Jeremiah 14

KJV_Strongs(i)
H1697 The word H3068 of the LORD H3414 that came to Jeremiah H1697 concerning H1226 the dearth.
H3063 Judah H56 mourneth [H8804]   H8179 , and the gates H535 thereof languish [H8797]   H6937 ; they are black [H8804]   H776 unto the ground H6682 ; and the cry H3389 of Jerusalem H5927 is gone up [H8804]  .
H117 And their nobles H7971 have sent [H8804]   H6810 their little ones H4325 to the waters H935 : they came [H8804]   H1356 to the pits [H8676]   H1360   H4672 , and found [H8804]   H4325 no water H7725 ; they returned [H8804]   H3627 with their vessels H7387 empty H954 ; they were ashamed [H8804]   H3637 and confounded [H8717]   H2645 , and covered [H8804]   H7218 their heads.
H127 Because the ground H2865 is chapt [H8804]   H1653 , for there was no rain H776 in the earth H406 , the plowmen H954 were ashamed [H8804]   H2645 , they covered [H8804]   H7218 their heads.
H365 Yea, the hind H3205 also calved [H8804]   H7704 in the field H5800 , and forsook [H8800]   H1877 it, because there was no grass.
H6501 And the wild asses H5975 did stand [H8804]   H8205 in the high places H7602 , they snuffed up [H8804]   H7307 the wind H8577 like dragons H5869 ; their eyes H3615 did fail [H8804]   H6212 , because there was no grass.
H3068 O LORD H5771 , though our iniquities H6030 testify [H8804]   H6213 against us, do [H8798]   H8034 thou it for thy name's H4878 sake: for our backslidings H7231 are many [H8804]   H2398 ; we have sinned [H8804]   against thee.
H4723 O the hope H3478 of Israel H3467 , the saviour [H8688]   H6256 thereof in time H6869 of trouble H1616 , why shouldest thou be as a stranger H776 in the land H732 , and as a wayfaring man [H8802]   H5186 that turneth aside [H8804]   H3885 to tarry for a night [H8800]  ?
H376 Why shouldest thou be as a man H1724 astonied [H8737]   H1368 , as a mighty man H3201 that cannot [H8799]   H3467 save [H8687]   H3068 ? yet thou, O LORD H7130 , art in the midst H7121 of us, and we are called [H8738]   H8034 by thy name H3240 ; leave [H8686]   us not.
H559 Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H5971 unto this people H157 , Thus have they loved [H8804]   H5128 to wander [H8800]   H2820 , they have not refrained [H8804]   H7272 their feet H3068 , therefore the LORD H7521 doth not accept [H8804]   H2142 them; he will now remember [H8799]   H5771 their iniquity H6485 , and visit [H8799]   H2403 their sins.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H3068 the LORD H6419 unto me, Pray [H8691]   H5971 not for this people H2896 for their good.
H6684 When they fast [H8799]   H8085 , I will not hear [H8802]   H7440 their cry H5927 ; and when they offer [H8686]   H5930 burnt offering H4503 and an oblation H7521 , I will not accept [H8802]   H3615 them: but I will consume [H8764]   H2719 them by the sword H7458 , and by the famine H1698 , and by the pestilence.
H559 Then said [H8799]   H162 I, Ah H136 , Lord H3069 GOD H5030 ! behold, the prophets H559 say [H8802]   H7200 unto them, Ye shall not see [H8799]   H2719 the sword H7458 , neither shall ye have famine H5414 ; but I will give [H8799]   H571 you assured H7965 peace H4725 in this place.
H3068 Then the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H5030 unto me, The prophets H5012 prophesy [H8737]   H8267 lies H8034 in my name H7971 : I sent [H8804]   H6680 them not, neither have I commanded [H8765]   H1696 them, neither spake [H8765]   H5012 unto them: they prophesy [H8693]   H8267 unto you a false H2377 vision H7081 and divination H457 , and a thing of nought [H8675]   H434   H8649 , and the deceit H3820 of their heart.
H559 Therefore thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H5030 concerning the prophets H5012 that prophesy [H8737]   H8034 in my name H7971 , and I sent [H8804]   H559 them not, yet they say [H8802]   H2719 , Sword H7458 and famine H776 shall not be in this land H2719 ; By sword H7458 and famine H5030 shall those prophets H8552 be consumed [H8735]  .
H5971 And the people H5012 to whom they prophesy [H8737]   H7993 shall be cast out [H8716]   H2351 in the streets H3389 of Jerusalem H6440 because H7458 of the famine H2719 and the sword H6912 ; and they shall have none to bury [H8764]   H1992 them H802 , them, their wives H1121 , nor their sons H1323 , nor their daughters H8210 : for I will pour [H8804]   H7451 their wickedness upon them.
H559 Therefore thou shalt say [H8804]   H1697 this word H5869 unto them; Let mine eyes H3381 run down [H8799]   H1832 with tears H3915 night H3119 and day H1820 , and let them not cease [H8799]   H1330 : for the virgin H1323 daughter H5971 of my people H7665 is broken [H8738]   H1419 with a great H7667 breach H3966 , with a very H2470 grievous [H8737]   H4347 blow.
H3318 If I go forth [H8804]   H7704 into the field H2491 , then behold the slain H2719 with the sword H935 ! and if I enter [H8804]   H5892 into the city H8463 , then behold them that are sick H7458 with famine H5030 ! yea, both the prophet H3548 and the priest H5503 go about [H8804]   H776 into a land H3045 that they know [H8804]   not.
H3988 Hast thou utterly [H8800]   H3988 rejected [H8804]   H3063 Judah H5315 ? hath thy soul H1602 lothed [H8804]   H6726 Zion H5221 ? why hast thou smitten [H8689]   H4832 us, and there is no healing H6960 for us? we looked [H8763]   H7965 for peace H2896 , and there is no good H6256 ; and for the time H4832 of healing H1205 , and behold trouble!
H3045 We acknowledge [H8804]   H3068 , O LORD H7562 , our wickedness H5771 , and the iniquity H1 of our fathers H2398 : for we have sinned [H8804]   against thee.
H5006 Do not abhor [H8799]   H8034 us, for thy name's H5034 sake, do not disgrace [H8762]   H3678 the throne H3519 of thy glory H2142 : remember [H8798]   H6565 , break [H8686]   H1285 not thy covenant with us.
H3426 Are there H1892 any among the vanities H1471 of the Gentiles H1652 that can cause rain [H8688]   H8064 ? or can the heavens H5414 give [H8799]   H7241 showers H3068 ? art not thou he, O LORD H430 our God H6960 ? therefore we will wait [H8762]   H6213 upon thee: for thou hast made [H8804]   all these things .
ERV(i) 1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought. 2 Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof languish, they sit in black upon the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up. 3 And their nobles send their little ones to the waters: they come to the pits, and find no water; they return with their vessels empty: they are ashamed and confounded, and cover their heads. 4 Because of the ground which is chapt, for that no rain hath been in the land, the plowmen are ashamed, they cover their heads. 5 Yea, the hind also in the field calveth, and forsaketh [her young], because there is no grass. 6 And the wild asses stand on the bare heights, they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail, because there is no herbage. 7 Though our iniquities testify against us, work thou for thy name’s sake, O LORD: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee. 8 O thou hope of Israel, the saviour thereof in the time of trouble, why shouldest thou be as a sojourner in the land, and as a wayfaring man that turneth aside to tarry for a night? 9 Why shouldest thou be as a man astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not. 10 Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Even so have they loved to wander; they have not refrained their feet: therefore the LORD doth not accept them; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins. 11 And the LORD said unto me, Pray not for this people for [their] good. 12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 13 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place. 14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake I unto them: they prophesy unto you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their own heart. 15 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed. 16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them. 17 And thou shalt say this word unto them, Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease; for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound. 18 If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! for both the prophet and the priest go about in the land and have no knowledge. 19 Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold dismay! 20 We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee. 21 Do not abhor [us], for thy name’s sake; do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us. 22 Are there any among the vanities of the heathen that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee; for thou hast made all these things.
