2 Kings 8 Now Elisha had spoken unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thy household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for Jehovah hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

1 H477 Now Elisha H1696 had spoken H802 unto the woman, H1121 whose son H2421 he had restored to life, H559 saying, H6965 Arise, H3212 and go H1004 thou and thy household, H1481 and sojourn H834 wheresoever H1481 thou canst sojourn: H3068 for Jehovah H7121 hath called H7458 for a famine; H935 and it shall also come H776 upon the land H7651 seven H8141 years.

2 H802 And the woman H6965 arose, H6213 and did H1697 according to the word H376 of the man H430 of God; H3212 and she went H1004 with her household, H1481 and sojourned H776 in the land H6430 of the Philistines H7651 seven H8141 years.

3 H7651 And it came to pass at the seven H8141 years' H7097 end, H802 that the woman H7725 returned H776 out of the land H6430 of the Philistines: H3318 and she went forth H6817 to cry H4428 unto the king H1004 for her house H7704 and for her land.

4 H4428 Now the king H1696 was talking H1522 with Gehazi H5288 the servant H376 of the man H430 of God, H559 saying, H5608 Tell H1419 me, I pray thee, all the great things H477 that Elisha H6213 hath done.

5 H5608 And it came to pass, as he was telling H4428 the king H2421 how he had restored H2421 to life H4191 him that was dead, H802 that, behold, the woman, H1121 whose son H2421 he had restored to life, H6817 cried H4428 to the king H1004 for her house H7704 and for her land. H1522 And Gehazi H559 said, H113 My lord, H4428 O king, H802 this is the woman, H1121 and this is her son, H477 whom Elisha H2421 restored to life.

6 H4428 And when the king H7592 asked H802 the woman, H5608 she told H4428 him. So the king H5414 appointed H259 unto her a certain H5631 officer, H559 saying, H7725 Restore H8393 all that was hers, and all the fruits H7704 of the field H3117 since the day H5800 that she left H776 the land, even until now.

7 H477 And Elisha H935 came H1834 to Damascus; H1130 and Benhadad H4428 the king H758 of Syria H2470 was sick; H5046 and it was told H559 him, saying, H376 The man H430 of God H935 is come H2008 hither.

8 H4428 And the king H559 said H2371 unto Hazael, H3947 Take H4503 a present H3027 in thy hand, H3212 and go, H7125 meet H376 the man H430 of God, H1875 and inquire H3068 of Jehovah H559 by him, saying, H2421 Shall I recover H2483 of this sickness?

9 H2371 So Hazael H3212 went H7125 to meet H3947 him, and took H4503 a present H3027 with him, H2898 even of every good thing H1834 of Damascus, H705 forty H1581 camels' H4853 burden, H935 and came H5975 and stood H6440 before H559 him, and said, H1121 Thy son H1130 Benhadad H4428 king H758 of Syria H7971 hath sent H559 me to thee, saying, H2421 Shall I recover H2483 of this sickness?

10 H477 And Elisha H559 said H3212 unto him, Go, H559 say H2421 unto him, Thou shalt surely H2421 recover; H3068 howbeit Jehovah H7200 hath showed H4191 me that he shall surely H4191 die.

11 H5975 And he settled H6440 his countenance H7760 stedfastly H954 upon him, until he was ashamed: H376 and the man H430 of God H1058 wept.

12 H2371 And Hazael H559 said, H1058 Why weepeth H113 my lord? H559 And he answered, H3045 Because I know H7451 the evil H6213 that thou wilt do H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel: H4013 their strongholds H7971 wilt thou set H784 on fire, H970 and their young men H2026 wilt thou slay H2719 with the sword, H7376 and wilt dash H5768 in pieces their little ones, H1234 and rip up H2030 their women with child.

13 H2371 And Hazael H559 said, H5650 But what is thy servant, H3611 who is but a dog, H6213 that he should do H1419 this great H1697 thing? H477 And Elisha H559 answered, H3068 Jehovah H7200 hath showed H4428 me that thou shalt be king H758 over Syria.

14 H3212 Then he departed H477 from Elisha, H935 and came H113 to his master; H559 who said H559 to him, What said H477 Elisha H559 to thee? And he answered, H559 He told H2421 me that thou wouldest surely H2421 recover.

15 H4283 And it came to pass on the morrow, H3947 that he took H4346 the coverlet, H2881 and dipped H4325 it in water, H6566 and spread H6440 it on his face, H4191 so that he died: H2371 and Hazael H4427 reigned in his stead.

16 H2568 And in the fifth H8141 year H3141 of Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H4428 king H3478 of Israel, H3092 Jehoshaphat H4428 being then king H3063 of Judah, H3088 Jehoram H1121 the son H3092 of Jehoshaphat H4428 king H3063 of Judah H4427 began to reign.

17 H7970 Thirty H8147 and two H8141 years H1121 old H4427 was he when he began to reign; H4427 and he reigned H8083 eight H8141 years H3389 in Jerusalem.

18 H3212 And he walked H1870 in the way H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel, H6213 as did H1004 the house H256 of Ahab: H1323 for he had the daughter H256 of Ahab H802 to wife; H6213 and he did H7451 that which was evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of Jehovah.

19 H3068 Howbeit Jehovah H14 would H7843 not destroy H3063 Judah, H1732 for David H5650 his servant's H559 sake, as he promised H5414 him to give H5216 unto him a lamp H1121 for his children H3117 alway.

20 H3117 In his days H123 Edom H6586 revolted H3027 from under the hand H3063 of Judah, H4427 and made H4428 a king over themselves.

21 H3141 Then Joram H5674 passed over H6811 to Zair, H7393 and all his chariots H6965 with him: and he rose H3915 up by night, H5221 and smote H123 the Edomites H5437 that compassed him about, H8269 and the captains H7393 of the chariots; H5971 and the people H5127 fled H168 to their tents.

22 H123 So Edom H6586 revolted H3027 from under the hand H3063 of Judah H3117 unto this day. H3841 Then did Libnah H6586 revolt H1931 at the same H6256 time.

23 H3499 And the rest H1697 of the acts H3141 of Joram, H6213 and all that he did, H3789 are they not written H5612 in the book H1697 of the chronicles H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah?

24 H3141 And Joram H7901 slept H1 with his fathers, H6912 and was buried H1 with his fathers H5892 in the city H1732 of David; H274 and Ahaziah H1121 his son H4427 reigned in his stead.

25 H6240 In the twelfth H8141 year H3141 of Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H4428 king H3478 of Israel H274 did Ahaziah H1121 the son H3088 of Jehoram H4428 king H3063 of Judah H4427 begin to reign.

26 H8147 Two H6242 and twenty H8141 years H1121 old H274 was Ahaziah H4427 when he began to reign; H4427 and he reigned H259 one H8141 year H3389 in Jerusalem. H517 And his mother's H8034 name H6271 was Athaliah H1323 the daughter H6018 of Omri H4428 king H3478 of Israel.

27 H3212 And he walked H1870 in the way H1004 of the house H256 of Ahab, H6213 and did H7451 that which was evil H5869 in the sight H3068 of Jehovah, H1004 as did the house H256 of Ahab; H2860 for he was the son-in-law H1004 of the house H256 of Ahab.

28 H3212 And he went H3141 with Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H4421 to war H2371 against Hazael H4428 king H758 of Syria H7433 at Ramoth-gilead: H761 and the Syrians H5221 wounded H3141 Joram.

29 H4428 And king H3141 Joram H7725 returned H7495 to be healed H3157 in Jezreel H4347 of the wounds H761 which the Syrians H5221 had given H7414 him at Ramah, H3898 when he fought H2371 against Hazael H4428 king H758 of Syria. H274 And Ahaziah H1121 the son H3088 of Jehoram H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3381 went down H7200 to see H3141 Joram H1121 the son H256 of Ahab H3157 in Jezreel, H2470 because he was sick.
