H935 Then came [H8799]   H7626 all the tribes H3478 of Israel H1732 to David H2275 unto Hebron H559 , and spake [H8799]   H559 , saying [H8800]   H6106 , Behold, we are thy bone H1320 and thy flesh.
H865 Also in time past H8032   H7586 , when Saul H4428 was king H3318 over us, thou wast he that leddest out [H8688]   H935 and broughtest in [H8688]   H3478 Israel H3068 : and the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H7462 to thee, Thou shalt feed [H8799]   H5971 my people H3478 Israel H5057 , and thou shalt be a captain H3478 over Israel.
H2205 So all the elders H3478 of Israel H935 came [H8799]   H4428 to the king H2275 to Hebron H4428 ; and king H1732 David H3772 made [H8799]   H1285 a league H2275 with them in Hebron H6440 before H3068 the LORD H4886 : and they anointed [H8799]   H1732 David H4428 king H3478 over Israel.
H1732 David H7970 was thirty H8141 years H1121 old H4427 when he began to reign [H8800]   H4427 , and he reigned [H8804]   H705 forty H8141 years.
H2275 In Hebron H4427 he reigned [H8804]   H3063 over Judah H7651 seven H8141 years H8337 and six H2320 months H3389 : and in Jerusalem H4427 he reigned [H8804]   H7970 thirty H7969 and three H8141 years H3478 over all Israel H3063 and Judah.
H4428 And the king H582 and his men H3212 went [H8799]   H3389 to Jerusalem H2983 unto the Jebusites H3427 , the inhabitants [H8802]   H776 of the land H559 : which spake [H8799]   H1732 unto David H559 , saying [H8800]   H5493 , Except thou take away [H8687]   H5787 the blind H6455 and the lame H935 , thou shalt not come in [H8799]   H559 hither: thinking [H8800]   H1732 , David H935 cannot come in [H8799]   hither.
H1732 Nevertheless David H3920 took [H8799]   H4686 the strong hold H6726 of Zion H5892 : the same is the city H1732 of David.
H1732 And David H559 said [H8799]   H3117 on that day H5060 , Whosoever getteth up [H8799]   H6794 to the gutter H5221 , and smiteth [H8688]   H2983 the Jebusites H6455 , and the lame H5787 and the blind H8130 , that are hated [H8803]   H1732 of David's H5315 soul H559 , he shall be chief and captain . Wherefore they said [H8799]   H5787 , The blind H6455 and the lame H935 shall not come [H8799]   H1004 into the house.
H1732 So David H3427 dwelt [H8799]   H4686 in the fort H7121 , and called [H8799]   H5892 it the city H1732 of David H1732 . And David H1129 built [H8799]   H5439 round about H4407 from Millo H1004 and inward.
H1732 And David H3212 went [H8799]   H1980 on [H8800]   H1419 , and grew great H3068 , and the LORD H430 God H6635 of hosts was with him.
H2438 And Hiram H4428 king H6865 of Tyre H7971 sent [H8799]   H4397 messengers H1732 to David H730 , and cedar H6086 trees H2796 , and carpenters H7023 , and masons H68   H1129 : and they built [H8799]   H1732 David H1004 an house.
H1732 And David H3045 perceived [H8799]   H3068 that the LORD H3559 had established [H8689]   H4428 him king H3478 over Israel H5375 , and that he had exalted [H8765]   H4467 his kingdom H5971 for his people H3478 Israel's sake.
H1732 And David H3947 took [H8799]   H6370 him more concubines H802 and wives H3389 out of Jerusalem H310 , after H935 he was come [H8800]   H2275 from Hebron H1121 : and there were yet sons H1323 and daughters H3205 born [H8735]   H1732 to David.
H8034 And these be the names H3209 of those that were born H3389 unto him in Jerusalem H8051 ; Shammua H7727 , and Shobab H5416 , and Nathan H8010 , and Solomon,
H2984 Ibhar H474 also, and Elishua H5298 , and Nepheg H3309 , and Japhia,
H476 And Elishama H450 , and Eliada H467 , and Eliphalet.
H6430 But when the Philistines H8085 heard [H8799]   H4886 that they had anointed [H8804]   H1732 David H4428 king H3478 over Israel H6430 , all the Philistines H5927 came up [H8799]   H1245 to seek [H8763]   H1732 David H1732 ; and David H8085 heard [H8799]   H3381 of it, and went down [H8799]   H4686 to the hold.
H6430 The Philistines H935 also came [H8804]   H5203 and spread [H8735]   H6010 themselves in the valley H7497 of Rephaim.
H1732 And David H7592 enquired [H8799]   H3068 of the LORD H559 , saying [H8800]   H5927 , Shall I go up [H8799]   H6430 to the Philistines H5414 ? wilt thou deliver [H8799]   H3027 them into mine hand H3068 ? And the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H1732 unto David H5927 , Go up [H8798]   H5414 : for I will doubtless [H8800]   H5414 deliver [H8799]   H6430 the Philistines H3027 into thine hand.
H1732 And David H935 came [H8799]   H1188 to Baalperazim H1732 , and David H5221 smote [H8686]   H559 them there, and said [H8799]   H3068 , The LORD H6555 hath broken forth [H8804]   H341 upon mine enemies [H8802]   H6440 before H6556 me, as the breach H4325 of waters H7121 . Therefore he called [H8804]   H8034 the name H4725 of that place H1188 Baalperazim.
H5800 And there they left [H8799]   H6091 their images H1732 , and David H582 and his men H5375 burned [H8799]   them.
H6430 And the Philistines H5927 came up [H8800]   H3254 yet again [H8686]   H5203 , and spread [H8735]   H6010 themselves in the valley H7497 of Rephaim.
H1732 And when David H7592 enquired [H8799]   H3068 of the LORD H559 , he said [H8799]   H5927 , Thou shalt not go up [H8799]   H5437 ; but fetch a compass [H8685]   H310 behind H935 them, and come [H8804]   H4136 upon them over against H1057 the mulberry trees.
H8085 And let it be, when thou hearest [H8800]   H6963 the sound H6807 of a going H7218 in the tops H1057 of the mulberry trees H2782 , that then thou shalt bestir [H8799]   H3068 thyself: for then shall the LORD H3318 go out [H8804]   H6440 before H5221 thee, to smite [H8687]   H4264 the host H6430 of the Philistines.
H1732 And David H6213 did so [H8799]   H3068 , as the LORD H6680 had commanded [H8765]   H5221 him; and smote [H8686]   H6430 the Philistines H1387 from Geba H935 until thou come [H8800]   H1507 to Gazer.
ERV(i) 1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2 In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel. 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel. 4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six mouths: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah. 6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither. 7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion; the same is the city of David. 8 And David said on that day, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, let him get up to the watercourse, and [smite] the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul. Wherefore they say, There are the blind and the lame; he cannot come into the house. 9 And David dwelt in the strong hold, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward. 10 And David waxed greater and greater; for the LORD, the God of hosts, was with him. 11 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house. 12 And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake. 13 And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David. 14 And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon, 15 and Ibhar, and Elishua; and Nepheg, and Japhia; 16 and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphelet. 17 And when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. 18 Now the Philistines had come and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 19 And David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there; and he said, The LORD hath broken mine enemies before me, like the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim. 21 And they left their images there, and David and his men took them away. 22 And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 23 And when David inquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up: make a circuit behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. 24 And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then is the LORD gone out before thee to smite the host of the Philistines. 25 And David did so, as the LORD commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gezer.
