  1 G2532 And G4160 [⁴acted G3588 ¹the G5207 ²sons G* ³of Israel] G3588   G4190 wickedly G1725 before G2962 the lord, G2532 and G3860 [²delivered them over G1473   G2962 ¹ the lord] G1722 into G5495 the hand G* of Midian G2033 for seven G2094 years.

  2 G2532 And G2729 [³prevailed G5495 ¹ the hand G* ²of Midian] G1909 against G* Israel. G575 Because of G4383 the presence G* of Midian G4160 [⁴made G1438 ⁵for themselves G3588 ¹the G5207 ²sons G* ³of Israel] G3588   G3128.1 havens G1722 in G3588 the G3735 mountains, G2532 and G3588 in the G4693 caves, G2532 and G3588 in the G3794 fortresses.

  3 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G3753 when G4687 [³sowed G435 ¹a man G* ²of Israel], G2532 that G305 there ascended up G* Midian G2532 and G* Amalek; G2532 even G3588 the G5207 sons G395 of the east G305 were ascending G1473 against them.

  4 G2532 And G3924.2 they camped G1909 by G1473 them, G2532 and G1311 they ruined G3588 the G1630.2 resources G3588 of the G1093 land G2193 unto G3588 the G2064 coming G1519 unto G* Gaza. G2532 And G3756 there was not left behind G5275   G5287 support G2222 for life G1722 in G* Israel, G2532 even G4168 for the flock, G2532 and G3448 calf, G2532 and G3688 donkey.

  5 G3754 For G1473 they G2532 and G3588   G2934 their livestock G1473   G305 ascended G2532 and G3588   G4633 [²their tents G1473   G3911 ¹they carried about with]; G2532 and G3854 they came G5613 as G200 the locusts G1519 by G4128 multitude. G2532 And G1473 for them G2532 and G3588   G2574 their camels G1473   G3756 there was no G1510.7.3   G706 number. G2532 And G3854 they came G1722 in G3588 the G1093 land G* of Israel G3588   G1311 to ruin G1473 it.

  6 G2532 And G4433 Israel became poor, G*   G4970 exceedingly, G575 from G4383 the presence G* of Midian.

  7 G2532 And G2896 [⁴cried out G3588 ¹the G5207 ²sons G* ³of Israel] G4314 to G2962 the lord . G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G1893 when G2896 [⁴cried out G3588 ¹the G5207 ²sons G* ³of Israel] G4314 to G2962 the lord G1223 on account of G* Midian,

  8 G1821 the lord sent G2962   G435 a man, G4396 a prophet, G4314 to G3588 the G5207 sons G* of Israel. G2532 And G2036 he said G1473 to them, G3592 Thus G3004 says G2962 the lord G3588   G2316 God G* of Israel, G1473 I G1510.2.1 am G3588 the one G307 bringing you up G1473   G1537 from G* Egypt, G2532 and G1806 I led G1473 you G1537 from G3624 the house G1397 of slavery;

  9 G2532 and G1807 I rescued G1473 you G1537 from G5495 the hand G* of Egypt, G2532 and G1537 from G5495 the hand G3956 of all G3588 the ones G2346 afflicting G1473 you; G2532 and G1544 I cast G1473 them G1537 from G4383 your face, G1473   G2532 and G1325 I gave G1473 to you G3588   G1093 their land.   10 G2532 And G2036 I said G1473 to you, G1473 I G1510.2.1 am G2962 the lord G3588   G2316 your God; G1473   G3756 you shall not G5399 fear G3588 the G2316 gods G3588 of the G* Amorites G1722 in G3739 which G1473 you G2730 dwell G1722 in G3588   G1093 their land. G1473   G2532 But G3756 you hearkened not to G1522   G3588   G5456 my voice. G1473  

  11 G2532 And G2064 [³came G32 ¹an angel G2962 ² of the lord] G2532 and G2523 sat G5259 under G3588 the G1409.2 oak, G3588 the one G1510.6 being G1722 in G* Ophrah, G3588 the one G3588 of the G* [²of Joash G3962 ¹father] G3588 of G* Ezri. G2532 And G* Gideon G3588   G5207 his son G1473   G4463 beat [²with a rod G4447.1 ¹wheat] G1722 in G3025 a wine-vat, G3588   G1628 to flee G1537 from G4383 the face G* of Midian.

  12 G2532 And G3708 [⁴appeared G1473 ⁵to him G3588 ¹the G32 ²angel G2962 ³ of the lord], G2532 and G2036 said G4314 to G1473 him, G2962 The lord G3326 is with G1473 you G1415 mighty G3588   G2479 in strength.

  13 G2532 And G2036 [²said G4314 ³to G1473 ⁴him G* ¹Gideon], G1722 Be it G1473 to me, G2962 O my Lord, G2532 and G1487 if G1510.2.3 the lord is G2962   G3326 with G1473 us, G2962 then why do G2444   G2147 [³find G1473 ⁴us G3956 ¹all G3588   G2556 ²these bad things]? G3778   G2532 And G4226 where G1510.2.3 are G3956 all G3588   G2297 his wonders, G1473   G3745 as many as G1334 [²described G1473 ³to us G3588   G3962 ¹our fathers], G1473   G3004 saying, G3780 Is it not G1537 from out of G* Egypt G321 [²led G1473 ³us G2962 ¹ the lord]? G2532 And G3568 now G683 he thrust us away, G1473   G2532 and G3860 delivered us over G1473   G1722 into G5495 the hand G* of Midian.

  14 G2532 And G1914 [⁴looked G4314 ⁵towards G1473 ⁶him G3588 ¹the G32 ²angel G2962 ³ of the lord], G2532 and G2036 said G1473 to him, G4198 Go G1722 in G3588   G2479 [²your strength G1473   G3778 ¹this]! G2532 and G4982 you shall deliver G3588   G* Israel. G2400 Behold, G1821 I send G1473 you.

  15 G2532 And G2036 [²said G4314 ³to G1473 ⁴him G* ¹Gideon], G1722 Be it G1473 to me, G2962 O my Lord, G1473   G1722 by G5100 what means G4982 shall I deliver G3588   G* Israel? G2400 Behold, G3588   G5505 my thousand G1473   G5011 is humbler G1722 in G* Manasseh, G2532 and G1473 I G1510.2.1 am G3397 the lesser G1722 in G3624 the house G3588   G3962 of my father. G1473  

  16 G2532 And G2036 [²said G4314 ³to G1473 ⁴him G2962 ¹ The lord] G3754 that, G1510.8.1 I will be G3326 with G1473 you, G2532 and G3960 you shall strike G3588   G* Midian G5616 as G435 [²man G1520 ¹one].

  17 G2532 And G2036 [²said G4314 ³to G1473 ⁴him G* ¹Gideon], G2532 And G1487 if G2147 I found G5484 favor G1722 in G3788 your eyes, G1473   G2532 then G4160 you shall give G1473 to me G4592 a sign G3754 that G1473 you G2980 spoke G3326 with G1473 me.

  18 G3361 In no way should G1211   G5563 you separate G1782 from here G2193 until G3588   G2064 [²coming G1473 ¹my] G4314 to G1473 you, G2532 and G5342 I shall bring G3588   G2378 my sacrifice, G1473   G2532 and G2380 I shall sacrifice G1799 before G1473   G1473 you. G2532 And G2036 he said, G1473 I G1510.2.1 am G2521 settled G2193 until G3588   G1994 you return. G1473  

  19 G2532 And G* Gideon G1525 entered G2532 and G4160 prepared G2056 a kid G137.1 of the goats, G2532 and G3634.1 an ephah G224 [²flour G106 ¹of unleavened], G2532 and G3588 [²the G2907 ³meats G5087 ¹he put] G1909 upon G3588 the G2582.2 bin, G2532 and G3588 the G2222.1 broth G1471.8 he poured G1519 into G5559.4 an earthen pot, G2532 and G1627 he brought it G4314 to G1473 him G5259 under G3588 the G1409.2 oak, G2532 and G4352 did obeisance.

  20 G2532 And G2036 [⁴said G4314 ⁵to G1473 ⁶him G3588 ¹the G32 ²angel G2962 ³ of the lord], G2983 Take G3588 the G2907 meats G2532 and G3588 the G106 unleavened breads, G2532 and G5087 put them G4314 on G3588   G4073 that rock, G1565   G2532 and G3588 [²the G2222.1 ³broth G1632 ¹pour out]! G2532 And G4160 he did G3779 so.

  21 G2532 And G1614 [⁴stretched out G3588 ¹the G32 ²angel G2962 ³ of the lord] G3588 the G206.1 tip G3588 of the G4464 rod G3588   G1722 in G3588   G5495 his hand, G1473   G2532 and G680 touched G3588 of the G2907 meats, G2532 and G3588 of the G106 unleavened breads; G2532 and G381 [²was lit G4442 ¹fire] G1537 from out of G3588 the G4073 rock, G2532 and G2719 it devoured G3588 the G2907 meats G2532 and G3588 the G106 unleavened breads . G2532 And G3588 the G32 angel G2962 of the lord G565 departed G575 from G3788 his eyes. G1473  

  22 G2532 And G1492 Gideon knew G*   G3754 that G32 [² the angel G2962 ³ of the lord G1510.2.3 ¹it is]. G2532 And G2036 Gideon said, G*   G3629.3 Alas, G2962 O my Lord, G1473   G2962 O lord, G3754 for G1492 I beheld G3588 the G32 angel G2962 of the lord G4383 face G4314 to G4383 face.

  23 G2532 And G2036 [²said G1473 ³to him G2962 ¹ the lord], G1515 Peace G1473 to you, G3361 do not G5399 fear, G3766.2 in no way G599 shall you die.

  24 G2532 And G3618 [²built G1563 ³there G* ¹Gideon] G2379 an altar G3588 to the G2962 lord . G2532 And G2564 he called G1473 it, G2962 Peace of the lord, G1515   G2193 until G3588   G2250 this day. G3778   G2089 It is still G1473   G1510.6 being G1722 with G* Ephratah G3962 father G3588   G* of Ezri.

  25 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G1722 in G3588   G3571 that night, G1565   G2532 that G2036 [²said G1473 ³to him G2962 ¹ the lord], G2983 Take G3588 the G3448 [²calf G3588   G4618 ¹well fed] G3588   G3962 of your father, G1473   G2532 and G3588 the G3448 [²calf G1208 ¹second] G2033.1 of seven years old! G2532 And G2507 you shall demolish G3588 the G2379 altar G3588   G* of Baal G3739 which G1510.2.3 is G3588   G3962 of your father; G1473   G2532 and G3588 the G251.1 sacred grove G3588   G1909 by G1473 it G1581 you shall cut down.

  26 G2532 And G3618 you shall build G2379 an altar G3588 to the G2962 lord G3588   G2316 your God, G1473   G3588 to the one G3708 appearing G1473 to you G1909 upon G3588 the G2884.2 top G3588   G3735 [²mountain G* ³of Maoz G3778 ¹of this] G1722 in G3588 the G3904.3 battle array. G2532 And G2983 you shall take G4862 with G3588 the G3448 [²calf G3588   G1208 ¹second], G2532 and G399 you shall offer G3646 whole burnt-offerings G1722 in G3588 the G3586 trees G3588 of the G251.1 sacred grove G3739 which G1581 you cut down.

  27 G2532 And G2983 Gideon took G*   G1176 ten G435 men G575 from G3588   G1401 his manservants, G1473   G2532 and G4160 he did G2505 as G2980 [²spoke G4314 ³to G1473 ⁴him G2962 ¹ the lord]. G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G5613 that G5399 he feared G3588 the G3624 household G3588   G3962 of his father, G1473   G2532 and G3588 the G435 men G3588 of the G4172 city, G3588   G3361 so as to not act G4160   G2250 by day, G2532 and G4160 he acted it G3571 by night.

  28 G2532 And G3719 [⁵rose early G3588 ¹the G435 ²men G3588 ³of the G4172 ⁴city] G4404 in the morning; G2532 and G2400 behold, G2679 [⁴was razed G3588 ¹the G2379 ²altar G3588   G* ³of Baal], G2532 and G3588 the G251.1 sacred grove G3588   G1909 by G1473 it G1581 was cut down; G2532 and G3588 the G3448 [²calf G3588   G4618 ¹well fed] G399 was offered G1519 for G3646 a whole burnt-offering G1909 upon G3588 the G2379 altar G3588   G3618 having been built.

  29 G2532 And G2036 [²said G435 ¹ each man] G4314 to G3588   G4139 his neighbor, G1473   G5100 Who G4160 did G3588   G4229 this thing? G3778   G2532 And G426 they investigated G2532 and G1567 inquired. G2532 And G2036 they said, G* Gideon G5207 son G* of Joash G4160 did G3588   G4229 this thing. G3778  

  30 G2532 And G2036 [⁵said G3588 ¹the G435 ²men G3588 ³of the G4172 ⁴city] G4314 to G* Joash, G1806 Lead out G3588   G5207 your son G1473   G2532 and G599 let him die! G3754 for G2679 he razed G3588 the G2379 altar G3588   G* of Baal, G2532 and G3754 because G1581 he cut down G3588 the G251.1 sacred grove G3588   G1909 by G1473 it.

  31 G2532 And G2036 Joash said G*   G4314 to G3588 the G435 men G3588   G1881 rising G1909 against G1473 him, G3361 Do you G1473   G3568 now G1340.1 adjudicate G4012 for G3588   G* Baal? G2228 or G1473 shall you G4982 deliver G1473 him? G3739 Who G302 ever G475.2 pleaded G1473 to him G599 let die G2193 in G4404 the morning. G1487 If G2316 [²God G1473 ¹he is], G1510.2.3   G1556 he shall avenge G1438 for himself, G3754 for G2679 he razed G3588   G2379 his altar. G1473  

  32 G2532 And G2564 he called G1473 him G1722 in G3588   G2250 that day, G1565   G* Jerubbaal, G3004 saying, G1347.1 The court of justice G3588   G* of Baal, G3754 for G2679 he razed G3588   G2379 his altar. G1473  

  33 G2532 And G3956 all G* Midian G2532 and G* Amalek G2532 and G3588 the G5207 sons G395 of the east G4863 came together G1909 at G3588 the G1473 same place, G2532 and G1224 they passed over G2532 and G3924.2 camped G1722 in G3588 the G2835.1 valley G* of Jezreel.

  34 G2532 And G4151 spirit G2316 of God G1743 empowered G3588   G* Gideon, G2532 and G4537 he trumped G1722 with G2768.4 the horn; G2532 and G994 he called for aid G* to Abiezer G3694 after G1473 him.

  35 G2532 And G32 [²messengers G1821 ¹he sent] G1722 to G3956 all G* Manasseh, G2532 and G994 he called G2532 also G1473 himself G3694 others after G1473 him. G2532 And G32 [²messengers G1821 ¹he sent out] G1722 in G* Asher, G2532 and G1722 in G* Zebulun, G2532 and G1722 in G* Naphtali. G2532 And G305 they ascended G1519 for G529 meeting G1473 him.

  36 G2532 And G2036 Gideon said G*   G4314 to G3588   G2316 God, G1487 If G4982 you deliver G1722 [²by G5495 ³my hand G1473   G3588   G* ¹Israel], G2531 as G2980 you spoke,

  37 G2400 behold, G1473 I G562.1 fasten G3588 the G4169.1 fleece G3588   G2053 of wool pieces G1722 in G3588 the G257 threshing-floor. G2532 And G1437 if G1408.1 dew G1096 comes G1909 upon G3588 the G4169.1 fleece G3440 only, G2532 and G1909 upon G3956 all G3588 the G1093 earth G3583.1 be dryness, G2532 then G1097 I will know G3754 that G4982 you shall deliver G1722 [²by G5495 ³my hand G1473   G3588   G* ¹Israel] G3739 in which G5158 manner G2980 you spoke.

  38 G2532 And G1096 it came to pass G3779 thus. G2532 And G3719 Gideon rose early G*   G3588 on the G1887 next day, G2532 and G633.7 he squeezed out G3588 the G4169.1 fleece, G2532 and G4712.1 [²dripped G1408.1 ¹dew] G1537 from G3588 the G4169.1 fleece -- G4134 a full G3011.3 pan G5204 of water.

  39 G2532 And G2036 Gideon said G*   G4314 to G3588   G2316 God, G3361 Let not G3710 [²be provoked to anger G3588   G2372 ¹your rage] G1473   G1722 against G1473 me! G2532 for G2980 I will speak G2089 still G530 once more, G2532 and G3985 I will test G2089 still G530 once more G1722 by G3588 the G4169.1 fleece. G2532 And G1096 let there become G2089 yet G3583.1 dryness G1909 upon G3588 the G4169.1 fleece G3440 only, G1909 and upon G1161   G3956 all G3588 the G1093 ground G1096 let there become G1408.1 dew!

  40 G2532 And G4160 God did G3588   G2316   G3779 so G1722 in G3588   G3571 that night. G1565   G2532 And G1096 there was G3583.1 dryness G1909 upon G3588 the G4169.1 fleece G3440 only, G1909 and upon G1161   G3956 all G3588 the G1093 ground G1096 became G1408.1 dew.
