Isaiah 49 Listen , O isles , unto me; and hearken , ye people , from far ; The LORD hath called me from the womb ; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

2 H7760 And he hath made [H8799] H6310 my mouth H2299 like a sharp H2719 sword H6738 ; in the shadow H3027 of his hand H2244 hath he hid [H8689] H7760 me, and made [H8799] H1305 me a polished [H8803] H2671 shaft H827 ; in his quiver H5641 hath he hid [H8689] me;

3 H559 And said [H8799] H5650 unto me, Thou art my servant H3478 , O Israel H6286 , in whom I will be glorified [H8691] .

4 H559 Then I said [H8804] H3021 , I have laboured [H8804] H7385 in vain H3615 , I have spent [H8765] H3581 my strength H8414 for nought H1892 , and in vain H403 : yet surely H4941 my judgment H3068 is with the LORD H6468 , and my work H430 with my God.

5 H559 And now, saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H3335 that formed [H8802] H990 me from the womb H5650 to be his servant H7725 , to bring H3290 Jacob H7725 again [H8788] H3478 to him, Though Israel H622 be not gathered [H8735] H3513 , yet shall I be glorious [H8735] H5869 in the eyes H3068 of the LORD H430 , and my God H5797 shall be my strength.

6 H559 And he said [H8799] H7043 , It is a light thing [H8738] H5650 that thou shouldest be my servant H6965 to raise up [H8687] H7626 the tribes H3290 of Jacob H7725 , and to restore [H8687] H5341 the preserved [H8803] [H8675] H5336 H3478 of Israel H5414 : I will also give [H8804] H216 thee for a light H1471 to the Gentiles H3444 , that thou mayest be my salvation H7097 unto the end H776 of the earth.

7 H559 Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H1350 , the Redeemer [H8802] H3478 of Israel H6918 , and his Holy One H5315 , to him whom man H960 despiseth H1471 , to him whom the nation H8581 abhorreth [H8764] H5650 , to a servant H4910 of rulers [H8802] H4428 , Kings H7200 shall see [H8799] H6965 and arise [H8804] H8269 , princes H7812 also shall worship [H8691] H3068 , because of the LORD H539 that is faithful [H8737] H6918 , and the Holy One H3478 of Israel H977 , and he shall choose [H8799] thee.

8 H559 Thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H7522 , In an acceptable H6256 time H6030 have I heard [H8804] H3117 thee, and in a day H3444 of salvation H5826 have I helped [H8804] H5341 thee: and I will preserve [H8799] H5414 thee, and give [H8799] H1285 thee for a covenant H5971 of the people H6965 , to establish [H8687] H776 the earth H5157 , to cause to inherit [H8687] H8074 the desolate [H8802] H5159 heritages;

9 H559 That thou mayest say [H8800] H631 to the prisoners [H8803] H3318 , Go forth [H8798] H2822 ; to them that are in darkness H1540 , Shew [H8734] H7462 yourselves. They shall feed [H8799] H1870 in the ways H4830 , and their pastures H8205 shall be in all high places.

10 H7456 They shall not hunger [H8799] H6770 nor thirst [H8799] H8273 ; neither shall the heat H8121 nor sun H5221 smite [H8686] H7355 them: for he that hath mercy [H8764] H5090 on them shall lead [H8762] H4002 them, even by the springs H4325 of water H5095 shall he guide [H8762] them.

11 H7760 And I will make [H8804] H2022 all my mountains H1870 a way H4546 , and my highways H7311 shall be exalted [H8799] .

12 H935 Behold, these shall come [H8799] H7350 from far H6828 : and, lo, these from the north H3220 and from the west H776 ; and these from the land H5515 of Sinim.

Behold, I was left [H8738] H375 alone; these, where had they been ?

22 H559 Thus saith [H8804] H136 the Lord H3069 GOD H5375 , Behold, I will lift up [H8799] H3027 mine hand H1471 to the Gentiles H7311 , and set up [H8686] H5251 my standard H5971 to the people H935 : and they shall bring [H8689] H1121 thy sons H2684 in their arms H1323 , and thy daughters H5375 shall be carried [H8735] H3802 upon their shoulders.

23 H4428 And kings H539 shall be thy nursing fathers [H8802] H8282 , and their queens H3243 thy nursing mothers [H8688] H7812 : they shall bow down [H8691] H639 to thee with their face H776 toward the earth H3897 , and lick up [H8762] H6083 the dust H7272 of thy feet H3045 ; and thou shalt know [H8804] H3068 that I am the LORD H954 : for they shall not be ashamed [H8799] H6960 that wait [H8802] for me.

24 H4455 Shall the prey H3947 be taken [H8714] H1368 from the mighty H6662 , or the lawful H7628 captive H4422 delivered [H8735] ?

25 H559 But thus saith [H8804] H3068 the LORD H7628 , Even the captives H1368 of the mighty H3947 shall be taken away [H8714] H4455 , and the prey H6184 of the terrible H4422 shall be delivered [H8735] H7378 : for I will contend [H8799] H3401 with him that contendeth H3467 with thee, and I will save [H8686] H1121 thy children.

26 H398 And I will feed [H8689] H3238 them that oppress [H8688] H1320 thee with their own flesh H7937 ; and they shall be drunken [H8799] H1818 with their own blood H6071 , as with sweet wine H1320 : and all flesh H3045 shall know [H8804] H3068 that I the LORD H3467 am thy Saviour [H8688] H1350 and thy Redeemer [H8802] H46 , the mighty One H3290 of Jacob.
