  1 H376 Now the men H3478 of Israel H7650 had sworn [H8738]   H4709 in Mizpeh H559 , saying [H8800]   H376 , There shall not any H5414 of us give [H8799]   H1323 his daughter H1144 unto Benjamin H802 to wife.
  2 H5971 And the people H935 came [H8799]   H1004 to the house H430 of God [H8677]   H1008   H3427 , and abode [H8799]   H6153 there till even H6440 before H430 God H5375 , and lifted up [H8799]   H6963 their voices H1058 , and wept [H8799]   H1065   H1419 sore;
  3 H559 And said [H8799]   H3068 , O LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H3478 , why is this come to pass in Israel H3117 , that there should be to day H259 one H7626 tribe H6485 lacking [H8736]   H3478 in Israel?
  4 H4283 And it came to pass on the morrow H5971 , that the people H7925 rose early [H8686]   H1129 , and built [H8799]   H4196 there an altar H5927 , and offered [H8686]   H5930 burnt offerings H8002 and peace offerings.
  5 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H559 said [H8799]   H7626 , Who is there among all the tribes H3478 of Israel H834 that H5927 came [H8804]   H6951 not up with the congregation H3068 unto the LORD H1419 ? For they had made a great H7621 oath H5927 concerning him that came not up [H8804]   H3068 to the LORD H4709 to Mizpeh H559 , saying [H8800]   H4191 , He shall surely [H8800]   H4191 be put to death [H8714]  .
  6 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H5162 repented [H8735]   H1144 them for Benjamin H251 their brother H559 , and said [H8799]   H259 , There is one H7626 tribe H1438 cut off [H8738]   H3478 from Israel H3117 this day.
  7 H6213 How shall we do [H8799]   H802 for wives H3498 for them that remain [H8737]   H7650 , seeing we have sworn [H8738]   H3068 by the LORD H5414 that we will not give [H8800]   H1323 them of our daughters H802 to wives?
  8 H559 And they said [H8799]   H259 , What one H7626 is there of the tribes H3478 of Israel H5927 that came not up [H8804]   H4709 to Mizpeh H3068 to the LORD H935 ? And, behold, there came [H8804]   H376 none H4264 to the camp H3003 from Jabeshgilead H1568   H6951 to the assembly.
  9 H5971 For the people H6485 were numbered [H8691]   H376 , and, behold, there were none H3427 of the inhabitants [H8802]   H3003 of Jabeshgilead H1568   there.
  10 H5712 And the congregation H7971 sent [H8799]   H8147 thither twelve H6240   H505 thousand H376 men H1121 of the valiantest H2428   H6680 , and commanded [H8762]   H559 them, saying [H8800]   H3212 , Go [H8798]   H5221 and smite [H8689]   H3427 the inhabitants [H8802]   H3003 of Jabeshgilead H1568   H6310 with the edge H2719 of the sword H802 , with the women H2945 and the children.
  11 H1697 And this is the thing H6213 that ye shall do [H8799]   H2763 , Ye shall utterly destroy [H8686]   H2145 every male H802 , and every woman H4904 that hath lain H3045 by man [H8802]  .
  12 H4672 And they found [H8799]   H3427 among the inhabitants [H8802]   H3003 of Jabeshgilead H1568   H702 four H3967 hundred H5291 young H1330 virgins H3045 , that had known [H8804]   H376 no man H4904 by lying H2145 with any male H935 : and they brought [H8686]   H4264 them unto the camp H7887 to Shiloh H776 , which is in the land H3667 of Canaan.
  13 H5712 And the whole congregation H7971 sent [H8799]   H1696 some to speak [H8762]   H1121 to the children H1144 of Benjamin H5553 that were in the rock H7417 Rimmon H7121 , and to call [H8799]   H7965 peaceably unto them.
  14 H1144 And Benjamin H7725 came again [H8799]   H6256 at that time H5414 ; and they gave [H8799]   H802 them wives H2421 which they had saved alive [H8765]   H802 of the women H3003 of Jabeshgilead H1568   H4672 : and yet so they sufficed [H8804]   them not.
  15 H5971 And the people H5162 repented [H8737]   H1144 them for Benjamin H3068 , because that the LORD H6213 had made [H8804]   H6556 a breach H7626 in the tribes H3478 of Israel.
  16 H2205 Then the elders H5712 of the congregation H559 said [H8799]   H6213 , How shall we do [H8799]   H802 for wives H3498 for them that remain [H8737]   H802 , seeing the women H8045 are destroyed [H8738]   H1144 out of Benjamin?
  17 H559 And they said [H8799]   H3425 , There must be an inheritance H6413 for them that be escaped H1144 of Benjamin H7626 , that a tribe H4229 be not destroyed [H8735]   H3478 out of Israel.
  18 H3201 Howbeit we may [H8799]   H5414 not give [H8800]   H802 them wives H1323 of our daughters H1121 : for the children H3478 of Israel H7650 have sworn [H8738]   H559 , saying [H8800]   H779 , Cursed [H8803]   H5414 be he that giveth [H8802]   H802 a wife H1144 to Benjamin.
  19 H559 Then they said [H8799]   H2282 , Behold, there is a feast H3068 of the LORD H7887 in Shiloh H3117 yearly H3117   H6828 in a place which is on the north side H1008 of Bethel H4217 , on the east side H8121   H4546 of the highway H5927 that goeth up [H8802]   H1008 from Bethel H7927 to Shechem H5045 , and on the south H3829 of Lebonah.
  20 H6680 Therefore they commanded [H8762]   H1121 the children H1144 of Benjamin H559 , saying [H8800]   H3212 , Go [H8798]   H693 and lie in wait [H8804]   H3754 in the vineyards;
  21 H7200 And see [H8804]   H1323 , and, behold, if the daughters H7887 of Shiloh H3318 come out [H8799]   H2342 to dance [H8800]   H4246 in dances H3318 , then come ye out [H8804]   H3754 of the vineyards H2414 , and catch [H8804]   H376 you every man H802 his wife H1323 of the daughters H7887 of Shiloh H1980 , and go [H8804]   H776 to the land H1144 of Benjamin.
  22 H1 And it shall be, when their fathers H251 or their brethren H935 come [H8799]   H7378 unto us to complain [H8800]   H559 , that we will say [H8804]   H2603 unto them, Be favourable [H8798]   H3947 unto them for our sakes: because we reserved [H8804]   H376 not to each man H802 his wife H4421 in the war H5414 : for ye did not give [H8804]   H6256 unto them at this time H816 , that ye should be guilty [H8799]  .
  23 H1121 And the children H1144 of Benjamin H6213 did so [H8799]   H5375 , and took [H8799]   H802 them wives H4557 , according to their number H2342 , of them that danced [H8789]   H1497 , whom they caught [H8804]   H3212 : and they went [H8799]   H7725 and returned [H8799]   H5159 unto their inheritance H1129 , and repaired [H8799]   H5892 the cities H3427 , and dwelt [H8799]   in them.
  24 H1121 And the children H3478 of Israel H1980 departed [H8691]   H6256 thence at that time H376 , every man H7626 to his tribe H4940 and to his family H3318 , and they went out [H8799]   H376 from thence every man H5159 to his inheritance.
  25 H3117 In those days H4428 there was no king H3478 in Israel H376 : every man H6213 did [H8799]   H3477 that which was right H5869 in his own eyes.

  1 H376 ואישׁ Now the men H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H7650 נשׁבע had sworn H4709 במצפה in Mizpeh, H559 לאמר saying, H376 אישׁ any H4480 ממנו of H3808 לא There shall not H5414 יתן us give H1323 בתו his daughter H1144 לבנימן unto Benjamin H802 לאשׁה׃ to wife.
  2 H935 ויבא came H5971 העם And the people H1008 בית אל to the house of God, H3427 וישׁבו and abode H8033 שׁם there H5704 עד till H6153 הערב even H6440 לפני before H430 האלהים God, H5375 וישׂאו and lifted up H6963 קולם their voices, H1058 ויבכו and wept H1065 בכי sore; H1419 גדול׃ sore;
  3 H559 ויאמרו And said, H4100 למה why H3068 יהוה O LORD H430 אלהי God H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H1961 היתה come to pass H2063 זאת is this H3478 בישׂראל in Israel, H6485 להפקד lacking H3117 היום that there should be today H3478 מישׂראל   H7626 שׁבט tribe H259 אחד׃ one
  4 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass H4283 ממחרת on the morrow, H7925 וישׁכימו rose early, H5971 העם that the people H1129 ויבנו and built H8033 שׁם there H4196 מזבח an altar, H5927 ויעלו and offered H5930 עלות burnt offerings H8002 ושׁלמים׃ and peace offerings.
  5 H559 ויאמרו said, H1121 בני And the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H4310 מי Who H834 אשׁר that H3808 לא came not up H5927 עלה came not up H6951 בקהל with the congregation H3605 מכל among all H7626 שׁבטי the tribes H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H413 אל unto H3068 יהוה the LORD? H3588 כי For H7621 השׁבועה oath H1419 הגדולה a great H1961 היתה they had made H834 לאשׁר concerning H3808 לא him that came not up H5927 עלה him that came not up H413 אל to H3068 יהוה the LORD H4709 המצפה to Mizpeh, H559 לאמר saying, H4191 מות   H4191 יומת׃  
  6 H5162 וינחמו repented H1121 בני And the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H413 אל them for H1144 בנימן Benjamin H251 אחיו their brother, H559 ויאמרו and said, H1438 נגדע cut off H3117 היום this day. H7626 שׁבט tribe H259 אחד There is one H3478 מישׂראל׃  
  7 H4100 מה How H6213 נעשׂה shall we do H3498 להם לנותרים for them that remain, H802 לנשׁים for wives H587 ואנחנו seeing we H7650 נשׁבענו have sworn H3068 ביהוה by the LORD H1115 לבלתי that we will not H5414 תת give H1323 להם מבנותינו them of our daughters H802 לנשׁים׃ to wives?
  8 H559 ויאמרו And they said, H4310 מי What H259 אחד one H7626 משׁבטי of the tribes H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H834 אשׁר that H3808 לא came not up H5927 עלה came not up H413 אל to H3068 יהוה the LORD? H4709 המצפה to Mizpeh H2009 והנה And, behold, H3808 לא none H935 בא there came H376 אישׁ none H413 אל to H4264 המחנה the camp H3003 מיבישׁ   H1568 גלעד   H413 אל to H6951 הקהל׃ the assembly.
  9 H6485 ויתפקד were numbered, H5971 העם For the people H2009 והנה and, behold, H369 אין none H8033 שׁם there. H376 אישׁ none H3427 מיושׁבי of the inhabitants H3003 יבשׁ   H1568 גלעד׃  
  10 H7971 וישׁלחו sent H8033 שׁם hither H5712 העדה And the congregation H8147 שׁנים twelve H6240 עשׂר twelve H505 אלף thousand H376 אישׁ men H1121 מבני   H2428 החיל   H6680 ויצוו and commanded H853 אותם   H559 לאמר them, saying, H1980 לכו Go H5221 והכיתם and smite H853 את   H3427 יושׁבי the inhabitants H3003 יבשׁ   H1568 גלעד   H6310 לפי with the edge H2719 חרב of the sword, H802 והנשׁים with the women H2945 והטף׃ and the children.
  11 H2088 וזה And this H1697 הדבר the thing H834 אשׁר that H6213 תעשׂו ye shall do, H3605 כל every H2145 זכר male, H3605 וכל and every H802 אשׁה woman H3045 ידעת that hath lain H4904 משׁכב that hath lain H2145 זכר by man. H2763 תחרימו׃ Ye shall utterly destroy
  12 H4672 וימצאו And they found H3427 מיושׁבי among the inhabitants H3003 יבישׁ   H1568 גלעד   H702 ארבע four H3967 מאות hundred H5291 נערה young H1330 בתולה virgins, H834 אשׁר that H3808 לא no H3045 ידעה had known H376 אישׁ man H4904 למשׁכב by lying H2145 זכר with any male: H935 ויביאו and they brought H853 אותם   H413 אל them unto H4264 המחנה the camp H7887 שׁלה to Shiloh, H834 אשׁר which H776 בארץ in the land H3667 כנען׃ of Canaan.
  13 H7971 וישׁלחו sent H3605 כל And the whole H5712 העדה congregation H1696 וידברו to speak H413 אל to H1121 בני the children H1144 בנימן of Benjamin H834 אשׁר that H5553 בסלע in the rock H7417 רמון Rimmon, H7121 ויקראו and to call H7965 להם שׁלום׃ peaceably
  14 H7725 וישׁב came again H1144 בנימן And Benjamin H6256 בעת time; H1931 ההיא at that H5414 ויתנו and they gave H802 להם הנשׁים them wives H834 אשׁר which H2421 חיו they had saved alive H802 מנשׁי of the women H3003 יבשׁ   H1568 גלעד   H3808 ולא them not. H4672 מצאו they sufficed H3651 להם כן׃ and yet so
  15 H5971 והעם And the people H5162 נחם repented them H1144 לבנימן for Benjamin, H3588 כי because H6213 עשׂה had made H3068 יהוה that the LORD H6556 פרץ a breach H7626 בשׁבטי in the tribes H3478 ישׂראל׃ of Israel.
  16 H559 ויאמרו said, H2205 זקני Then the elders H5712 העדה of the congregation H4100 מה How H6213 נעשׂה shall we do H3498 לנותרים for them that remain, H802 לנשׁים for wives H3588 כי seeing H8045 נשׁמדה are destroyed H1144 מבנימן   H802 אשׁה׃ the women
  17 H559 ויאמרו And they said, H3425 ירשׁת an inheritance H6413 פליטה for them that be escaped H1144 לבנימן of Benjamin, H3808 ולא be not H4229 ימחה destroyed H7626 שׁבט that a tribe H3478 מישׂראל׃  
  18 H587 ואנחנו Howbeit we H3808 לא not H3201 נוכל may H5414 לתת give H802 להם נשׁים them wives H1323 מבנותינו of our daughters: H3588 כי for H7650 נשׁבעו have sworn, H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H559 לאמר saying, H779 ארור Cursed H5414 נתן he that giveth H802 אשׁה a wife H1144 לבנימן׃ to Benjamin.
  19 H559 ויאמרו Then they said, H2009 הנה Behold, H2282 חג a feast H3068 יהוה of the LORD H7887 בשׁלו in Shiloh H3117 מימים   H3117 ימימה   H834 אשׁר which H6828 מצפונה on the north side H1008 לבית אל   H4217 מזרחה on the east side H8121 השׁמשׁ on the east side H4546 למסלה of the highway H5927 העלה that goeth up H1008 מבית אל   H7927 שׁכמה to Shechem, H5045 ומנגב and on the south H3829 ללבונה׃ of Lebonah.
  20 H6680 ויצו Therefore they commanded H853 את   H1121 בני the children H1144 בנימן of Benjamin, H559 לאמר saying, H1980 לכו Go H693 וארבתם and lie in wait H3754 בכרמים׃ in the vineyards;
  21 H7200 וראיתם And see, H2009 והנה and, behold, H518 אם if H3318 יצאו come out H1323 בנות the daughters H7887 שׁילו of Shiloh H2342 לחול to dance H4246 במחלות in dances, H3318 ויצאתם then come ye out H4480 מן of H3754 הכרמים the vineyards, H2414 וחטפתם and catch H376 לכם אישׁ you every man H802 אשׁתו his wife H1323 מבנות of the daughters H7887 שׁילו of Shiloh, H1980 והלכתם and go H776 ארץ to the land H1144 בנימן׃ of Benjamin.
  22 H1961 והיה And it shall be, H3588 כי when H935 יבאו come H1 אבותם their fathers H176 או or H251 אחיהם their brethren H7378 לרוב us to complain, H413 אלינו unto H559 ואמרנו that we will say H413 אליהם unto H2603 חנונו them, Be favorable H853 אותם   H3588 כי unto them for our sakes: because H3808 לא not H3947 לקחנו we reserved H376 אישׁ to each man H802 אשׁתו his wife H4421 במלחמה in the war: H3588 כי for H3808 לא did not H859 אתם ye H5414 נתתם give H6256 להם כעת unto them at this time, H816 תאשׁמו׃ ye should be guilty.
  23 H6213 ויעשׂו did H3651 כן so, H1121 בני And the children H1144 בנימן of Benjamin H5375 וישׂאו and took H802 נשׁים wives, H4557 למספרם according to their number, H4480 מן of H2342 המחללות them that danced, H834 אשׁר whom H1497 גזלו they caught: H1980 וילכו and they went H7725 וישׁובו and returned H413 אל unto H5159 נחלתם their inheritance, H1129 ויבנו and repaired H853 את   H5892 הערים the cities, H3427 וישׁבו׃ and dwelt
  24 H1980 ויתהלכו departed H8033 משׁם thence H1121 בני And the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H6256 בעת time, H1931 ההיא at that H376 אישׁ every man H7626 לשׁבטו to his tribe H4940 ולמשׁפחתו and to his family, H3318 ויצאו and they went out H8033 משׁם from thence H376 אישׁ every man H5159 לנחלתו׃ to his inheritance.
  25 H3117 בימים days H1992 ההם In those H369 אין no H4428 מלך king H3478 בישׂראל in Israel: H376 אישׁ every man H3477 הישׁר right H5869 בעיניו in his own eyes. H6213 יעשׂה׃ did
