  3 H3097 And Joab H559 [H8799] answered H3068 , The LORD H5971 make his people H3967 an hundred H6471 times H3254 [H8686] more H1992 than they H113 are: but, my lord H4428 the king H113 , are they not all my lord's H5650 servants H113 ? why then doth my lord H1245 [H8762] require H819 this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass H3478 to Israel?
  4 H4428 Nevertheless the king's H1697 word H2388 [H8804] prevailed H3097 against Joab H3097 . Therefore Joab H3318 [H8799] departed H1980 [H8691] , and went H3478 throughout all Israel H935 [H8799] , and came H3389 to Jerusalem.

  12 H7969 Either three H8141 years H7458 ' famine H7969 ; or three H2320 months H5595 [H8737] to be destroyed H6440 before H6862 thy foes H2719 , while the sword H341 [H8802] of thy enemies H5381 [H8688] overtaketh H518 thee; or H7969 else three H3117 days H2719 the sword H3068 of the LORD H1698 , even the pestilence H776 , in the land H4397 , and the angel H3068 of the LORD H7843 [H8688] destroying H1366 throughout all the land H3478 of Israel H7200 [H8798] . Now therefore consider H1697 thyself what word H7725 [H8686] I shall bring again H7971 [H8802] to him that sent me.
  13 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H1410 to Gad H3966 , I am in a great H6887 [H8804] strait H5307 [H8799] : let me fall H3027 now into the hand H3068 of the LORD H3966 ; for very H7227 great H7356 are his mercies H5307 [H8799] : but let me not fall H3027 into the hand H120 of man.
  14 H3068 So the LORD H5414 [H8799] sent H1698 pestilence H3478 upon Israel H5307 [H8799] : and there fell H3478 of Israel H7657 seventy H505 thousand H376 men.
  15 H430 And God H7971 [H8799] sent H4397 an angel H3389 to Jerusalem H7843 [H8687] to destroy H7843 [H8687] it: and as he was destroying H3068 , the LORD H7200 [H8804] beheld H5162 [H8735] , and he repented H7451 of the evil H559 [H8799] , and said H4397 to the angel H7843 [H8688] that destroyed H7227 , It is enough H7503 [H8685] , stay H3027 now thy hand H4397 . And the angel H3068 of the LORD H5975 [H8802] stood H1637 by the threshingfloor H771 of Ornan H2983 the Jebusite.
  16 H1732 And David H5375 [H8799] lifted up H5869 his eyes H7200 [H8799] , and saw H4397 the angel H3068 of the LORD H5975 [H8802] stand H776 between the earth H8064 and the heaven H8025 [H8803] , having a drawn H2719 sword H3027 in his hand H5186 [H8803] stretched out H3389 over Jerusalem H1732 .   17 H1732 And David H559 [H8799] said H430 to God H559 [H8804] , Is it not I that commanded H5971 the people H4487 [H8800] to be numbered H2398 [H8804] ? even I it is that have sinned H7489 [H8689] and done evil H7489 [H8687] indeed H6629 ; but as for these sheep H6213 [H8804] , what have they done H3027 ? let thy hand H3068 , I pray thee, O LORD H430 my God H1 , be on me, and on my father's H1004 house H5971 ; but not on thy people H4046 , that they should be afflicted.
  18 H4397 Then the angel H3068 of the LORD H559 [H8804] commanded H1410 Gad H559 [H8800] to say H1732 to David H1732 , that David H5927 [H8799] should go up H6965 [H8687] , and build H4196 an altar H3068 to the LORD H1637 in the threshingfloor H771 of Ornan H2983 the Jebusite.
  19 H1732 And David H5927 [H8799] went up H1697 at the saying H1410 of Gad H1696 [H8765] , which he spoke H8034 in the name H3068 of the LORD.
  20 H771 And Ornan H7725 [H8799] turned back H7200 [H8799] , and saw H4397 the angel H702 ; and his four H1121 sons H2244 [H8693] with him hid H771 themselves. Now Ornan H1758 [H8804] was threshing H2406 wheat.
  21 H1732 And as David H935 [H8799] came H771 to Ornan H771 , Ornan H5027 [H8686] looked H7200 [H8799] and saw H1732 David H3318 [H8799] , and went out H1637 of the threshingfloor H7812 [H8691] , and bowed H1732 himself to David H639 with his face H776 to the ground.
  22 H1732 Then David H559 [H8799] said H771 to Ornan H5414 [H8798] , Grant H4725 me the place H1637 of this threshingfloor H1129 [H8799] , that I may build H4196 an altar H3068 in it to the LORD H5414 [H8798] : thou shalt grant H4392 it to me for the full H3701 price H4046 : that the plague H6113 [H8735] may be restrained H5971 from the people.
  23 H771 And Ornan H559 [H8799] said H1732 to David H3947 [H8798] , Take H113 it to thee, and let my lord H4428 the king H6213 [H8799] do H2896 that which is good H5869 in his eyes H7200 [H8798] : lo H5414 [H8804] , I give H1241 thee the oxen H5930 also for burnt offerings H4173 , and the threshing instruments H6086 for wood H2406 , and the wheat H4503 for the meat offering H5414 [H8804] ; I give it all.
  24 H4428 And king H1732 David H559 [H8799] said H771 to Ornan H7069 [H8800] , Nay; but I will verily H7069 [H8799] buy H4392 it for the full H3701 price H5375 [H8799] : for I will not take H3068 that which is thine for the LORD H5927 [H8687] , nor offer H5930 burnt offerings H2600 without cost.
  25 H1732 So David H5414 [H8799] gave H771 to Ornan H4725 for the place H8337 six H3967 hundred H8255 shekels H2091 of gold H4948 by weight.
  26 H1732 And David H1129 [H8799] built H4196 there an altar H3068 to the LORD H5927 [H8686] , and offered H5930 burnt offerings H8002 and peace offerings H7121 [H8799] , and called H3068 upon the LORD H6030 [H8799] ; and he answered H8064 him from heaven H784 by fire H4196 upon the altar H5930 of burnt offering.
  27 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] commanded H4397 the angel H7725 0 ; and he put up H2719 his sword H7725 [H8686] again H5084 into its sheath.
  28 H6256 At that time H1732 when David H7200 [H8800] saw H3068 that the LORD H6030 [H8804] had answered H1637 him in the threshingfloor H771 of Ornan H2983 the Jebusite H2076 [H8799] , then he sacrificed there.
  29 H4908 For the tabernacle H3068 of the LORD H4872 , which Moses H6213 [H8804] made H4057 in the wilderness H4196 , and the altar H5930 of the burnt offering H6256 , were at that season H1116 in the high place H1391 at Gibeon.
  30 H1732 But David H3201 [H8804] could H3212 [H8800] not go H6440 before H1875 [H8800] it to enquire H430 of God H1204 [H8738] : for he was afraid H6440 because H2719 of the sword H4397 of the angel H3068 of the LORD.
