1 Samuel 30 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;

1 H1961 And it came H1732 to pass, when David H582 and his men H935 were come H6860 to Ziklag H7992 on the third H3117 day, H6003 that the Amalekites H6584 had invaded H5045 the south, H6860 and Ziklag, H5221 and smitten H6860 Ziklag, H8313 and burned H784 it with fire;

2 H802 And had taken the women H7617 captives, H4191 that were therein: they slew H376 not any, H1419 either great H6996 or small, H5090 but carried H3212 them away, and went H1870 on their way.

3 H1732 So David H582 and his men H935 came H5892 to the city, H2009 and, behold, H8313 it was burned H784 with fire; H802 and their wives, H1121 and their sons, H1323 and their daughters, H7617 were taken captives.

4 H1732 Then David H5971 and the people H5375 that were with him lifted H6963 up their voice H1058 and wept, H5704 until H834 H369 they had no H3581 more power H1058 to weep.

5 H1732 And David’s H8147 two H802 wives H7617 were taken captives, H293 Ahinoam H3159 the Jezreelitess, H26 and Abigail H802 the wife H5037 of Nabal H3761 the Carmelite.

6 H1732 And David H3966 was greatly H3334 distressed; H5971 for the people H559 spoke H5619 of stoning H3588 him, because H5315 the soul H3605 of all H5971 the people H4784 was grieved, H376 every man H1121 for his sons H1323 and for his daughters: H1732 but David H2388 encouraged H3068 himself in the LORD H430 his God.

7 H1732 And David H559 said H54 to Abiathar H3548 the priest, H288 Ahimelech’s H1121 son, H4994 I pray H5066 you, bring H5066 me here H646 the ephod. H54 And Abiathar H5066 brought H646 thither the ephod H1732 to David.

8 H1732 And David H7592 inquired H3068 at the LORD, H559 saying, H7291 Shall I pursue H310 after H2088 this H1416 troop? H5381 shall I overtake H559 them? And he answered H7291 him, Pursue: H5381 for you shall surely overtake H5337 them, and without fail recover all.

9 H1732 So David H3212 went, H8337 he and the six H3967 hundred H376 men H935 that were with him, and came H5158 to the brook H1308 Besor, H3498 where those that were left H3498 behind H5975 stayed.

10 H1732 But David H7291 pursued, H702 he and four H3697 hundred H376 men: H3967 for two hundred H5975 stayed H5975 behind, H834 which H6296 were so faint H5674 that they could not go H5674 over H5158 the brook H1308 Besor.

11 H4672 And they found H4713 an Egyptian H7704 in the field, H3947 and brought H1732 him to David, H5414 and gave H3899 him bread, H398 and he did eat; H8248 and they made him drink H4325 water;

12 H5414 And they gave H6400 him a piece H1690 of a cake H8147 of figs, and two H6778 clusters H6778 of raisins: H398 and when he had eaten, H7307 his spirit H7725 came H7725 again H398 to him: for he had eaten H3808 no H3899 bread, H3808 nor H8354 drunk H4325 any water, H7969 three H3117 days H7969 and three H3915 nights.

13 H1732 And David H559 said H4310 to him, To whom H335 belong you? and from where H2088 H559 are you? And he said, H5288 I am a young H4713 man of Egypt, H5650 servant H6003 to an Amalekite; H113 and my master H5800 left H3588 me, because H7969 three H2470 days ago I fell sick.

14 H6584 We made an invasion H5045 on the south H3774 of the Cherethites, H834 and on the coast which H3063 belongs to Judah, H5045 and on the south H3612 of Caleb; H8313 and we burned H6860 Ziklag H784 with fire.

15 H1732 And David H559 said H3381 to him, Can you bring H3381 me down H2088 to this H1416 company? H559 And he said, H7650 Swear H430 to me by God, H518 that you will neither H4191 kill H518 me, nor H5462 deliver H3027 me into the hands H113 of my master, H3381 and I will bring H3381 you down H2088 to this H1416 company.

16 H3381 And when he had brought H3381 him down, H2009 behold, H5203 they were spread H5203 abroad H3605 on all H776 the earth, H398 eating H8354 and drinking, H2287 and dancing, H3605 because of all H1419 the great H7998 spoil H3947 that they had taken H776 out of the land H6430 of the Philistines, H776 and out of the land H3063 of Judah.

17 H1732 And David H5221 smote H5399 them from the twilight H6153 even to the evening H4283 of the next H4283 day: H4422 and there escaped H376 not a man H3588 of them, save H518 H702 four H3967 hundred H5288 young H376 men, H834 which H7392 rode H1581 on camels, H5127 and fled.

18 H1732 And David H5337 recovered H3605 all H6003 that the Amalekites H3947 had carried H1732 away: and David H5337 rescued H8147 his two H802 wives.

19 H3808 And there was nothing H5737 lacking H4480 to them, neither H6996 small H5703 nor H1419 great, H4480 neither H1121 sons H5703 nor H1323 daughters, H4480 neither H7998 spoil, H5703 nor H3605 any H3947 thing that they had taken H1732 to them: David H7725 recovered H3605 all.

20 H1732 And David H3947 took H3605 all H6629 the flocks H1241 and the herds, H5090 which they drove H6440 before H1931 those H4735 other cattle, H559 and said, H2088 This H1732 is David’s H7998 spoil.

21 H1732 And David H935 came H3967 to the two hundred H582 men, H834 which H6296 were so faint H3212 that they could not follow H310 H1732 David, H3427 whom they had made also to abide H5158 at the brook H1308 Besor: H3318 and they went H3318 forth H7125 to meet H1732 David, H7125 and to meet H5971 the people H1732 that were with him: and when David H5066 came H5066 near H5971 to the people, H7592 he saluted H7965 them.

22 H6030 Then answered H3605 all H7451 the wicked H376 men H1100 and men of Belial, H1980 of those that went H1732 with David, H559 and said, H3282 Because H1980 they went H5414 not with us, we will not give H7998 them ought of the spoil H5337 that we have recovered, H3588 save H518 H376 to every man H802 his wife H1121 and his children, H5090 that they may lead H3212 them away, and depart.

23 H559 Then said H1732 David, H6213 You shall not do H3651 so, H251 my brothers, H834 with that which H3068 the LORD H5414 has given H8104 us, who has preserved H5414 us, and delivered H1416 the company H935 that came H5921 against H3027 us into our hand.

24 H4310 For who H8085 will listen H2088 to you in this H1697 matter? H2506 but as his part H3381 is that goes H3381 down H4421 to the battle, H2506 so shall his part H3427 be that tarries H3627 by the stuff: H2505 they shall part H3162 alike.

25 H3117 And it was so from that day H4605 forward, H7760 that he made H2706 it a statute H4941 and an ordinance H3478 for Israel H2088 to this H3117 day.

26 H1732 And when David H935 came H6860 to Ziklag, H7971 he sent H7998 of the spoil H2205 to the elders H3063 of Judah, H7453 even to his friends, H559 saying, H2009 Behold H1293 a present H7998 for you of the spoil H341 of the enemies H3068 of the LORD;

27 H834 To them which H1008 were in Bethel, H834 and to them which H5045 were in south H7418 Ramoth, H834 and to them which H3492 were in Jattir,

28 H834 And to them which H6177 were in Aroer, H834 and to them which H8224 were in Siphmoth, H834 and to them which H851 were in Eshtemoa,

29 H834 And to them which H7403 were in Rachal, H834 and to them which H5892 were in the cities H3397 of the Jerahmeelites, H834 and to them which H5892 were in the cities H7017 of the Kenites,

30 H834 And to them which H2767 were in Hormah, H834 and to them which H3565 were in Chorashan, H834 and to them which H6269 were in Athach,

31 H2275 And to them which were in Hebron, H3605 and to all H4725 the places H834 where H8033 H1732 David H582 himself and his men H1980 were wont H1980 to haunt.
