2 Kings 22 Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

2 H6213 And he did H3477 that which was right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the Lord, H3212 and walked H1870 in all the way H1732 of David H1 his father, H5493 and turned not aside H3225 to the right hand H8040 or to the left.

3 H8083 And it came to pass in the eighteenth H8141 year H4428 of king H2977 Josiah, H4428 that the king H7971 sent H8227 Shaphan H1121 the son H683 of Azaliah, H1121 the son H4918 of Meshullam, H5608 the scribe, H1004 to the house H3068 of the Lord, H559 saying,

4 H5927 Go up H2518 to Hilkiah H1419 the high H3548 priest, H8552 that he may sum H3701 the silver H935 which is brought H1004 into the house H3068 of the Lord, H8104 which the keepers H5592 of the door H622 have gathered H5971 of the people:

5 H5414 And let them deliver H3027 it into the hand H6213 of the doers H4399 of the work, H6485 that have the oversight H1004 of the house H3068 of the Lord: H5414 and let them give H6213 it to the doers H4399 of the work H1004 which is in the house H3068 of the Lord, H2388 to repair H919 the breaches H1004 of the house,

6 H2796 Unto carpenters, H1129 and builders, H1443 and masons, H7069 and to buy H6086 timber H4274 and cut H68 stone H2388 to repair H1004 the house.

7 H2803 But there was no reckoning made H3701 with them of the money H5414 that was delivered H3027 into their hand, H6213 because they dealt H530 faithfully.

8 H2518 And Hilkiah H1419 the high H3548 priest H559 said H8227 unto Shaphan H5608 the scribe, H4672 I have found H5612 the book H8451 of the law H1004 in the house H3068 of the Lord. H2518 And Hilkiah H5414 gave H5612 the book H8227 to Shaphan, H7121 and he read it.

9 H8227 And Shaphan H5608 the scribe H935 came H4428 to the king, H7725 and brought H4428 the king H1697 word H7725 again, H559 and said, H5650 Your servants H5413 have gathered H3701 the money H4672 that was found H1004 in the house, H5414 and have delivered H3027 it into the hand H6213 of them that do H4399 the work, H6485 that have the oversight H1004 of the house H3068 of the Lord.

10 H8227 And Shaphan H5608 the scribe H5046 showed H4428 the king, H559 saying, H2518 Hilkiah H3548 the priest H5414 has delivered H5612 me a book. H8227 And Shaphan H7121 read H6440 it before H4428 the king.

11 H4428 And it came to pass, when the king H8085 had heard H1697 the words H5612 of the book H8451 of the law, H7167 that he tore H899 his clothes.

12 H4428 And the king H6680 commanded H2518 Hilkiah H3548 the priest, H296 and Ahikam H1121 the son H8227 of Shaphan, H5907 and Achbor H1121 the son H4320 of Michaiah, H8227 and Shaphan H5608 the scribe, H6222 and Asahiah H5650 a servant H4428 of the king's, H559 saying,

13 H3212 Go H1875 you, inquire H3068 of the Lord H5971 for me, and for the people, H3063 and for all Judah, H1697 concerning the words H5612 of this book H4672 that is found: H1419 for great H2534 is the wrath H3068 of the Lord H3341 that is kindled H1 against us, because our fathers H8085 have not listened H1697 unto the words H5612 of this book, H6213 to do H3789 according unto all that which is written concerning us.

14 H2518 So Hilkiah H3548 the priest, H296 and Ahikam, H5907 and Achbor, H8227 and Shaphan, H6222 and Asahiah, H3212 went H2468 unto Huldah H5031 the prophetess, H802 the wife H7967 of Shallum H1121 the son H8616 of Tikvah, H1121 the son H2745 of Harhas, H8104 keeper H899 of the wardrobe; H3427 (now she lived H3389 in Jerusalem H4932 in the college;) H1696 and they talked with her.

15 H559 And she said H559 unto them, Thus says H3068 the Lord H430 God H3478 of Israel, H559 Tell H376 the man H7971 that sent you to me,

16 H559 Thus says H3068 the Lord, H935 Behold, I will bring H7451 evil H4725 upon this place, H3427 and upon the inhabitants H1697 there, even all the words H5612 of the book H4428 which the king H3063 of Judah H7121 has read:

17 H5800 Because they have forsaken H6999 me, and have burned incense H312 unto other H430 gods, H3707 that they might provoke me to anger H4639 with all the works H3027 of their hands; H2534 therefore my wrath H3341 shall be kindled H4725 against this place, H3518 and shall not be quenched.

18 H4428 But to the king H3063 of Judah H7971 which sent H1875 you to inquire H3068 of the Lord, H559 thus shall you say H559 to him, Thus says H3068 the Lord H430 God H3478 of Israel, H1697 As touching the words H8085 which you have heard;

19 H3824 Because your heart H7401 was tender, H3665 and you have humbled H6440 yourself before H3068 the Lord, H8085 when you heard H1696 what I spoke H4725 against this place, H3427 and against the inhabitants H8047 there, that they should become a desolation H7045 and a curse, H7167 and have tore H899 your clothes, H1058 and wept H6440 before H8085 me; I also have heard H5002 you, says H3068 the Lord.

20 H622 Behold therefore, I will gather H1 you unto your fathers, H622 and you shall be gathered H6913 into your grave H7965 in peace; H5869 and your eyes H7200 shall not see H7451 all the evil H935 which I will bring H4725 upon this place. H7725 And they brought H4428 the king H1697 word H7725 again.
