H2518 And Hilkiah H5414 [H8799] gave H5612 the book H8227 to Shaphan, H7121 [H8799] and he read it.

And Helchias gaue the boke vnto Saphan, that he might reade it. 9 And Saphan the scrybe bare it vnto the kynge, and brought him worde agayne, & sayde: Thy seruauntes haue gathered together ye money yt was founde in the house, & haue delyuered it vnto the workme, which are appoynted in ye house of the LORDE. 10 And Saphan the scrybe tolde the kynge and sayde: Helchias the prest hath delyuered me a boke, and Saphan red it before the kynge. 11 But whan the kinge herde the wordes of the boke of lawe, he rente his clothes. 12 And the kynge comaunded Helchias the prest, & Ahicam the sonne of Saphan, & Achbor the sonne of Michaia, and Saphan the scribe, & Asaia ye kynges seruaunt, and sayde: 13 Go yor waye and axe councell at the LORDE for me, for the people, and for all Iuda, concernynge the wordes of this boke that is founde: for greate is the wrath of the LORDE that is kyndled ouer vs, because or fathers haue not herkened vnto the wordes of this boke, to do all that is wrytten vnto vs therin.
MSTC(i) 8 And Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the book of the law in the temple of the LORD." And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. 9 And then Shaphan the scribe went to the king and brought him word again, and said, "Thy servants poured out the silver that was found in the temple, and have delivered it unto the workmen that have the oversight of the house of the LORD." 10 Furthermore Shaphan the scribe showed the king saying, "Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me here a book." And Shaphan read it before the king. 11 And the king, as soon as he had heard the words of the book of the law, he rent his clothes 12 and commanded Hilkiah the priest and Ahikam the son of Shaphan and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying, 13 "Go ye and seek of the LORD for me, and the people, and for all Judah; concerning the words of this book that is found. For it is a great wrath of the LORD that is kindled upon us, that our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do in all points as it is written therein."
Matthew(i) 8 And Helkiah the hye pryeste sayde to Saphan the scribe: I haue founde the boke of the lawe in the temple of the Lorde, and Helkiah gaue the boke of Saphan, and he read it. 9 And then Saphan the scribe went to the kyng and brought him worde agayne, and sayde: thy seruauntes poured out the syluer that was founde in the temple, and haue delyuered it vnto the workemen that haue the ouersyghte of the house of the Lorde. 10 Forthermore Saphan the scribe shewed the kynge sayinge: Helkiah the prieste hathe delyuered me here a boke. ISV(i) 8 Hilkiah Discovers an Ancient ArchiveLater on, Hilkiah the high priest informed Shaphan the scribe, “I’ve discovered the Book of the Law in the LORD’s Temple.” Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he began to read it.
9 Shaphan the scribe reported to King Josiah, brought up the matter to him, and told him, “Your servants have distributed the money that was found in the Temple by giving it to the workmen who supervise the LORD’s Temple.” 10 Then Shaphan the scribe informed the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” Then Shaphan read from it in the king’s presence.
11 When the king heard what was written in the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes 12 and issued these orders to Hilkiah the priest, Shaphan’s son Ahikam, Micaiah’s son Achbor, Shaphan the scribe, and the king’s servant Asaiah: 13 “Go ask the LORD for me, for the people, and for all of Judah about what’s written in this book that has been discovered, because the LORD’s anger is burning against us, since our ancestors have not listened to the words written in this book and have not lived according to everything that is written concerning us.”
