1 Samuel 4:11-20

  11 H727 וארון And the ark H430 אלהים of God H3947 נלקח was taken; H8147 ושׁני and the two H1121 בני sons H5941 עלי of Eli, H4191 מתו were slain. H2652 חפני Hophni H6372 ופינחס׃ and Phinehas,
  12 H7323 וירץ And there ran H376 אישׁ a man H1144 בנימן of Benjamin H4634 מהמערכה out of the army, H935 ויבא and came H7887 שׁלה to Shiloh H3117 ביום day H1931 ההוא the same H4055 ומדיו with his clothes H7167 קרעים rent, H127 ואדמה and with earth H5921 על upon H7218 ראשׁו׃ his head.
  13 H935 ויבוא And when he came, H2009 והנה lo, H5941 עלי Eli H3427 ישׁב sat H5921 על upon H3678 הכסא a seat H5221 יך   H1870 דרך by the wayside H6822 מצפה watching: H3588 כי for H1961 היה   H3820 לבו his heart H2730 חרד trembled H5921 על for H727 ארון the ark H430 האלהים of God. H376 והאישׁ And when the man H935 בא came H5046 להגיד and told H5892 בעיר into the city, H2199 ותזעק cried out. H3605 כל all H5892 העיר׃ the city
  14 H8085 וישׁמע heard H5941 עלי And when Eli H853 את   H6963 קול the noise H6818 הצעקה of the crying, H559 ויאמר he said, H4100 מה What H6963 קול the noise H1995 ההמון tumult? H2088 הזה of this H376 והאישׁ And the man H4116 מהר in hastily, H935 ויבא came H5046 ויגד and told H5941 לעלי׃ Eli.
  15 H5941 ועלי Now Eli H1121 בן old; H8673 תשׁעים   H8083 ושׁמנה and eight H8141 שׁנה years H5869 ועיניו and his eyes H6965 קמה were dim, H3808 ולא not H3201 יכול that he could H7200 לראות׃ see.
  16 H559 ויאמר said H376 האישׁ And the man H413 אל unto H5941 עלי Eli, H595 אנכי I H935 הבא he that came H4480 מן out of H4634 המערכה the army, H589 ואני and I H4480 מן out of H4634 המערכה the army. H5127 נסתי fled H3117 היום today H559 ויאמר And he said, H4100 מה What H1961 היה is H1697 הדבר there done, H1121 בני׃ my son?
  17 H6030 ויען answered H1319 המבשׂר And the messenger H559 ויאמר and said, H5127 נס is fled H3478 ישׂראל Israel H6440 לפני before H6430 פלשׁתים the Philistines, H1571 וגם also H4046 מגפה slaughter H1419 גדולה a great H1961 היתה and there hath been H5971 בעם among the people, H1571 וגם also, H8147 שׁני and thy two H1121 בניך sons H4191 מתו are dead, H2652 חפני Hophni H6372 ופינחס and Phinehas, H727 וארון and the ark H430 האלהים of God H3947 נלקחה׃ is taken.
  18 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H2142 כהזכירו when he made mention H853 את   H727 ארון of the ark H430 האלהים of God, H5307 ויפל that he fell H5921 מעל from off H3678 הכסא the seat H322 אחרנית backward H1157 בעד by H3027 יד the side H8179 השׁער of the gate, H7665 ותשׁבר broke, H4665 מפרקתו and his neck H4191 וימת and he died: H3588 כי for H2204 זקן he was an old H376 האישׁ man, H3515 וכבד and heavy. H1931 והוא And he H8199 שׁפט had judged H853 את   H3478 ישׂראל Israel H705 ארבעים forty H8141 שׁנה׃ years.
  19 H3618 וכלתו And his daughter-in-law, H802 אשׁת wife, H6372 פינחס Phinehas' H2030 הרה was with child, H3205 ללת to be delivered: H8085 ותשׁמע and when she heard H853 את   H8052 השׁמעה the tidings H413 אל   H3947 הלקח was taken, H727 ארון that the ark H430 האלהים of God H4191 ומת were dead, H2524 חמיה and that her father-in-law H376 ואישׁה and her husband H3766 ותכרע she bowed herself H3205 ותלד and travailed; H3588 כי for H2015 נהפכו came H5921 עליה upon H6735 צריה׃ her pains
  20 H6256 וכעת And about the time H4191 מותה of her death H1696 ותדברנה by her said H5324 הנצבות the women that stood H5921 עליה unto H408 אל not; H3372 תיראי her, Fear H3588 כי for H1121 בן a son. H3205 ילדת thou hast born H3808 ולא not, H6030 ענתה But she answered H3808 ולא neither H7896 שׁתה did she regard H3820 לבה׃ did she regard
