Jeremiah 38:14-28 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Jeremiah the prophet to him into the third entry that is in the house of Yahweh: and the king said to Jeremiah, I will ask you something. Hide nothing from me.

14 H6667 Then Zedekiah H4428 the king H7971 sent, H3947 and took H3414 Jeremiah H5030 the prophet H7992 to him into the third H3996 entry H1004 that is in the house H3068 of Yahweh: H4428 and the king H559 said H3414 to Jeremiah, H7592 I will ask H1697 you something. H3582 Hide nothing from me.

15 H3414 Then Jeremiah H559 said H6667 to Zedekiah, H5046 If I declare H4191 it to you, will you not surely H4191 put me to death? H3289 and if I give you counsel, H8085 you will not listen to me.

16 H6667 So Zedekiah H4428 the king H7650 swore H5643 secretly H3414 to Jeremiah, H559 saying, H3068 As Yahweh H2416 lives, H6213 who made H5315 us this soul, H4191 I will not put you to death, H5414 neither will I give H3027 you into the hand H582 of these men H1245 who seek H5315 your life.

17 H3414 Then Jeremiah H559 said H6667 to Zedekiah, H559 Thus says H3068 Yahweh, H430 the God H6635 of Armies, H430 the God H3478 of Israel: H3318 If you will H3318 go forth H4428 to the king H894 of Babylon's H8269 princes, H5315 then your soul H2421 shall live, H5892 and this city H8313 shall not be burned H784 with fire; H2421 and you shall live, H1004 and your house.

18 H3318 But if you will not go forth H4428 to the king H894 of Babylon's H8269 princes, H5892 then shall this city H5414 be given H3027 into the hand H3778 of the Chaldeans, H8313 and they shall burn H784 it with fire, H4422 and you shall not escape out H3027 of their hand.

19 H6667 Zedekiah H4428 the king H559 said H3414 to Jeremiah, H1672 I am afraid H3064 of the Jews H5307 who are fallen H3778 away to the Chaldeans, H5414 lest they deliver H3027 me into their hand, H5953 and they mock me.

20 H3414 But Jeremiah H559 said, H5414 They shall not deliver H8085 you. Obey, H6963 I beg you, the voice H3068 of Yahweh, H1696 in that which I speak H3190 to you: so it shall be well H5315 with you, and your soul H2421 shall live.

21 H3986 But if you refuse H3318 to go forth, H1697 this is the word H3068 that Yahweh H7200 has shown me:

22 H802 behold, all the women H7604 who are left H4428 in the king H3063 of Judah's H1004 house H3318 shall be brought forth H4428 to the king H894 of Babylon's H8269 princes, H559 and those women shall say, H582 Your familiar friends H5496 have set you on, H3201 and have prevailed H7272 over you. Your feet H2883 are sunk H1206 in the mire, H5472 they have turned away H268 back.

23 H3318 They shall bring out H802 all your wives H1121 and your children H3778 to the Chaldeans; H4422 and you shall not escape out H3027 of their hand, H8610 but shall be taken H3027 by the hand H4428 of the king H894 of Babylon: H5892 and you shall cause this city H8313 to be burned H784 with fire.

24 H6667 Then Zedekiah H559 said H3414 to Jeremiah, H376 Let no man H3045 know H1697 of these words, H4191 and you shall not die.

25 H8269 But if the princes H8085 hear H1696 that I have talked H935 with you, and they come H559 to you, and tell H5046 you, Declare H1696 to us now what you have said H4428 to the king; H3582 don't hide H4191 it from us, and we will not put you to death; H4428 also what the king H1696 said to you:

26 H559 then you shall tell H5307 them, I presented H8467 my supplication H6440 before H4428 the king, H7725 that he would not cause me to return H3083 to Jonathan's H1004 house, H4191 to die there.

27 H935 Then came H8269 all the princes H3414 to Jeremiah, H7592 and asked H5046 him; and he told H1697 them according to all these words H4428 that the king H6680 had commanded. H2790 So they left off speaking H1697 with him; for the matter H8085 was not perceived.

28 H3414 So Jeremiah H3427 stayed H2691 in the court H4307 of the guard H3117 until the day H3389 that Jerusalem H3920 was taken.
