KJV_Strongs(i)
H8147 In the second H8141 year H3101 of Joash H1121 son H3099 of Jehoahaz H4428 king H3478 of Israel H4427 reigned [H8804]   H558 Amaziah H1121 the son H3101 of Joash H4428 king H3063 of Judah.
H6242 He was twenty H2568 and five H8141 years H1121 old H4427 when he began to reign [H8800]   H4427 , and reigned [H8804]   H6242 twenty H8672 and nine H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem H517 . And his mother's H8034 name H3086 was Jehoaddan H3389 of Jerusalem.
H6213 And he did [H8799]   H3477 that which was right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD H7535 , yet H1732 not like David H1 his father H6213 : he did [H8804]   H3101 according to all things as Joash H1 his father H6213 did [H8804]  .
H1116 Howbeit the high places H5493 were not taken away [H8804]   H5750 : as yet H5971 the people H2076 did sacrifice [H8764]   H6999 and burnt incense [H8764]   H1116 on the high places.
H4467 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom H2388 was confirmed [H8804]   H3027 in his hand H5221 , that he slew [H8686]   H5650 his servants H5221 which had slain [H8688]   H4428 the king H1 his father.
H1121 But the children H5221 of the murderers [H8688]   H4191 he slew [H8689]   H3789 not: according unto that which is written [H8803]   H5612 in the book H8451 of the law H4872 of Moses H3068 , wherein the LORD H6680 commanded [H8765]   H559 , saying [H8800]   H1 , The fathers H4191 shall not be put to death [H8714]   H1121 for the children H1121 , nor the children H4191 be put to death [H8714]   H1 for the fathers H376 ; but every man H4191 shall be put to death [H8799]   H2399 for his own sin.
H5221 He slew [H8689]   H123 of Edom H1516 in the valley H4417 of salt H6235 ten H505 thousand H8610 , and took [H8804]   H5554 Selah H4421 by war H7121 , and called [H8799]   H8034 the name H3371 of it Joktheel H3117 unto this day.
H558 Then Amaziah H7971 sent [H8804]   H4397 messengers H3060 to Jehoash H1121 , the son H3059 of Jehoahaz H1121 son H3058 of Jehu H4428 , king H3478 of Israel H559 , saying [H8800]   H3212 , Come [H8798]   H7200 , let us look [H8691]   H6440 one another in the face.
H3060 And Jehoash H4428 the king H3478 of Israel H7971 sent [H8799]   H558 to Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H559 , saying [H8800]   H2336 , The thistle H3844 that was in Lebanon H7971 sent [H8804]   H730 to the cedar H3844 that was in Lebanon H559 , saying [H8800]   H5414 , Give [H8798]   H1323 thy daughter H1121 to my son H802 to wife H5674 : and there passed [H8799]   H7704 by a wild H2416 beast H3844 that was in Lebanon H7429 , and trode down [H8799]   H2336 the thistle.
H5221 Thou hast indeed [H8687]   H5221 smitten [H8689]   H123 Edom H3820 , and thine heart H5375 hath lifted thee up [H8804]   H3513 : glory [H8734]   H3427 of this, and tarry [H8798]   H1004 at home H1624 : for why shouldest thou meddle [H8691]   H7451 to thy hurt H5307 , that thou shouldest fall [H8804]   H3063 , even thou, and Judah with thee?
H558 But Amaziah H8085 would not hear [H8804]   H3060 . Therefore Jehoash H4428 king H3478 of Israel H5927 went up [H8799]   H558 ; and he and Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H7200 looked [H8691]   H6440 one another in the face H1053 at Bethshemesh H3063 , which belongeth to Judah.
H3063 And Judah H5062 was put to the worse [H8735]   H6440 before H3478 Israel H5127 ; and they fled [H8799]   H376 every man H168 to their tents.
H3060 And Jehoash H4428 king H3478 of Israel H8610 took [H8804]   H558 Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H1121 , the son H3060 of Jehoash H1121 the son H274 of Ahaziah H1053 , at Bethshemesh H935 , and came [H8799]   H3389 to Jerusalem H6555 , and brake down [H8799]   H2346 the wall H3389 of Jerusalem H8179 from the gate H669 of Ephraim H6438 unto the corner H8179 gate H702 , four H3967 hundred H520 cubits.
H3947 And he took [H8804]   H2091 all the gold H3701 and silver H3627 , and all the vessels H4672 that were found [H8737]   H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD H214 , and in the treasures H4428 of the king's H1004 house H1121 , and hostages H8594   H7725 , and returned [H8799]   H8111 to Samaria.
H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H3060 of Jehoash H6213 which he did [H8804]   H1369 , and his might H3898 , and how he fought [H8738]   H558 with Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3789 , are they not written [H8803]   H5612 in the book H1697 of the chronicles H3117   H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel?
H3060 And Jehoash H7901 slept [H8799]   H1 with his fathers H6912 , and was buried [H8735]   H8111 in Samaria H4428 with the kings H3478 of Israel H3379 ; and Jeroboam H1121 his son H4427 reigned [H8799]   in his stead.
H558 And Amaziah H1121 the son H3101 of Joash H4428 king H3063 of Judah H2421 lived [H8799]   H310 after H4194 the death H3060 of Jehoash H1121 son H3059 of Jehoahaz H4428 king H3478 of Israel H2568 fifteen H6240   H8141 years.
H3499 And the rest H1697 of the acts H558 of Amaziah H3789 , are they not written [H8803]   H5612 in the book H1697 of the chronicles H3117   H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah?
H7194 Now they made [H8799]   H7195 a conspiracy H3389 against him in Jerusalem H5127 : and he fled [H8799]   H3923 to Lachish H7971 ; but they sent [H8799]   H310 after H3923 him to Lachish H4191 , and slew [H8686]   him there.
H5375 And they brought [H8799]   H5483 him on horses H6912 : and he was buried [H8735]   H3389 at Jerusalem H1 with his fathers H5892 in the city H1732 of David.
H5971 And all the people H3063 of Judah H3947 took [H8799]   H5838 Azariah H8337 , which was sixteen H6240   H8141 years H1121 old H4427 , and made him king [H8686]   H1 instead of his father H558 Amaziah.
H1129 He built [H8804]   H359 Elath H7725 , and restored [H8686]   H3063 it to Judah H310 , after H4428 that the king H7901 slept [H8800]   H1 with his fathers.
H2568 In the fifteenth H6240   H8141   H8141 year H558 of Amaziah H1121 the son H3101 of Joash H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3379 Jeroboam H1121 the son H3101 of Joash H4428 king H3478 of Israel H4427 began to reign [H8804]   H8111 in Samaria H705 , and reigned forty H259 and one H8141 years.
H6213 And he did [H8799]   H7451 that which was evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of the LORD H5493 : he departed [H8804]   H2403 not from all the sins H3379 of Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat H3478 , who made Israel H2398 to sin [H8689]  .
H7725 He restored [H8689]   H1366 the coast H3478 of Israel H935 from the entering [H8800]   H2574 of Hamath H3220 unto the sea H6160 of the plain H1697 , according to the word H3068 of the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H1696 , which he spake [H8765]   H3027 by the hand H5650 of his servant H3124 Jonah H1121 , the son H573 of Amittai H5030 , the prophet H1662 , which was of Gathhepher.
H3068 For the LORD H7200 saw [H8804]   H6040 the affliction H3478 of Israel H3966 , that it was very H4784 bitter [H8802]   H657 : for there was not H6113 any shut up [H8803]   H5800 , nor any left [H8803]   H5826 , nor any helper [H8802]   H3478 for Israel.
H3068 And the LORD H1696 said [H8765]   H4229 not that he would blot out [H8800]   H8034 the name H3478 of Israel H8064 from under heaven H3467 : but he saved [H8686]   H3027 them by the hand H3379 of Jeroboam H1121 the son H3101 of Joash.
H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H3379 of Jeroboam H6213 , and all that he did [H8804]   H1369 , and his might H3898 , how he warred [H8738]   H7725 , and how he recovered [H8689]   H1834 Damascus H2574 , and Hamath H3063 , which belonged to Judah H3478 , for Israel H3789 , are they not written [H8803]   H5612 in the book H1697 of the chronicles H3117   H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel?
H3379 And Jeroboam H7901 slept [H8799]   H1 with his fathers H4428 , even with the kings H3478 of Israel H2148 ; and Zachariah H1121 his son H4427 reigned [H8799]   in his stead.
ERV(i) 1 In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign. 2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem. 3 And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done. 4 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. 5 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father: 6 but the children of the murderers he put not to death: according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin. 7 He slew of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called the name of it Joktheel, unto this day. 8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face. 9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle. 10 Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee? 11 But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah. 12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent. 13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubists. 14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria. 15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead. 17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years. 18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 19 And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there. 20 And they brought him upon horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David. 21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah. 22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers. 23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, [and reigned] forty and one years. 24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin. 25 He restored the border of Israel from the entering in of Hamath unto the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher. 26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel. 27 And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash. 28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, [which had belonged] to Judah, for Israel, are they hot written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? 29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
