2 Chronicles 6

KJV_Strongs(i)
  1 H559 Then said [H8804]   H8010 Solomon H3068 , The LORD H559 hath said [H8804]   H7931 that he would dwell [H8800]   H6205 in the thick darkness.
  2 H1129 But I have built [H8804]   H1004 an house H2073 of habitation H4349 for thee, and a place H3427 for thy dwelling [H8800]   H5769 for ever.
  3 H4428 And the king H5437 turned [H8686]   H6440 his face H1288 , and blessed [H8762]   H6951 the whole congregation H3478 of Israel H6951 : and all the congregation H3478 of Israel H5975 stood [H8802]  .
  4 H559 And he said [H8799]   H1288 , Blessed [H8803]   H3068 be the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H3027 , who hath with his hands H4390 fulfilled [H8765]   H1696 that which he spake [H8765]   H6310 with his mouth H1 to my father H1732 David H559 , saying [H8800]  ,
  5 H3117 Since the day H3318 that I brought forth [H8689]   H5971 my people H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt H977 I chose [H8804]   H5892 no city H7626 among all the tribes H3478 of Israel H1129 to build [H8800]   H1004 an house H8034 in, that my name H977 might be there; neither chose [H8804]   H376 I any man H5057 to be a ruler H5971 over my people H3478 Israel:
  6 H977 But I have chosen [H8799]   H3389 Jerusalem H8034 , that my name H977 might be there; and have chosen [H8799]   H1732 David H5971 to be over my people H3478 Israel.
  7 H3824 Now it was in the heart H1732 of David H1 my father H1129 to build [H8800]   H1004 an house H8034 for the name H3068 of the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel.
  8 H3068 But the LORD H559 said [H8799]   H1732 to David H1 my father H3824 , Forasmuch as it was in thine heart H1129 to build [H8800]   H1004 an house H8034 for my name H2895 , thou didst well [H8689]   H3824 in that it was in thine heart:
  9 H7535 Notwithstanding H1129 thou shalt not build [H8799]   H1004 the house H1121 ; but thy son H3318 which shall come forth [H8802]   H2504 out of thy loins H1129 , he shall build [H8799]   H1004 the house H8034 for my name.
  10 H3068 The LORD H6965 therefore hath performed [H8686]   H1697 his word H1696 that he hath spoken [H8765]   H6965 : for I am risen up [H8799]   H1732 in the room of David H1 my father H3427 , and am set [H8799]   H3678 on the throne H3478 of Israel H3068 , as the LORD H1696 promised [H8765]   H1129 , and have built [H8799]   H1004 the house H8034 for the name H3068 of the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel.
  11 H8033 And in it H7760 have I put [H8799]   H727 the ark H1285 , wherein is the covenant H3068 of the LORD H3772 , that he made [H8804]   H1121 with the children H3478 of Israel.
  12 H5975 And he stood [H8799]   H6440 before H4196 the altar H3068 of the LORD H6951 in the presence of all the congregation H3478 of Israel H6566 , and spread forth [H8799]   H3709 his hands:
  13 H8010 For Solomon H6213 had made [H8804]   H5178 a brasen H3595 scaffold H2568 , of five H520 cubits H753 long H2568 , and five H520 cubits H7341 broad H7969 , and three H520 cubits H6967 high H5414 , and had set [H8799]   H8432 it in the midst H5835 of the court H5975 : and upon it he stood [H8799]   H1288 , and kneeled down [H8799]   H1290 upon his knees H6951 before all the congregation H3478 of Israel H6566 , and spread forth [H8799]   H3709 his hands H8064 toward heaven,
  14 H559 And said [H8799]   H3068 , O LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H430 , there is no God H8064 like thee in the heaven H776 , nor in the earth H8104 ; which keepest [H8802]   H1285 covenant H2617 , and shewest mercy H5650 unto thy servants H1980 , that walk [H8802]   H6440 before H3820 thee with all their hearts:
  15 H8104 Thou which hast kept [H8804]   H5650 with thy servant H1732 David H1 my father H1696 that which thou hast promised [H8765]   H1696 him; and spakest [H8762]   H6310 with thy mouth H4390 , and hast fulfilled [H8765]   H3027 it with thine hand H3117 , as it is this day.
  16 H3068 Now therefore, O LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H8104 , keep [H8798]   H5650 with thy servant H1732 David H1 my father H1696 that which thou hast promised [H8765]   H559 him, saying [H8800]   H3772 , There shall not fail [H8735]   H376 thee a man H6440 in my sight H3427 to sit [H8802]   H3678 upon the throne H3478 of Israel H7535 ; yet so H1121 that thy children H8104 take heed [H8799]   H1870 to their way H3212 to walk [H8800]   H8451 in my law H1980 , as thou hast walked [H8804]   H6440 before me.
  17 H3068 Now then, O LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H1697 , let thy word H539 be verified [H8735]   H1696 , which thou hast spoken [H8765]   H5650 unto thy servant H1732 David.
  18 H430 But will God H552 in very deed H3427 dwell [H8799]   H120 with men H776 on the earth H8064 ? behold, heaven H8064 and the heaven H8064 of heavens H3557 cannot contain [H8770]   H1004 thee; how much less this house H1129 which I have built [H8804]  !
  19 H6437 Have respect [H8804]   H8605 therefore to the prayer H5650 of thy servant H8467 , and to his supplication H3068 , O LORD H430 my God H8085 , to hearken [H8800]   H7440 unto the cry H8605 and the prayer H5650 which thy servant H6419 prayeth [H8693]   H6440 before thee:
  20 H5869 That thine eyes H6605 may be open [H8803]   H1004 upon this house H3119 day H3915 and night H4725 , upon the place H559 whereof thou hast said [H8804]   H7760 that thou wouldest put [H8800]   H8034 thy name H8085 there; to hearken [H8800]   H8605 unto the prayer H5650 which thy servant H6419 prayeth [H8691]   H4725 toward this place.
  21 H8085 Hearken [H8804]   H8469 therefore unto the supplications H5650 of thy servant H5971 , and of thy people H3478 Israel H6419 , which they shall make [H8691]   H4725 toward this place H8085 : hear [H8799]   H3427 thou from thy dwelling [H8800]   H4725 place H8064 , even from heaven H8085 ; and when thou hearest [H8804]   H5545 , forgive [H8804]  .
  22 H376 If a man H2398 sin [H8799]   H7453 against his neighbour H423 , and an oath H5375 be laid [H8804]   H422 upon him to make him swear [H8687]   H423 , and the oath H935 come [H8804]   H6440 before H4196 thine altar H1004 in this house;
  23 H8085 Then hear [H8799]   H8064 thou from heaven H6213 , and do [H8804]   H8199 , and judge [H8804]   H5650 thy servants H7725 , by requiting [H8687]   H7563 the wicked H5414 , by recompensing [H8800]   H1870 his way H7218 upon his own head H6663 ; and by justifying [H8687]   H6662 the righteous H5414 , by giving [H8800]   H6666 him according to his righteousness.
  24 H5971 And if thy people H3478 Israel H5062 be put to the worse [H8735]   H6440 before H341 the enemy [H8802]   H2398 , because they have sinned [H8799]   H7725 against thee; and shall return [H8804]   H3034 and confess [H8689]   H8034 thy name H6419 , and pray [H8694]   H2603 and make supplication [H8694]   H6440 before H1004 thee in this house;
  25 H8085 Then hear [H8799]   H8064 thou from the heavens H5545 , and forgive [H8804]   H2403 the sin H5971 of thy people H3478 Israel H7725 , and bring them again [H8689]   H127 unto the land H5414 which thou gavest [H8804]   H1 to them and to their fathers.
  26 H8064 When the heaven H6113 is shut up [H8736]   H4306 , and there is no rain H2398 , because they have sinned [H8799]   H6419 against thee; yet if they pray [H8694]   H4725 toward this place H3034 , and confess [H8689]   H8034 thy name H7725 , and turn [H8799]   H2403 from their sin H6031 , when thou dost afflict [H8686]   them;
  27 H8085 Then hear [H8799]   H8064 thou from heaven H5545 , and forgive [H8804]   H2403 the sin H5650 of thy servants H5971 , and of thy people H3478 Israel H3384 , when thou hast taught [H8686]   H2896 them the good H1870 way H3212 , wherein they should walk [H8799]   H5414 ; and send [H8804]   H4306 rain H776 upon thy land H5414 , which thou hast given [H8804]   H5971 unto thy people H5159 for an inheritance.
  28 H7458 If there be dearth H776 in the land H1698 , if there be pestilence H7711 , if there be blasting H3420 , or mildew H697 , locusts H2625 , or caterpillers H341 ; if their enemies [H8802]   H6887 besiege [H8686]   H8179 them in the cities H776 of their land H5061 ; whatsoever sore H4245 or whatsoever sickness there be :
  29 H8605 Then what prayer H8467 or what supplication H120 soever shall be made of any man H5971 , or of all thy people H3478 Israel H376 , when every one H3045 shall know [H8799]   H5061 his own sore H4341 and his own grief H6566 , and shall spread forth [H8804]   H3709 his hands H1004 in this house:
  30 H8085 Then hear [H8799]   H8064 thou from heaven H3427 thy dwelling [H8800]   H4349 place H5545 , and forgive [H8804]   H5414 , and render [H8804]   H376 unto every man H1870 according unto all his ways H3824 , whose heart H3045 thou knowest [H8799]   H3045 ; (for thou only knowest [H8804]   H3824 the hearts H1121 of the children H120 of men:)
  31 H3372 That they may fear [H8799]   H3212 thee, to walk [H8800]   H1870 in thy ways H3117 , so long as H2416 they live H6440   H127 in the land H5414 which thou gavest [H8804]   H1 unto our fathers.
  32 H5237 Moreover concerning the stranger H5971 , which is not of thy people H3478 Israel H935 , but is come [H8804]   H7350 from a far H776 country H1419 for thy great H8034 name's H2389 sake, and thy mighty H3027 hand H5186 , and thy stretched out [H8803]   H2220 arm H935 ; if they come [H8804]   H6419 and pray [H8694]   H1004 in this house;
  33 H8085 Then hear [H8799]   H8064 thou from the heavens H3427 , even from thy dwelling [H8800]   H4349 place H6213 , and do [H8804]   H5237 according to all that the stranger H7121 calleth [H8799]   H5971 to thee for; that all people H776 of the earth H3045 may know [H8799]   H8034 thy name H3372 , and fear [H8800]   H5971 thee, as doth thy people H3478 Israel H3045 , and may know [H8800]   H1004 that this house H1129 which I have built [H8804]   H7121 is called [H8738]   H8034 by thy name.
  34 H5971 If thy people H3318 go out [H8799]   H4421 to war H341 against their enemies [H8802]   H1870 by the way H7971 that thou shalt send [H8799]   H6419 them, and they pray [H8694]   H1870 unto thee toward H5892 this city H977 which thou hast chosen [H8804]   H1004 , and the house H1129 which I have built [H8804]   H8034 for thy name;
  35 H8085 Then hear [H8804]   H8064 thou from the heavens H8605 their prayer H8467 and their supplication H6213 , and maintain [H8804]   H4941 their cause.
  36 H2398 If they sin [H8799]   H120 against thee, (for there is no man H2398 which sinneth [H8799]   H599 not,) and thou be angry [H8804]   H5414 with them, and deliver [H8804]   H6440 them over before H341 their enemies [H8802]   H7617 , and they carry them away [H8804]   H7617 captives [H8802]   H776 unto a land H7350 far off H7138 or near;
  37 H7725 Yet if they bethink [H8689]   H3824   H776 themselves in the land H7617 whither they are carried captive [H8738]   H7725 , and turn [H8804]   H2603 and pray [H8694]   H776 unto thee in the land H7628 of their captivity H559 , saying [H8800]   H2398 , We have sinned [H8804]   H5753 , we have done amiss [H8689]   H7561 , and have dealt wickedly [H8804]  ;
  38 H7725 If they return [H8804]   H3820 to thee with all their heart H5315 and with all their soul H776 in the land H7628 of their captivity H7617 , whither they have carried them captives [H8804]   H6419 , and pray [H8694]   H1870 toward H776 their land H5414 , which thou gavest [H8804]   H1 unto their fathers H5892 , and toward the city H977 which thou hast chosen [H8804]   H1004 , and toward the house H1129 which I have built [H8804]   H8034 for thy name:
  39 H8085 Then hear [H8804]   H8064 thou from the heavens H3427 , even from thy dwelling [H8800]   H4349 place H8605 , their prayer H8467 and their supplications H6213 , and maintain [H8804]   H4941 their cause H5545 , and forgive [H8804]   H5971 thy people H2398 which have sinned [H8804]   against thee.
  40 H430 Now, my God H5869 , let, I beseech thee, thine eyes H6605 be open [H8803]   H241 , and let thine ears H7183 be attent H8605 unto the prayer H4725 that is made in this place.
  41 H6965 Now therefore arise [H8798]   H3068 , O LORD H430 God H5118 , into thy resting H727 place, thou, and the ark H5797 of thy strength H3548 : let thy priests H3068 , O LORD H430 God H3847 , be clothed [H8799]   H8668 with salvation H2623 , and let thy saints H8055 rejoice [H8799]   H2896 in goodness.
  42 H3068 O LORD H430 God H7725 , turn not away [H8686]   H6440 the face H4899 of thine anointed H2142 : remember [H8798]   H2617 the mercies H1732 of David H5650 thy servant.
ERV(i) 1 Then spake Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. 2 But I have built thee an house of habitation, and a place for thee to dwell in for ever. 3 And the king turned his face, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood. 4 And he said, Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying, 5 Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be prince over my people Israel: 6 but I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel. 7 Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 8 But the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart: 9 nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name. 10 And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake; for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 11 And there have I set the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with the children of Israel. 12 And he stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands: 13 (for Solomon had made a brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:) 14 and he said, O LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in the heaven, or in the earth; who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants, that walk before thee with all their heart: 15 who hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou didst promise him: yea, thou spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day. 16 Now therefore, O LORD, the God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; if only thy children take heed to their way, to walk in my law as thou hast walked before me. 17 Now therefore, O LORD, the God of Israel, let thy word be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David. 18 But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have builded! 19 Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayeth before thee: 20 that thine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name there; to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall pray toward this place. 21 And hearken thou to the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: yea, hear thou from thy dwelling place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive. 22 If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and he come [and] swear before thine altar in this house: 23 then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, requiting the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness. 24 And if thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; and shall turn again and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this house: 25 then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers. 26 When the heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou dost afflict them: 27 then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou teachest them the good way wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance. 28 If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting or mildew, locust or caterpiller; if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague or whatsoever sickness there be; 29 what prayer and supplication soever be made by any man or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man his own plague and his own sorrow, and shall spread forth his hands toward this house: 30 then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according to all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of the children of men;) 31 that they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers. 32 Moreover concerning the stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, when he shall come from a far country for thy great name’s sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; when they shall come and pay toward this house: 33 then hear thou from heaven, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all the peoples of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built, is called by thy name. 34 If thy people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatsoever way thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name: 35 then hear thou from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. 36 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto a land far off or near; 37 yet if they shall bethink themselves, in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn again, and make supplication unto thee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely, and have dealt wickedly; 38 if they return unto thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whither they have carried them captive, and pray toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, and the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thy name: 39 then hear thou from heaven, even from thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause; and forgive thy people which have sinned against thee. 40 Now, O my God, let, I beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place. 41 Now therefore arise, O LORD God, into thy resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let thy saints rejoice in goodness. 42 O LORD God, turn not away the face of thine anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.
