Numbers 25:1-18 And Israel abode in Shittim , and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

2 H7121 And they called [H8799] H5971 the people H2077 unto the sacrifices H430 of their gods H5971 : and the people H398 did eat [H8799] H7812 , and bowed down [H8691] H430 to their gods.

3 H3478 And Israel H6775 joined [H8735] H1187 himself unto Baalpeor H639 : and the anger H3068 of the LORD H2734 was kindled [H8799] H3478 against Israel.

4 H3068 And the LORD H559 said [H8799] H4872 unto Moses H3947 , Take [H8798] H7218 all the heads H5971 of the people H3363 , and hang them up [H8685] H5048 before H3068 the LORD H8121 against the sun H2740 , that the fierce H639 anger H3068 of the LORD H7725 may be turned away [H8799] H3478 from Israel.

11 H6372 Phinehas H1121 , the son H499 of Eleazar H1121 , the son H175 of Aaron H3548 the priest H7725 , hath turned H2534 my wrath H7725 away [H8689] H1121 from the children H3478 of Israel H7065 , while he was zealous [H8763] H7068 for my sake H8432 among H3615 them, that I consumed [H8765] H1121 not the children H3478 of Israel H7068 in my jealousy.

12 H559 Wherefore say [H8798] H5414 , Behold, I give [H8802] H1285 unto him my covenant H7965 of peace:

13 H2233 And he shall have it, and his seed H310 after H1285 him, even the covenant H5769 of an everlasting H3550 priesthood H834 ; because H7065 he was zealous [H8765] H430 for his God H3722 , and made an atonement [H8762] H1121 for the children H3478 of Israel.

14 H8034 Now the name H376 of the Israelite H5221 that was slain [H8716] H5221 , even that was slain [H8717] H4084 with the Midianitish woman H2174 , was Zimri H1121 , the son H5543 of Salu H5387 , a prince H1 of a chief H1004 house H8099 among the Simeonites.

15 H8034 And the name H4084 of the Midianitish H802 woman H5221 that was slain [H8716] H3579 was Cozbi H1323 , the daughter H6698 of Zur H7218 ; he was head H523 over a people H1 , and of a chief H1004 house H4080 in Midian.
