Joshua 23:1-24 And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about , that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.

2 H3091 And Joshua H7121 called [H8799] H3478 for all Israel H2205 , and for their elders H7218 , and for their heads H8199 , and for their judges [H8802] H7860 , and for their officers [H8802] H559 , and said [H8799] H2204 unto them, I am old [H8804] H935 and stricken [H8804] H3117 in age:

3 H7200 And ye have seen [H8804] H3068 all that the LORD H430 your God H6213 hath done [H8804] H1471 unto all these nations H6440 because H3068 of you; for the LORD H430 your God H3898 is he that hath fought [H8737] for you.

4 H7200 Behold [H8798] H5307 , I have divided [H8689] H1471 unto you by lot these nations H7604 that remain [H8737] H5159 , to be an inheritance H7626 for your tribes H3383 , from Jordan H1471 , with all the nations H3772 that I have cut off [H8689] H1419 , even unto the great H3220 sea H3996 westward H8121 .

5 H3068 And the LORD H430 your God H1920 , he shall expel [H8799] H6440 them from before H3423 you, and drive [H8689] H6440 them from out of your sight H3423 ; and ye shall possess [H8804] H776 their land H3068 , as the LORD H430 your God H1696 hath promised [H8765] unto you.

6 H3966 Be ye therefore very H2388 courageous [H8804] H8104 to keep [H8800] H6213 and to do [H8800] H3789 all that is written [H8803] H5612 in the book H8451 of the law H4872 of Moses H5493 , that ye turn [H8800] H3225 not aside therefrom to the right hand H8040 or to the left;

7 H935 That ye come [H8800] H1471 not among these nations H7604 , these that remain [H8737] H2142 among you; neither make mention [H8686] H8034 of the name H430 of their gods H7650 , nor cause to swear [H8686] H5647 by them, neither serve [H8799] H7812 them, nor bow [H8691] yourselves unto them:

8 H1692 But cleave [H8799] H3068 unto the LORD H430 your God H6213 , as ye have done [H8804] H3117 unto this day.

9 H3068 For the LORD H3423 hath driven out [H8686] H6440 from before H1419 you great H1471 nations H6099 and strong H376 : but as for you, no man H5975 hath been able to stand [H8804] H6440 before H3117 you unto this day.

10 H259 One H376 man H7291 of you shall chase [H8799] H505 a thousand H3068 : for the LORD H430 your God H3898 , he it is that fighteth [H8737] H1696 for you, as he hath promised [H8765] you.

11 H3966 Take good H8104 heed [H8738] H5315 therefore unto yourselves H157 , that ye love [H8800] H3068 the LORD H430 your God.

12 H7725 Else if ye do in any wise [H8800] H7725 go back [H8799] H1692 , and cleave [H8804] H3499 unto the remnant H1471 of these nations H7604 , even these that remain [H8737] H2859 among you, and shall make marriages [H8694] H935 with them, and go in [H8804] unto them, and they to you:

13 H3045 Know [H8799] H3045 for a certainty [H8800] H3068 that the LORD H430 your God H3254 will no more [H8686] H3423 drive out [H8687] H1471 any of these nations H6440 from before H6341 you; but they shall be snares H4170 and traps H7850 unto you, and scourges H6654 in your sides H6796 , and thorns H5869 in your eyes H6 , until ye perish [H8800] H2896 from off this good H127 land H3068 which the LORD H430 your God H5414 hath given [H8804] you.

14 H3117 And, behold, this day H1980 I am going [H8802] H1870 the way H776 of all the earth H3045 : and ye know [H8804] H3824 in all your hearts H5315 and in all your souls H259 , that not one H1697 thing H5307 hath failed [H8804] H2896 of all the good H1697 things H3068 which the LORD H430 your God H1696 spake [H8765] H935 concerning you; all are come to pass [H8804] H259 unto you, and not one H1697 thing H5307 hath failed [H8804] thereof.

15 H2896 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good H1697 things H935 are come [H8804] H3068 upon you, which the LORD H430 your God H1696 promised [H8765] H3068 you; so shall the LORD H935 bring [H8686] H7451 upon you all evil H1697 things H8045 , until he have destroyed [H8687] H2896 you from off this good H127 land H3068 which the LORD H430 your God H5414 hath given [H8804] you.

16 H5674 When ye have transgressed [H8800] H1285 the covenant H3068 of the LORD H430 your God H6680 , which he commanded [H8765] H1980 you, and have gone [H8804] H5647 and served [H8804] H312 other H430 gods H7812 , and bowed [H8694] H639 yourselves to them; then shall the anger H3068 of the LORD H2734 be kindled [H8804] H6 against you, and ye shall perish [H8804] H4120 quickly H2896 from off the good H776 land H5414 which he hath given [H8804] unto you.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And it came to pass after many days, when the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, and Joshua was old and well stricken in years; ² that Joshua called for all Israel, for their elders and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and well stricken in years: ³ and ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God, he it is that hath fought for you. ⁴ Behold, I have allotted unto you these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun. ⁵ And the LORD your God, he shall thrust them out from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God spake unto you. ⁶ Therefore be ye very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left; ⁷ that ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear [by them], neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves unto them: ⁸ but cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day. ⁹ For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath stood before you unto this day. ¹⁰ One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he spake unto you. ¹¹ Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God. ¹² Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you: ¹³ know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap unto you, and a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you. ¹⁴ And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, not one thing hath failed thereof. ¹⁵ And it shall come to pass, that as all the good things are come upon you of which the LORD your God spake unto you, so shall the LORD bring upon you all the evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you. ¹⁶ When ye transgress the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
