2 Kings 10 And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria . And Jehu wrote letters , and sent to Samaria , to the rulers of Jezreel , to the elders , and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,

3 H7200 [H8804] Choose H2896 the best H3477 and most fit H113 of your master's H1121 sons H7760 [H8804] , and set H1 him on his father's H3678 throne H3898 [H8734] , and fight H113 for your master's H1004 house.

4 H3966 But they were exceedingly H3372 [H8799] afraid H559 [H8799] , and said H8147 , Behold, two H4428 kings H5975 [H8804] stood H6440 not before H5975 [H8799] him: how then shall we stand?

5 H1004 And he that was over the house H5892 , and he that was over the city H2205 , the elders H539 [H8802] also, and those who brought up H7971 [H8799] the children, sent H3058 to Jehu H559 [H8800] , saying H5650 , We are thy servants H6213 [H8799] , and will do H559 [H8799] all that thou shalt bid H376 us; we will not make any H4427 [H8686] king H6213 [H8798] : do H2896 thou that which is good H5869 in thy eyes.

6 H3789 [H8799] Then he wrote H5612 a letter H8145 the second time H559 [H8800] to them, saying H8085 [H8802] , If ye are mine, and if ye will hearken H6963 to my voice H3947 [H8798] , take H7218 ye the heads H582 of the men H113 your master's H1121 sons H935 [H8798] , and come H3157 to me to Jezreel H4279 by to morrow H6256 this time H4428 . Now the king's H1121 sons H7657 , being seventy H376 persons H1419 , were with the great men H5892 of the city H1431 [H8764] , who brought them up.

7 H5612 And it came to pass, when the letter H935 [H8800] came H3947 [H8799] to them, that they took H4428 the king's H1121 sons H7819 [H8799] , and slew H7657 seventy H376 persons H7760 [H8799] , and put H7218 their heads H1731 in baskets H7971 [H8799] , and sent H3157 them to him to Jezreel.

8 H935 [H8799] And there came H4397 a messenger H5046 [H8686] , and told H559 [H8800] him, saying H935 [H8689] , They have brought H7218 the heads H4428 of the king's H1121 sons H559 [H8799] . And he said H7760 [H8798] , Lay H8147 ye them in two H6652 heaps H6607 at the entrance H8179 of the gate H1242 until the morning.

9 H1242 And it came to pass in the morning H3318 [H8799] , that he went out H5975 [H8799] , and stood H559 [H8799] , and said H5971 to all the people H6662 , Ye are righteous H7194 [H8804] : behold, I conspired H113 against my master H2026 [H8799] , and slew H5221 [H8689] him: but who slew all these?

10 H3045 [H8798] Know H645 now H5307 [H8799] that there shall fall H776 to the earth H1697 nothing of the word H3068 of the LORD H3068 , which the LORD H1696 [H8765] spoke H1004 concerning the house H256 of Ahab H3068 : for the LORD H6213 [H8804] hath done H1696 [H8765] that which he spoke H3027 by H5650 his servant H452 Elijah.

11 H3058 So Jehu H5221 [H8686] slew H7604 [H8737] all that remained H1004 of the house H256 of Ahab H3157 in Jezreel H1419 , and all his great men H3045 [H8794] , and his kinsmen H3548 , and his priests H7604 [H8689] , until he left H8300 him none remaining.

12 H6965 [H8799] And he arose H935 [H8799] and departed H3212 [H8799] , and came H8111 to Samaria H7462 [H8802] . And as he was at the shearing H1004 H1044 [H8677] house H1870 in the way,

13 H3058 Jehu H4672 [H8804] met H251 with the brethren H274 of Ahaziah H4428 king H3063 of Judah H559 [H8799] , and said H559 [H8799] , Who are ye? And they answered H251 , We are the brethren H274 of Ahaziah H3381 [H8799] ; and we go down H7965 to greet H1121 the children H4428 of the king H1121 and the children H1377 of the queen.

14 H559 [H8799] And he said H8610 [H8798] , Take H2416 them alive H8610 [H8799] . And they took H2416 them alive H7819 [H8799] , and slew H953 them at the pit H1044 of the shearing house H8147 , even two H705 and forty H376 men H7604 [H8689] ; neither left H376 he any of them.

15 H3212 [H8799] And when he had departed H4672 [H8799] from there, he came H3082 upon Jehonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab H7125 [H8800] coming to meet H1288 [H8762] him: and he greeted H559 [H8799] him, and said H3426 to him, Is H3824 thy heart H3477 right H3824 , as my heart H3824 is with thy heart H3082 ? And Jehonadab H559 [H8799] answered H3426 , It is H5414 [H8798] . If it is, give H3027 me thy hand H5414 [H8799] . And he gave H3027 him his hand H5927 [H8686] ; and he took him up H4818 to him into the chariot.

16 H559 [H8799] And he said H3212 [H8798] , Come H7200 [H8798] with me, and see H7068 my zeal H3068 for the LORD H7392 [H8686] . So they made him ride H7393 in his chariot.

17 H935 [H8799] And when he came H8111 to Samaria H5221 [H8686] , he slew H7604 [H8737] all that remained H256 to Ahab H8111 in Samaria H8045 [H8689] , till he had destroyed H1697 him, according to the saying H3068 of the LORD H1696 [H8765] , which he spoke H452 to Elijah.

18 H3058 And Jehu H6908 0 gathered H5971 all the people H6908 [H8799] together H559 [H8799] , and said H256 to them, Ahab H5647 [H8804] served H1168 Baal H4592 a little H3058 ; but Jehu H5647 [H8799] shall serve H7235 [H8687] him much.

19 H7121 [H8798] Now therefore call H5030 to me all the prophets H1168 of Baal H5647 [H8802] , all his servants H3548 , and all his priests H376 ; let none H6485 [H8735] be missing H1419 : for I have a great H2077 sacrifice H1168 to do to Baal H6485 [H8735] ; whoever shall be missing H2421 [H8799] , he shall not live H3058 . But Jehu H6213 [H8804] did H6122 it deceitfully H6 [H8687] , to the intent that he might destroy H5647 [H8802] the worshippers H1168 of Baal.

20 H3058 And Jehu H559 [H8799] said H6942 [H8761] , Proclaim H6116 a solemn assembly H1168 for Baal H7121 [H8799] . And they proclaimed it.

21 H3058 And Jehu H7971 [H8799] sent H3478 through all Israel H5647 [H8802] : and all the worshippers H1168 of Baal H935 [H8799] came H376 , so that there was not a man H7604 [H8738] left H935 [H8804] that came H935 [H8799] not. And they came H1004 into the house H1168 of Baal H1004 ; and the house H1168 of Baal H4390 [H8735] was full H6310 from one end H6310 to another.

22 H559 [H8799] And he said H4458 to him that was over the vestry H3318 [H8685] , Bring forth H3830 vestments H5647 [H8802] for all the worshippers H1168 of Baal H3318 [H8686] . And he brought them forth H4403 vestments.

23 H3058 And Jehu H935 [H8799] went H3082 , and Jehonadab H1121 the son H7394 of Rechab H1004 , into the house H1168 of Baal H559 [H8799] , and said H5647 [H8802] to the worshippers H1168 of Baal H2664 [H8761] , Search H7200 [H8798] , and see H3426 that there are H5650 here with you none of the servants H3068 of the LORD H5647 [H8802] , but the worshippers H1168 of Baal only.

24 H935 [H8799] And when they went in H6213 [H8800] to offer H2077 sacrifices H5930 and burnt offerings H3058 , Jehu H7760 [H8804] appointed H8084 eighty H376 men H2351 without H559 [H8799] , and said H376 , If any H582 of the men H935 [H8688] whom I have brought H3027 into your hands H4422 [H8735] escape H5315 , he that letteth him go, his life H5315 shall be for the life of him.

25 H3615 [H8763] And it came to pass, as soon as he had finished H6213 [H8800] offering H5930 the burnt offering H3058 , that Jehu H559 [H8799] said H7323 [H8801] to the guard H7991 and to the captains H935 [H8798] , Go in H5221 [H8685] , and slay H376 them; let none H3318 [H8799] come forth H5221 [H8686] . And they smote H6310 them with the edge H2719 of the sword H7323 [H8801] ; and the guard H7991 and the captains H7993 [H8686] cast them out H3212 [H8799] , and went H5892 to the city H1004 of the house H1168 of Baal.

26 H3318 [H8686] And they brought forth H4676 the images H1004 out of the house H1168 of Baal H8313 [H8799] , and burned them.

27 H5422 [H8799] And they broke down H4676 the image H1168 of Baal H5422 [H8799] , and broke down H1004 the house H1168 of Baal H7760 [H8799] , and made H4163 H4280 [H8675] it a place of refuse H3117 to this day.

28 H3058 Thus Jehu H8045 [H8686] destroyed H1168 Baal H3478 out of Israel.

29 H2399 Yet from the sins H3379 of Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat H3478 , who made Israel H2398 [H8689] to sin H3058 , Jehu H5493 [H8804] departed H310 not from after H2091 them, that is, the golden H5695 calves H1008 that were in Bethel H1835 , and that were in Dan.

30 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H3058 to Jehu H2895 [H8689] , Because thou hast done well H6213 [H8800] in executing H3477 that which is right H5869 in my eyes H6213 [H8804] , and hast done H1004 to the house H256 of Ahab H3824 according to all that was in my heart H1121 , thy children H7243 of the fourth H3427 [H8799] generation shall sit H3678 on the throne H3478 of Israel.

31 H3058 But Jehu H8104 [H8804] took no heed H3212 [H8800] to walk H8451 in the law H3068 of the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H3824 with all his heart H5493 [H8804] : for he departed H2403 not from the sins H3379 of Jeroboam H3478 , who made Israel H2398 [H8689] to sin.

32 H3117 In those days H3068 the LORD H2490 [H8689] began H7096 [H8763] to cut off H3478 parts of Israel H2371 : and Hazael H5221 [H8686] smote H1366 them in all the land H3478 of Israel;

33 H3383 From Jordan H4217 H8121 eastward H776 , all the land H1568 of Gilead H1425 , the Gadites H7206 , and the Reubenites H4520 , and the Manassites H6177 , from Aroer H5158 , which is by the river H769 Arnon H1568 , even Gilead H1316 and Bashan.

34 H3499 Now the rest H1697 of the acts H3058 of Jehu H6213 [H8804] , and all that he did H1369 , and all his might H3789 [H8803] , are they not written H5612 in the book H1697 H3117 of the chronicles H4428 of the kings H3478 of Israel?

35 H3058 And Jehu H7901 [H8799] slept H1 with his fathers H6912 [H8799] : and they buried H8111 him in Samaria H3059 . And Jehoahaz H1121 his son H4427 [H8799] reigned in his stead.

36 H3117 And the time H3058 that Jehu H4427 [H8804] reigned H3478 over Israel H8111 in Samaria H6242 was twenty H8083 and eight H8141 years.
