Leviticus 21 And the LORD said unto Moses , Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron , and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

2 H7607 But for his kin H7138 , that is near H517 unto him, that is, for his mother H1 , and for his father H1121 , and for his son H1323 , and for his daughter H251 , and for his brother,

3 H269 And for his sister H1330 a virgin H7138 , that is nigh H376 unto him, which hath had no husband H2930 ; for her may he be defiled [H8691] .

4 H2930 But he shall not defile [H8691] H1167 himself, being a chief man H5971 among his people H2490 , to profane [H8736] himself.

5 H7139 They shall not make [H8799] H7144 baldness H7218 upon their head H1548 , neither shall they shave off [H8762] H6285 the corner H2206 of their beard H8295 , nor make [H8799] H8296 any cuttings H1320 in their flesh.

6 H6944 They shall be holy H430 unto their God H2490 , and not profane [H8762] H8034 the name H430 of their God H801 : for the offerings H3068 of the LORD H801 made by fire H3899 , and the bread H430 of their God H7126 , they do offer [H8688] H6918 : therefore they shall be holy.

7 H3947 They shall not take [H8799] H802 a wife H2181 that is a whore [H8802] H2491 , or profane H3947 ; neither shall they take [H8799] H802 a woman H1644 put away [H8803] H376 from her husband H6918 : for he is holy H430 unto his God.

8 H6942 Thou shalt sanctify [H8765] H7126 him therefore; for he offereth [H8688] H3899 the bread H430 of thy God H6918 : he shall be holy H3068 unto thee: for I the LORD H6942 , which sanctify [H8764] H6918 you, am holy.

9 H1323 And the daughter H376 of any H3548 priest H2490 , if she profane [H8735] H2181 herself by playing the whore [H8800] H2490 , she profaneth [H8764] H1 her father H8313 : she shall be burnt [H8735] H784 with fire.

10 H1419 And he that is the high H3548 priest H251 among his brethren H7218 , upon whose head H4888 the anointing H8081 oil H3332 was poured [H8714] H4390 , and that is consecrated [H8765] H3027 H3847 to put [H8800] H899 on the garments H6544 , shall not uncover [H8799] H7218 his head H6533 , nor rend [H8799] H899 his clothes;

11 H935 Neither shall he go in [H8799] H4191 to any dead [H8801] H5315 body H2930 , nor defile [H8691] H1 himself for his father H517 , or for his mother;

12 H3318 Neither shall he go out [H8799] H4720 of the sanctuary H2490 , nor profane [H8762] H4720 the sanctuary H430 of his God H5145 ; for the crown H4888 of the anointing H8081 oil H430 of his God H3068 is upon him: I am the LORD.

13 H3947 And he shall take [H8799] H802 a wife H1331 in her virginity.

14 H490 A widow H1644 , or a divorced woman [H8803] H2491 , or profane H2181 , or an harlot [H8802] H3947 , these shall he not take [H8799] H3947 : but he shall take [H8799] H1330 a virgin H5971 of his own people H802 to wife.

15 H2490 Neither shall he profane [H8762] H2233 his seed H5971 among his people H3068 : for I the LORD H6942 do sanctify [H8764] him.

16 H3068 And the LORD H1696 spake [H8762] H4872 unto Moses H559 , saying [H8800] ,

17 H1696 Speak [H8761] H175 unto Aaron H559 , saying [H8800] H376 , Whosoever H2233 he be of thy seed H1755 in their generations H3971 that hath any blemish H7126 , let him not approach [H8799] H7126 to offer [H8687] H3899 the bread H430 of his God.

18 H376 For whatsoever man H3971 he be that hath a blemish H7126 , he shall not approach [H8799] H5787 : a blind H376 man H6455 , or a lame H2763 , or he that hath a flat nose [H8803] H8311 , or any thing superfluous [H8803] ,

19 H376 Or a man H7667 that is brokenfooted H7272 H7667 , or brokenhanded H3027 ,

20 H1384 Or crookbackt H1851 , or a dwarf H8400 , or that hath a blemish H5869 in his eye H1618 , or be scurvy H3217 , or scabbed H810 , or hath his stones H4790 broken;

21 H376 No man H3971 that hath a blemish H2233 of the seed H175 of Aaron H3548 the priest H5066 shall come nigh [H8799] H7126 to offer [H8687] H801 the offerings H3068 of the LORD H801 made by fire H3971 : he hath a blemish H5066 ; he shall not come nigh [H8799] H7126 to offer [H8687] H3899 the bread H430 of his God.

22 H398 He shall eat [H8799] H3899 the bread H430 of his God H6944 , both of the most H6944 holy H6944 , and of the holy.

23 H935 Only he shall not go in [H8799] H6532 unto the vail H5066 , nor come nigh [H8799] H4196 unto the altar H3971 , because he hath a blemish H2490 ; that he profane [H8762] H4720 not my sanctuaries H3068 : for I the LORD H6942 do sanctify [H8764] them.

24 H4872 And Moses H1696 told [H8762] H175 it unto Aaron H1121 , and to his sons H1121 , and unto all the children H3478 of Israel.

ERV⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none defile himself for the dead among his people; ² except for his kin, that is near unto him, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother; ³ and for his sister a virgin, that is near unto him, which hath had no husband, for her may he defile himself. ⁴ He shall not defile himself, [being] a chief man among his people, to profane himself. ⁵ They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh. ⁶ They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy. ⁷ They shall not take a woman that is a harlot, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God. ⁸ Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy. ⁹ And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the harlot, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire. ¹⁰ And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil is poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not let the hair of his head go loose, nor rend his clothes; ¹¹ neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother; ¹² neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD. ¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virginity. ¹⁴ A widow, or one divorced, or a profane woman, an harlot, these shall he not take: but a virgin of his own people shall he take to wife. ¹⁵ And he shall not profane his seed among his people: for I am the LORD which sanctify him. ¹⁶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, ¹⁷ Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed throughout their generations that hath a blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. ¹⁸ For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, ¹⁹ or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, ²⁰ or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or is scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; ²¹ no man of the seed of Aaron the priest, that hath a blemish, shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. ²² He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. ²³ Only he shall not go in unto the veil, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I am the LORD which sanctify them. ²⁴ So Moses spake unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.
