Matthew 2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king , behold , there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

3 G1161 When G2264 Herod G935 the king G191 had heard [G5660] G5015 these things, he was troubled [G5681] G2532 , and G3956 all G2414 Jerusalem G3326 with G846 him.

4 G2532 And G4863 when he had gathered G3956 all G749 the chief priests G2532 and G1122 scribes G2992 of the people G4863 together [G5631] G4441 , he demanded [G5711] G3844 of G846 them G4226 where G5547 Christ G1080 should be born [G5743] .

5 G1161 And G2036 they said [G5627] G846 unto him G1722 , In G965 Bethlehem G2449 of Judaea G1063 : for G3779 thus G1125 it is written [G5769] G1223 by G4396 the prophet,

6 G2532 And G4771 thou G965 Bethlehem G1093 , in the land G2448 of Juda G1488 , art [G5748] G3760 not G1646 the least G1722 among G2232 the princes G2448 of Juda G1063 : for G1537 out of G4675 thee G1831 shall come [G5695] G2233 a Governor [G5740] G3748 , that G4165 shall rule [G5692] G3450 my G2992 people G2474 Israel.

7 G5119 Then G2264 Herod G2977 , when he had privily G2564 called [G5660] G3097 the wise men G198 , enquired G3844 of G846 them G198 diligently [G5656] G5550 what time G792 the star G5316 appeared [G5730] .

8 G2532 And G3992 he sent [G5660] G846 them G1519 to G965 Bethlehem G2036 , and said [G5627] G4198 , Go [G5679] G1833 and search [G5657] G199 diligently G4012 for G3813 the young child G1161 ; and G1875 when G2147 ye have found [G5632] G518 him, bring G3427 me G518 word again [G5657] G3704 , that G2064 I may come [G5631] G4352 and worship [G5661] G846 him G2504 also.

11 G2532 And G2064 when they were come [G5631] G1519 into G3614 the house G2147 , they saw [G5627] [G5625] G1492 [G5627] G3813 the young child G3326 with G3137 Mary G846 his G3384 mother G2532 , and G4098 fell down [G5631] G4352 , and worshipped [G5656] G846 him G2532 : and G455 when they had opened [G5660] G846 their G2344 treasures G4374 , they presented [G5656] G846 unto him G1435 gifts G5557 ; gold G2532 , and G3030 frankincense G2532 , and G4666 myrrh.

12 G2532 And G5537 being warned of God [G5685] G2596 in G3677 a dream G344 that they should G3361 not G344 return [G5658] G4314 to G2264 Herod G402 , they departed [G5656] G1519 into G846 their own G5561 country G1223 another G243 G3598 way.

13 G1161 And G846 when they G402 were departed [G5660] G2400 , behold [G5628] G32 , the angel G2962 of the Lord G5316 appeareth [G5727] G2501 to Joseph G2596 in G3677 a dream G3004 , saying [G5723] G1453 , Arise [G5685] G3880 , and take [G5628] G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother G2532 , and G5343 flee [G5720] G1519 into G125 Egypt G2532 , and G2468 be thou [G5749] G1563 there G2193 until G302 I G2036 bring G4671 thee G2036 word [G5632] G1063 : for G2264 Herod G3195 will [G5719] G2212 seek [G5721] G3813 the young child G622 to destroy [G5658] G846 him.

14 G1161 When G1453 he arose [G5685] G3880 , he took [G5627] G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother G3571 by night G2532 , and G402 departed [G5656] G1519 into G125 Egypt:

15 G2532 And G2258 was [G5713] G1563 there G2193 until G5054 the death G2264 of Herod G2443 : that G4137 it might be fulfilled [G5686] G3588 which G4483 was spoken [G5685] G5259 of G2962 the Lord G1223 by G4396 the prophet G3004 , saying [G5723] G1537 , Out of G125 Egypt G2564 have I called [G5656] G3450 my G5207 son.

16 G5119 Then G2264 Herod G1492 , when he saw [G5631] G3754 that G1702 he was mocked [G5681] G5259 of G3097 the wise men G3029 , was exceeding G2373 wroth [G5681] G2532 , and G649 sent forth [G5660] G337 , and slew [G5627] G3956 all G3816 the children G1722 that were in G965 Bethlehem G2532 , and G1722 in G3956 all G3725 the coasts G846 thereof G575 , from G1332 two years old G2532 and G2736 under G2596 , according G5550 to the time G3739 which G198 he had diligently enquired [G5656] G3844 of G3097 the wise men.

17 G5119 Then G4137 was fulfilled [G5681] G3588 that which G4483 was spoken [G5685] G5259 by G2408 Jeremy G4396 the prophet G3004 , saying [G5723] ,

19 G1161 But G2264 when Herod G5053 was dead [G5660] G2400 , behold [G5628] G32 , an angel G2962 of the Lord G5316 appeareth [G5727] G2596 in G3677 a dream G2501 to Joseph G1722 in G125 Egypt,

20 G3004 Saying [G5723] G1453 , Arise [G5685] G3880 , and take [G5628] G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother G2532 , and G4198 go [G5737] G1519 into G1093 the land G2474 of Israel G1063 : for G2348 they are dead [G5758] G3588 which G2212 sought [G5723] G3813 the young child's G5590 life.

21 G1161 And G1453 he arose [G5685] G3880 , and took [G5627] G3813 the young child G2532 and G846 his G3384 mother G2532 , and G2064 came [G5627] G1519 into G1093 the land G2474 of Israel.

22 G1161 But G191 when he heard [G5660] G3754 that G745 Archelaus G936 did reign [G5719] G1909 in G2449 Judaea G473 in the room G846 of his G3962 father G2264 Herod G5399 , he was afraid [G5675] G565 to go [G5629] G1563 thither G1161 : notwithstanding G5537 , being warned of God [G5685] G2596 in G3677 a dream G402 , he turned aside [G5656] G1519 into G3313 the parts G1056 of Galilee:

23 G2532 And G2064 he came [G5631] G2730 and dwelt [G5656] G1519 in G4172 a city G3004 called [G5746] G3478 Nazareth G3704 : that G4137 it might be fulfilled [G5686] G3588 which G4483 was spoken [G5685] G1223 by G4396 the prophets G3754 , G2564 He shall be called [G5701] G3480 a Nazarene.
