Genesis 2 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished , and all the host of them.

1 H8064 Thus the heavens H776 and the earth H3615 were finished [H8792] H6635 , and all the host of them.

2 H7637 And on the seventh H3117 day H430 God H3615 ended [H8762] H4399 his work H6213 which he had made [H8804] H7673 ; and he rested [H8799] H7637 on the seventh H3117 day H4399 from all his work H6213 which he had made [H8804] .

3 H430 And God H1288 blessed [H8762] H7637 the seventh H3117 day H6942 , and sanctified [H8762] H3588 it: because H7673 that in it he had rested [H8804] H4399 from all his work H430 which God H1254 created [H8804] H6213 and made [H8800] .

4 H428 These H8435 are the generations H8064 of the heavens H776 and of the earth H1254 when they were created [H8736] H3117 , in the day H3068 that the LORD H430 God H6213 made [H8800] H776 the earth H8064 and the heavens,

5 H7880 And every plant H7704 of the field H2962 before H776 it was in the earth H6212 , and every herb H7704 of the field H2962 before H6779 it grew [H8799] H3588 : for H3068 the LORD H430 God H3808 had not H4305 caused it to rain [H8689] H776 upon the earth H369 , and there was not H120 a man H5647 to till [H8800] H127 the ground.

6 H5927 But there went up [H8799] H108 a mist H4480 from H776 the earth H8248 , and watered [H8689] H6440 the whole face H127 of the ground.

7 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H3335 formed [H8799] H120 man H6083 of the dust H4480 of H127 the ground H5301 , and breathed [H8799] H639 into his nostrils H5397 the breath H2416 of life H120 ; and man H2416 became a living H5315 soul.

8 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H5193 planted [H8799] H1588 a garden H6924 eastward H5731 in Eden H8033 ; and there H7760 he put [H8799] H120 the man H834 whom H3335 he had formed [H8804] .

9 H4480 And out H127 of the ground H6779 made H3068 the LORD H430 God H6779 to grow [H8686] H6086 every tree H2530 that is pleasant [H8737] H4758 to the sight H2896 , and good H3978 for food H6086 ; the tree H2416 of life H8432 also in the midst H1588 of the garden H6086 , and the tree H1847 of knowledge H2896 of good H7451 and evil.

10 H5104 And a river H3318 went out [H8802] H5731 of Eden H8248 to water [H8687] H1588 the garden H6504 ; and from thence it was parted [H8735] H702 , and became into four H7218 heads.

11 H8034 The name H259 of the first H6376 is Pison H1931 : that H5437 is it which compasseth [H8802] H776 the whole land H2341 of Havilah H834 , where H2091 there is gold;

12 H2091 And the gold H1931 of that H776 land H2896 is good H916 : there is bdellium H7718 and the onyx H68 stone.

13 H8034 And the name H8145 of the second H5104 river H1521 is Gihon H5437 : the same is it that compasseth [H8802] H776 the whole land H3568 of Ethiopia.

14 H8034 And the name H7992 of the third H5104 river H2313 is Hiddekel H1980 : that is it which goeth toward [H8802] H6926 the east H804 of Assyria H7243 . And the fourth H5104 river H6578 is Euphrates.

15 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H3947 took [H8799] H120 the man H3240 , and put him [H8686] H1588 into the garden H5731 of Eden H5647 to dress [H8800] H8104 it and to keep [H8800] it.

16 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H6680 commanded [H8762] H120 the man H559 , saying [H8800] H6086 , Of every tree H1588 of the garden H398 thou mayest freely [H8800] H398 eat [H8799] :

17 H6086 But of the tree H1847 of the knowledge H2896 of good H7451 and evil H398 , thou shalt not eat [H8799] H3117 of it: for in the day H398 that thou eatest [H8800] H4191 thereof thou shalt surely [H8800] H4191 die [H8799] .

18 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H559 said [H8799] H2896 , It is not good H120 that the man H1961 should be [H8800] H6213 alone; I will make [H8799] H5828 him an help meet for him.

19 H127 And out of the ground H3068 the LORD H430 God H3335 formed [H8799] H2416 every beast H7704 of the field H5775 , and every fowl H8064 of the air H935 ; and brought [H8686] H120 them unto Adam H7200 to see [H8800] H7121 what he would call [H8799] H120 them: and whatsoever Adam H7121 called [H8799] H2416 every living H5315 creature H1931 , that H8034 was the name thereof.

20 H120 And Adam H7121 gave [H8799] H8034 names H929 to all cattle H5775 , and to the fowl H8064 of the air H2416 , and to every beast H7704 of the field H120 ; but for Adam H4672 there was not found [H8804] H5828 an help meet for him.

21 H3068 And the LORD H430 God H5307 caused H8639 a deep sleep H5307 to fall [H8686] H121 upon Adam H3462 , and he slept [H8799] H3947 : and he took [H8799] H259 one H6763 of his ribs H5462 , and closed up [H8799] H1320 the flesh instead thereof;

22 H6763 And the rib H3068 , which the LORD H430 God H3947 had taken [H8804] H120 from man H1129 , made [H8799] H802 he a woman H935 , and brought [H8686] H120 her unto the man.

23 H120 And Adam H559 said [H8799] H2063 , This H6471 is now H6106 bone H6106 of my bones H1320 , and flesh H1320 of my flesh H2063 : she H7121 shall be called [H8735] H802 Woman H2063 , because she H3947 was taken [H8795] H376 out of Man.

24 H3651 Therefore H376 shall a man H5800 leave [H8799] H1 his father H517 and his mother H1692 , and shall cleave [H8804] H802 unto his wife H259 : and they shall be one H1320 flesh.

25 H8147 And they were both H6174 naked H120 , the man H802 and his wife H954 , and were not ashamed [H8709] .

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. ² And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it: because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made. ⁴ These are the generations of the heaven and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made earth and heaven. ⁵ And no plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprung up: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground; ⁶ but there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. ⁷ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. ⁸ And the LORD God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. ⁹ And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. ¹⁰ And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four heads. ¹¹ The name of the first is Pishon: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; ¹² and the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. ¹³ And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Cush. ¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth in front of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. ¹⁵ And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. ¹⁶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: ¹⁷ but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. ¹⁸ And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. ¹⁹ And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them: and whatsoever the man called every living creature, that was the name thereof. ²⁰ And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for man there was not found an help meet for him. ²¹ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof: ²² and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. ²³ And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. ²⁴ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. ²⁵ And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
