1 Chronicles 22 Then David said , This is the house of the LORD God , and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.

2 H1732 And David H559 commanded [H8799] H3664 to gather together [H8800] H1616 the strangers H776 that were in the land H3478 of Israel H5975 ; and he set [H8686] H2672 masons [H8802] H2672 to hew [H8800] H1496 wrought H68 stones H1129 to build [H8800] H1004 the house H430 of God.

3 H1732 And David H3559 prepared [H8689] H1270 iron H7230 in abundance H4548 for the nails H1817 for the doors H8179 of the gates H4226 , and for the joinings H5178 ; and brass H7230 in abundance H4948 without weight;

4 H730 Also cedar H6086 trees H369 in abundance H4557 H6722 : for the Zidonians H6876 and they of Tyre H935 brought [H8689] H7230 much H730 cedar H6086 wood H1732 to David.

5 H1732 And David H559 said [H8799] H8010 , Solomon H1121 my son H5288 is young H7390 and tender H1004 , and the house H1129 that is to be builded [H8800] H3068 for the LORD H4605 must be exceeding H1431 magnifical [H8687] H8034 , of fame H8597 and of glory H776 throughout all countries H3559 : I will therefore now make preparation [H8686] H1732 for it. So David H3559 prepared [H8686] H7230 abundantly H6440 before H4194 his death.

6 H7121 Then he called [H8799] H8010 for Solomon H1121 his son H6680 , and charged [H8762] H1129 him to build [H8800] H1004 an house H3068 for the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel.

7 H1732 And David H559 said [H8799] H8010 to Solomon H1121 , My son H3824 , as for me, it was in my mind H1129 to build [H8800] H1004 an house H8034 unto the name H3068 of the LORD H430 my God:

8 H1697 But the word H3068 of the LORD H559 came to me, saying [H8800] H8210 , Thou hast shed [H8804] H1818 blood H7230 abundantly H6213 , and hast made [H8804] H1419 great H4421 wars H1129 : thou shalt not build [H8799] H1004 an house H8034 unto my name H8210 , because thou hast shed [H8804] H7227 much H1818 blood H776 upon the earth H6440 in my sight.

9 H1121 Behold, a son H3205 shall be born [H8737] H376 to thee, who shall be a man H4496 of rest H5117 ; and I will give him rest [H8689] H341 from all his enemies [H8802] H5439 round about H8034 : for his name H8010 shall be Solomon H5414 , and I will give [H8799] H7965 peace H8253 and quietness H3478 unto Israel H3117 in his days.

10 H1129 He shall build [H8799] H1004 an house H8034 for my name H1121 ; and he shall be my son H1 , and I will be his father H3559 ; and I will establish [H8689] H3678 the throne H4438 of his kingdom H3478 over Israel H5704 for H5769 ever.

11 H1121 Now, my son H3068 , the LORD H6743 be with thee; and prosper [H8689] H1129 thou, and build [H8804] H1004 the house H3068 of the LORD H430 thy God H1696 , as he hath said [H8765] of thee.

12 H3068 Only the LORD H5414 give [H8799] H7922 thee wisdom H998 and understanding H6680 , and give thee charge [H8762] H3478 concerning Israel H8104 , that thou mayest keep [H8800] H8451 the law H3068 of the LORD H430 thy God.

13 H6743 Then shalt thou prosper [H8686] H8104 , if thou takest heed [H8799] H6213 to fulfil [H8800] H2706 the statutes H4941 and judgments H3068 which the LORD H6680 charged [H8765] H4872 Moses H3478 with concerning Israel H2388 : be strong [H8798] H553 , and of good courage [H8798] H3372 ; dread [H8799] H2865 not, nor be dismayed [H8735] .

14 H6040 Now, behold, in my trouble H3559 I have prepared [H8689] H1004 for the house H3068 of the LORD H3967 an hundred H505 thousand H3603 talents H2091 of gold H505 , and a thousand H505 thousand H3603 talents H3701 of silver H5178 ; and of brass H1270 and iron H4948 without weight H7230 ; for it is in abundance H6086 : timber H68 also and stone H3559 have I prepared [H8689] H3254 ; and thou mayest add [H8686] thereto.

15 H6213 Moreover there are workmen [H8802] H4399 H7230 with thee in abundance H2672 , hewers [H8802] H2796 and workers H68 of stone H6086 and timber H2450 , and all manner of cunning men H4399 for every manner of work.

16 H2091 Of the gold H3701 , the silver H5178 , and the brass H1270 , and the iron H4557 , there is no number H6965 . Arise [H8798] H6213 therefore, and be doing [H8798] H3068 , and the LORD be with thee.

17 H1732 David H6680 also commanded [H8762] H8269 all the princes H3478 of Israel H5826 to help [H8800] H8010 Solomon H1121 his son, saying,

18 H3068 Is not the LORD H430 your God H5117 with you? and hath he not given you rest [H8689] H5439 on every side H5414 ? for he hath given [H8804] H3427 the inhabitants [H8802] H776 of the land H3027 into mine hand H776 ; and the land H3533 is subdued [H8738] H6440 before H3068 the LORD H6440 , and before H5971 his people.

19 H5414 Now set [H8798] H3824 your heart H5315 and your soul H1875 to seek [H8800] H3068 the LORD H430 your God H6965 ; arise [H8798] H1129 therefore, and build [H8798] H4720 ye the sanctuary H3068 of the LORD H430 God H935 , to bring [H8687] H727 the ark H1285 of the covenant H3068 of the LORD H6944 , and the holy H3627 vessels H430 of God H1004 , into the house H1129 that is to be built [H8737] H8034 to the name H3068 of the LORD.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel. ² And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God. ³ And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and brass in abundance without weight; ⁴ and cedar trees without number: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David. ⁵ And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death. ⁶ Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD, the God of Israel. ⁷ And David said to Solomon his son, As for me, it was in my heart to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God. ⁸ But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight: ⁹ Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days: ¹⁰ he shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. ¹¹ Now, my son, the LORD be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken concerning thee. ¹² Only the LORD give thee discretion and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel; that so thou mayest keep the law of the LORD thy God. ¹³ Then shalt thou prosper, if thou observe to do the statutes and the judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; fear not, neither be dismayed. ¹⁴ Now, behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto. ¹⁵ Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all men that are cunning in any manner of work; ¹⁶ of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number; arise and be doing, and the LORD be with thee. ¹⁷ David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, [saying], ¹⁸ Is not the LORD your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath delivered the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people. ¹⁹ Now set your heart and your soul to seek after the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
