JMNT⁽ⁱ⁾ ²³ Later, after His coming into the Temple courts and grounds, the chief and ranking priests – as well as the elders (or: older men) of the people – came up to Him while [He was] in the process of teaching. They, one after another, proceeded saying, "In what kind of authority (or: In association with sort of customary law) are you continuing to do these things?" And then, "Who gave this authority (right; privilege) to you?" ²⁴ So Jesus, making a discerning response, says to them, "I, Myself, will proceed also asking you one question (thought; word), which, if you folks can (or: should; would) tell Me, then I also will continue in telling you in what kind of authority (or: in association with what sort of customary law) I am constantly doing these things: ²⁵ "The immersion (baptism; = ceremonial washing) which pertained to and was done by John – from what source or origin was it being; from out of heaven (or: from [the] Atmosphere), or from out of the midst of humans (mankind; people)?" Now they began reasoning and discussing among themselves, one after another saying, "If we should say, 'From out of heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why (Through what cause or situation) did you not trust or put faith in him?' ²⁶ "Yet if we should say, 'From out of humans,' we continue fearing about the crowd (= are afraid of how the crowd might react), for they all are in the habit of holding John as a prophet." ²⁷ And so, giving a determined reply to Jesus, they said, "We have not seen and so we do not know (or: We are not aware)." He also affirms to them, "Neither am I, Myself, laying it out or saying to you folks within what kind of authority (right; privilege; customary law) I continue to do these things.

Romanian⁽ⁱ⁾ ²³ Isus S'a dus în Templu; şi, pe cînd învăţa norodul, au venit la El preoţii cei mai de seamă şi bătrînii norodului, şi I-au zis:,,Cu ce putere faci Tu lucrurile acestea, şi cine Ţi -a dat puterea aceasta?`` ²⁴ Drept răspuns, Isus le -a zis:,,Vă voi pune şi Eu o întrebare; şi dacă-Mi veţi răspunde la ea, vă voi spune şi Eu cu ce putere fac aceste lucruri. ²⁵ Botezul lui Ioan de unde venea? Din cer, sau dela oameni?`` Dar ei vorbeau între ei şi ziceau:,,Dacă vom răspunde:,Din cer,` ne va spune:,Atunci de ce nu l-aţi crezut?` ²⁶ Şi dacă vom răspunde:,Dela oameni,` ne temem de norod, pentrucă toţi socotesc pe Ioan drept prooroc.`` ²⁷ Atunci au răspuns lui Isus:,,Nu ştim!`` Şi El, la rîndul Lui, le -a zis:,,Nici Eu nu vă voi spune cu ce putere fac aceste lucruri.

Ukrainian⁽ⁱ⁾ ²³ А коли Він прийшов у храм і навчав, поприходили первосвященики й старші народу до Нього й сказали: Якою Ти владою чиниш оце? І хто Тобі владу цю дав? ²⁴ Ісус же промовив у відповідь їм: Запитаю й Я вас одне слово. Як про нього дасте Мені відповідь, то й Я вам скажу, якою владою Я це чиню. ²⁵ Іванове хрищення звідки було: із неба, чи від людей? Вони ж міркували собі й говорили: Коли скажемо: Із неба, відкаже Він нам: Чого ж ви йому не повірили? ²⁶ А як скажемо: Від людей, боїмося народу, бо Івана вважають усі за пророка. ²⁷ І сказали Ісусові в відповідь: Ми не знаємо. Відказав їм і Він: То й Я вам не скажу, якою владою Я це чиню.

UkrainianNT⁽ⁱ⁾ ²³ А як прийшов Він у церкву, поприходили до Него, навчаючого, архиєреї та старші людські, кажучи: Якою властю робиш се? й хто дав тобі сю вдасть? ²⁴ Ісус же, озвавшись, рече їм: Поспитаю вас і я про одну річ, про котру як скажете менї, то й я скажу вам, якою властю се роблю. ²⁵ Хрещенне Иоанове звідкіля було: з неба, чи від людей? Вони ж міркували собі, говорячи: Коли скажемо: 3 неба, то скаже нам: Чом же ви не вірували йому? ²⁶ коли ж скажемо: Від людей, то боїмо ся народу; всї бо мають Йоана за пророка. ²⁷ І, озвавшись, сказали Ісусові: Не знаємо. Рече їм і Він: То й я не скажу вам, якою властю се роблю.
