wilderness H4411 a lodging-place H732 of wayfaring men; H5800 that I might leave H5971 my people, H3212 and go H5003 from them! for they are all adulterers, H6116 an assembly H898 of treacherous men.

3 H1869 And they bend H3956 their tongue, H7198 as it were their bow, H8267 for falsehood; H1396 and they are grown strong H776 in the land, H530 but not for truth: H3318 for they proceed H7451 from evil H7451 to evil, H3045 and they know H5002 not me, saith H3068 Jehovah.

4 H8104 Take ye heed H376 every one H7453 of his neighbor, H982 and trust H251 ye not in any brother; H251 for every brother H6117 will utterly H6117 supplant, H7453 and every neighbor H1980 will go H7400 about with slanders.

5 H2048 And they will deceive H376 every one H7453 his neighbor, H1696 and will not speak H571 the truth: H3925 they have taught H3956 their tongue H1696 to speak H8267 lies; H3811 they weary H5753 themselves to commit iniquity.

6 H3427 Thy habitation H8432 is in the midst H4820 of deceit; H4820 through deceit H3985 they refuse H3045 to know H5002 me, saith H3068 Jehovah.

7 H559 Therefore thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H6884 Behold, I will melt H974 them, and try H6213 them; for how else should I do, H6440 because H1323 of the daughter H5971 of my people?

8 H3956 Their tongue H7819 is a deadly H2671 arrow; H1696 it speaketh H4820 deceit: H1696 one speaketh H7965 peaceably H7453 to his neighbor H6310 with his mouth, H7130 but in his heart H7760 he layeth H696 wait for him.

9 H6485 Shall I not visit H5002 them for these things? saith H3068 Jehovah; H5315 shall not my soul H5358 be avenged H1471 on such a nation as this?

10 H2022 For the mountains H5375 will I take up H1065 a weeping H5092 and wailing, H4999 and for the pastures H4057 of the wilderness H7015 a lamentation, H3341 because they are burned up, H376 so that none H5674 passeth H8085 through; neither can men hear H6963 the voice H4735 of the cattle; H5775 both the birds H8064 of the heavens H929 and the beasts H5074 are fled, H1980 they are gone.

11 H5414 And I will make H3389 Jerusalem H1530 heaps, H4583 a dwelling-place H8577 of jackals; H5414 and I will make H5892 the cities H3063 of Judah H8077 a desolation, H3427 without inhabitant.

12 H2450 Who is the wise H376 man, H995 that may understand H6310 this? and who is he to whom the mouth H3068 of Jehovah H1696 hath spoken, H5046 that he may declare H776 it? wherefore is the land H6 perished H3341 and burned up H4057 like a wilderness, H5674 so that none passeth through?

13 H3068 And Jehovah H559 saith, H5800 Because they have forsaken H8451 my law H5414 which I set H6440 before H8085 them, and have not obeyed H6963 my voice, H1980 neither walked therein,

14 H3212 but have walked H310 after H8307 the stubbornness H3820 of their own heart, H310 and after H1168 the Baalim, H1 which their fathers H3925 taught them;

15 H559 therefore thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H430 the God H3478 of Israel, H398 Behold, I will feed H5971 them, even this people, H3939 with wormwood, H4325 and give them water H7219 of gall H8248 to drink.

16 H6327 I will scatter H1471 them also among the nations, H1 whom neither they nor their fathers H3045 have known; H7971 and I will send H2719 the sword H310 after H3615 them, till I have consumed them.

17 H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah H6635 of hosts, H995 Consider H7121 ye, and call H6969 for the mourning women, H935 that they may come; H7971 and send H2450 for the skilful H935 women, that they may come:

18 H4116 and let them make haste, H5375 and take up H5092 a wailing H5869 for us, that our eyes H3381 may run down H1832 with tears, H6079 and our eyelids H5140 gush out H4325 with waters.

19 H6963 For a voice H5092 of wailing H8085 is heard H6726 out of Zion, H7703 How are we ruined! H3966 we are greatly H954 confounded, H5800 because we have forsaken H776 the land, H7993 because they have cast down H4908 our dwellings.

20 H8085 Yet hear H1697 the word H3068 of Jehovah, H802 O ye women, H241 and let your ear H3947 receive H1697 the word H6310 of his mouth; H3925 and teach H1323 your daughters H5092 wailing, H802 and every one H7468 her neighbor H7015 lamentation.

21 H4194 For death H5927 is come up H2474 into our windows, H935 it is entered H759 into our palaces; H3772 to cut off H5768 the children H2351 from without, H970 and the young men H7339 from the streets.

22 H1696 Speak, H5002 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H5038 The dead bodies H120 of men H5307 shall fall H1828 as dung H6440 upon the open H7704 field, H5995 and as the handful H310 after H7114 the harvestman; H622 and none shall gather them.

23 H559 Thus saith H3068 Jehovah, H2450 Let not the wise H1984 man glory H2451 in his wisdom, H1368 neither let the mighty H1984 man glory H1369 in his might, H6223 let not the rich H1984 man glory H6239 in his riches;

24 H1984 but let him that glorieth H1984 glory H7919 in this, that he hath understanding, H3045 and knoweth H3068 me, that I am Jehovah H6213 who exerciseth H2617 lovingkindness, H4941 justice, H6666 and righteousness, H776 in the earth: H2654 for in these things I delight, H5002 saith H3068 Jehovah.

25 H3117 Behold, the days H935 come, H5002 saith H3068 Jehovah, H6485 that I will punish H4135 all them that are circumcised H6190 in their uncircumcision:

26 H4714 Egypt, H3063 and Judah, H123 and Edom, H1121 and the children H5983 of Ammon, H4124 and Moab, H6285 and all that have the corners H7112 of their hair cut off, H3427 that dwell H4057 in the wilderness; H1471 for all the nations H6189 are uncircumcised, H1004 and all the house H3478 of Israel H6189 are uncircumcised H3820 in heart.
