2 Chronicles 25 Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

2 H6213 And he did H3477 that which was right H5869 in the sight H3068 of the Lord, H8003 but not with a perfect H3824 heart.

3 H4467 Now it came to pass, when the kingdom H2388 was established H2026 to him, that he killed H5650 his servants H5221 that had killed H4428 the king H1 his father.

4 H4191 But he killed H1121 not their sons, H3789 but did as it is written H8451 in the law H5612 in the book H4872 of Moses, H3068 where the Lord H6680 commanded, H559 saying, H1 The fathers H4191 shall not die H1121 for the sons, H1121 neither shall the sons H4191 die H1 for the fathers, H376 but every man H4191 shall die H2399 for his own sin.

5 H558 Moreover Amaziah H6908 gathered H3063 Judah H6908 together, H5975 and made H8269 them captains H505 over thousands, H8269 and captains H3967 over hundreds, H1004 according to the houses H1 of their fathers, H3063 throughout all Judah H1144 and Benjamin: H6485 and he numbered H6242 them from twenty H8141 years H1121 old H4605 and above, H4672 and found H7969 them three H3967 hundred H505 thousand H977 choice H3318 men, able to go forth H6635 to war, H270 that could handle H7420 spear H6793 and shield.

6 H7936 He hired H3967 also an hundred H505 thousand H1368 mighty H2428 men of valor H3478 out of Israel H3967 for an hundred H3603 talents H3701 of silver.

7 H935 But there came H376 a man H430 of God H559 to him, saying, H4428 O king, H6635 let not the army H3478 of Israel H935 go H3068 with you; for the Lord H3478 is not with Israel, H1121 with all the sons H669 of Ephraim.

8 H935 But if you will go, H6213 do H2388 it, be strong H4421 for the battle: H430 God H3782 shall make you fall H6440 before H341 the enemy: H430 for God H3426 has H3581 power H5826 to help, H3782 and to cast down.

9 H558 And Amaziah H559 said H376 to the man H430 of God, H6213 But what shall we do H3967 for the hundred H3603 talents H5414 which I have given H1416 to the army H3478 of Israel? H376 And the man H430 of God H559 answered, H3068 The Lord H3426 is H5414 able to give H7235 you much more than this.

10 H558 Then Amaziah H914 separated H1416 the army H935 that was come H669 to him out of Ephraim, H3212 to go H4725 home H3212 again: H639 therefore their anger H3966 was greatly H2734 kindled H3063 against Judah, H7725 and they returned H4725 home H2750 in great H639 anger.

11 H558 And Amaziah H2388 strengthened H5090 himself, and led forth H5971 his people, H3212 and went H1516 to the valley H4417 of salt, H5221 and struck H1121 of the sons H8165 of Seir H6235 ten H505 thousand.

12 H6235 And other ten H505 thousand H2416 left alive H1121 did the sons H3063 of Judah H7617 carry away captive, H935 and brought H7218 them unto the top H5553 of the rock, H7993 and cast them down H7218 from the top H5553 of the rock, H1234 that they all were broken in pieces.

13 H1121 But the soldiers H1416 of the army H558 which Amaziah H7725 sent back, H3212 that they should not go H4421 with him to battle, H6584 fell H5892 upon the cities H3063 of Judah, H8111 from Samaria H1032 even unto Beth–horon, H5221 and struck H7969 three H505 thousand H962 of them, and took H7227 much H961 plunder.

14 H310 Now it came to pass, after H558 that Amaziah H935 was come H5221 from the slaughter H130 of the Edomites, H935 that he brought H430 the gods H1121 of the sons H8165 of Seir, H5975 and set them up H430 to be his gods, H7812 and bowed down H6440 himself before H6999 them, and burned incense unto them.

15 H639 Then the anger H3068 of the Lord H2734 was kindled H558 against Amaziah, H7971 and he sent H5030 unto him a prophet, H559 which said H1875 unto him, Why have you sought H430 after the gods H5971 of the people, H5337 which could not deliver H5971 their own people H3027 out of your hand?

16 H1696 And it came to pass, as he talked H559 with him, that the king said H5414 unto him, Have you been made H4428 one of the king's H3289 counselors? H2308 stop; H5221 why should you be struck? H5030 Then the prophet H2308 stopped, H559 and said, H3045 I know H430 that God H3289 has determined H7843 to destroy H6213 you, because you have done H8085 this, and have not listened H6098 unto my counsel.

17 H558 Then Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H3289 took advice, H7971 and sent H3101 to Joash, H1121 the son H3059 of Jehoahaz, H1121 the son H3058 of Jehu, H4428 king H3478 of Israel, H559 saying, H3212 Come, H7200 let us see one another H6440 in the face.

18 H3101 And Joash H4428 king H3478 of Israel H7971 sent H558 to Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H559 saying, H2336 The thistle H3844 that was in Lebanon H7971 sent H730 to the cedar H3844 that was in Lebanon, H559 saying, H5414 Give H1323 your daughter H1121 to my son H802 to wife: H5674 and there passed by H7704 a wild H2416 animal H3844 that was in Lebanon, H7429 and trod down H2336 the thistle.

19 H559 You say, H5221 Behold, you have struck H123 the Edomites; H3820 and your heart H5375 lifts you up H3513 to boast: H3427 stay H1004 now at home; H1624 why should you meddle H7451 to your hurt, H5307 that you should fall, H3063 even you, and Judah with you?

20 H558 But Amaziah H8085 would not hear; H430 for it came of God, H5414 that he might deliver H3027 them into the hand H1875 of their enemies, because they sought H430 after the gods H123 of Edom.

21 H3101 So Joash H4428 the king H3478 of Israel H5927 went up; H7200 and they saw one another H6440 in the face, H558 both he and Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H1053 at Beth–shemesh, H3063 which belongs to Judah.

22 H3063 And Judah H5062 was put to the worse H6440 before H3478 Israel, H5127 and they fled H376 every man H168 to his tent.

23 H3101 And Joash H4428 the king H3478 of Israel H8610 took H558 Amaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H1121 the son H3101 of Joash, H1121 the son H3059 of Jehoahaz, H1053 at Beth–shemesh, H935 and brought H3389 him to Jerusalem, H6555 and broke down H2346 the wall H3389 of Jerusalem H8179 from the gate H669 of Ephraim H6437 to the corner H8179 gate, H702 four H3967 hundred H520 cubits.

24 H2091 And he took all the gold H3701 and the silver, H3627 and all the vessels H4672 that were found H1004 in the house H430 of God H5654 with Obed–edom, H214 and the treasures H4428 of the king's H1004 house, H1121 the hostages H7725 also, and returned H8111 to Samaria.

25 H558 And Amaziah H1121 the son H3101 of Joash H4428 king H3063 of Judah H2421 lived H310 after H4194 the death H3101 of Joash H1121 son H3059 of Jehoahaz H4428 king H3478 of Israel H2568 fifteen H8141 years.

26 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H558 of Amaziah, H7223 first H314 and last, H3789 behold, are they not written H5612 in the book H4428 of the kings H3063 of Judah H3478 and Israel?

27 H6256 Now after the time H558 that Amaziah H5493 did turn away H310 from following H3068 the Lord H7194 they made H7195 a conspiracy H3389 against him in Jerusalem; H5127 and he fled H3923 to Lachish: H7971 but they sent H3923 to Lachish H310 after H4191 him, and killed him there.

28 H5375 And they brought H5483 him upon horses, H6912 and buried H1 him with his fathers H5892 in the city H3063 of Judah.
