2 Kings 19 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

2 H7971 [H8799] And he sent H471 Eliakim, H1004 who was over the household, H7644 and Shebna H5608 [H8802] the scribe, H2205 and the elders H3548 of the priests, H3680 [H8693] covered H8242 with sackcloth, H3470 to Isaiah H5030 the prophet H1121 the son H531 of Amoz.

3 H559 [H8799] And they said H559 [H8804] to him, Thus saith H2396 Hezekiah, H3117 This day H3117 is a day H6869 of tightness, H8433 and of rebuke, H5007 and blasphemy: H1121 for the sons H935 [H8804] have come H4866 to the birth, H3581 and there is not strength H3205 [H8800] to bring forth.

4 H194 It may be H3068 the LORD H430 thy God H8085 [H8799] will hear H1697 all the words H7262 of Rabshakeh, H4428 whom the king H804 of Assyria H113 his master H7971 [H8804] hath sent H2778 [H8763] to reproach H2416 the living H430 God; H3198 [H8689] and will reprove H1697 the words H3068 which the LORD H430 thy God H8085 [H8804] hath heard: H5375 [H8804] therefore lift up H8605 thy prayer H7611 for the remnant H4672 [H8737] that are left.

5 H5650 So the servants H4428 of king H2396 Hezekiah H935 [H8799] came H3470 to Isaiah.

6 H3470 And Isaiah H559 [H8799] said H559 [H8799] to them, Thus shall ye say H113 to your master, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD, H3372 [H8799] Be not afraid H6440 of H1697 the words H8085 [H8804] which thou hast heard, H5288 with which the servants H4428 of the king H804 of Assyria H1442 [H8765] have reviled me.

7 H5414 [H8802] Behold, I will send H7307 a spirit H8085 [H8804] upon him, and he shall hear H8052 a rumour, H7725 [H8804] and shall return H776 to his own land; H5307 [H8689] and I will cause him to fall H2719 by the sword H776 in his own land.

8 H7262 So Rabshakeh H7725 [H8799] returned, H4672 [H8799] and found H4428 the king H804 of Assyria H3898 [H8737] warring H3841 against Libnah: H8085 [H8804] for he had heard H5265 [H8804] that he had departed H3923 from Lachish.

9 H8085 [H8799] And when he heard H559 [H8800] it said H8640 of Tirhakah H4428 king H3568 of Cush, H3318 [H8804] Behold, he hath come out H3898 [H8736] to fight H7971 [H8799] against thee: he sent H4397 messengers H7725 [H8799] again H2396 to Hezekiah, H559 [H8800] saying,

10 H559 [H8799] Thus shall ye speak H2396 to Hezekiah H4428 king H3063 of Judah, H559 [H8800] saying, H430 Let not thy God H982 [H8802] in whom thou trustest H5377 [H8686] deceive H559 [H8800] thee, saying, H3389 Jerusalem H5414 [H8735] shall not be given H3027 into the hand H4428 of the king H804 of Assyria.

11 H8085 [H8804] Behold, thou hast heard H4428 what the kings H804 of Assyria H6213 [H8804] have done H776 to all lands, H2763 [H8687] by secluding them utterly: H5337 [H8735] and shalt thou be delivered?

12 H430 Have the gods H1471 of the nations H5337 [H8689] delivered H1 them which my fathers H7843 [H8765] have decayed; H1470 as Gozan, H2771 and Haran, H7530 and Rezeph, H1121 and the sons H5729 of Eden H8515 who were in Thelasar?

13 H4428 Where is the king H2574 of Hamath, H4428 and the king H774 of Arpad, H4428 and the king H5892 of the city H5617 of Sepharvaim, H2012 of Hena, H5755 and Ivah?

14 H2396 And Hezekiah H3947 [H8799] received H5612 the letter H3027 from the hand H4397 of the messengers, H7121 [H8799] and read H2396 it: and Hezekiah H5927 [H8799] went up H1004 into the house H3068 of the LORD, H6566 [H8799] and spread H6440 it at the face of H3068 the LORD.

15 H2396 And Hezekiah H6419 [H8691] prayed H6440 at the face of H3068 the LORD, H559 [H8799] and said, H3068 O LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel, H3427 [H8802] who dwellest H3742 between the cherubim, H430 thou art the God, H4467 even thou alone, of all the kingdoms H776 of the earth; H6213 [H8804] thou hast made H8064 heaven H776 and earth.

16 H3068 LORD, H5186 [H8685] bow down H241 thine ear, H8085 [H8798] and hear: H6491 [H8798] open, H3068 LORD, H5869 thine eyes, H7200 [H8798] and see: H8085 [H8798] and hear H1697 the words H5576 of Sennacherib, H7971 [H8804] who hath sent H2778 [H8763] him to reproach H2416 the living H430 God.

17 H551 Of a truth, H3068 LORD, H4428 the kings H804 of Assyria H2717 [H8689] have parched H1471 the nations H776 and their lands,

18 H5414 [H8804] And have cast H430 their gods H784 into the fire: H430 for they were no gods, H4639 but the work H120 of men's H3027 hands, H6086 wood H68 and stone: H6 [H8762] therefore they have destroyed them.

19 H3068 Now therefore, O LORD H430 our God, H3467 [H8685] I beseech thee, liberate H3027 thou us from his hand, H4467 that all the kingdoms H776 of the earth H3045 [H8799] may know H3068 that thou art the LORD H430 God, even thou only.

20 H3470 Then Isaiah H1121 the son H531 of Amoz H7971 [H8799] sent H2396 to Hezekiah, H559 [H8800] saying, H559 [H8804] Thus saith H3068 the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel, H6419 [H8694] That which thou hast prayed H5576 to me against Sennacherib H4428 king H804 of Assyria H8085 [H8804] I have heard.

21 H1697 This is the word H3068 that the LORD H1696 [H8765] hath spoken H1330 concerning him; The virgin H1323 the daughter H6726 of Zion H959 [H8804] hath despised H3932 [H8804] thee, and mocked thee; H1323 the daughter H3389 of Jerusalem H5128 [H8689] hath shaken H7218 her head H310 at thee.

22 H2778 [H8765] Whom hast thou reproached H1442 [H8765] and reviled? H7311 [H8689] and against whom hast thou exalted H6963 thy voice, H5375 [H8799] and lifted up H5869 thine eyes H4791 on high? H6918 even against the Holy H3478 One of Israel.

23 H3027 By H4397 thy messengers H2778 [H8765] thou hast reproached H136 the Lord, H559 [H8799] and hast said, H7230 With the abundance H7393 H7393 [H8675] of my chariots H5927 [H8804] I am come up H4791 to the height H2022 of the mountains, H3411 to the sides H3844 of Lebanon, H3772 [H8799] and will cut down H6967 its tall H730 cedar trees, H4004 and its choice H1265 fir trees: H935 [H8799] and I will enter H4411 into the lodgings H7093 of his borders, H3293 and into the forest H3760 of his Carmel.

24 H6979 [H8804] I have dug H8354 [H8804] and drank H2114 [H8801] strange H4325 waters, H3709 and with the sole H6471 of my feet H2717 [H8686] have I dried H2975 up all the rivers H4693 of besieged places.

25 H8085 [H8804] Hast thou not heard H7350 long ago H6213 [H8804] how I have done H6924 it, and of ancient H3117 times H3335 [H8804] that I have formed H935 [H8689] it? now have I brought H7582 [H8687] it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste H1219 [H8803] fortified H5892 cities H5327 [H8737] in ruinous H1530 heaps.

26 H3427 [H8802] Therefore their inhabitants H7116 were of small H3027 hand, H2865 [H8804] they were dismayed H954 [H8799] and pale; H6212 they were as the grass H7704 of the field, H3419 and as the green H1877 herb, H2682 as the grass H1406 on the housetops, H7711 and as grain blighted H6440 at the face of H7054 it is grown up.

27 H3045 [H8804] But I know H3427 [H8800] thy abode, H3318 [H8800] and thy going out, H935 [H8800] and thy coming in, H7264 [H8692] and thy rage against me.

28 H7264 [H8692] Because thy rage H7600 against me and thy tumult H5927 [H8804] is come up H241 into my ears, H7760 [H8804] therefore I will put H2397 my hook H639 in thy nose, H4964 and my bridle H8193 in thy lips, H7725 [H8689] and I will turn thee back H1870 by the way H935 [H8804] by which thou camest.

29 H226 And this shall be a sign H398 [H8800] to thee, Ye shall eat H8141 this year H5599 such things as grow H8145 of themselves, and in the second H8141 year H7823 that which springeth H7992 of the same; and in the third H8141 year H2232 [H8798] sow H7114 [H8798] ye, and reap, H5193 [H8798] and plant H3754 vineyards, H398 [H8798] and eat H6529 the fruits of it.

30 H7604 [H8737] And the remnant H6413 that hath escaped H1004 of the house H3063 of Judah H3254 [H8804] shall yet again H8328 take root H4295 downward, H6213 [H8804] and bear H6529 fruit H4605 upward.

31 H3389 For out of Jerusalem H3318 [H8799] shall go forth H7611 a remnant, H6413 and they that escape H2022 from mount H6726 Zion: H7068 the zeal H3068 of the LORD [H8675] of hosts H6213 [H8799] shall do this.

32 H559 [H8804] Therefore thus saith H3068 the LORD H4428 concerning the king H804 of Assyria, H935 [H8799] He shall not come H5892 into this city, H3384 [H8686] nor shoot H2671 an arrow H6923 [H8762] there, nor come before H4043 it with shield, H8210 [H8799] nor cast H5550 a bank against it.

33 H1870 By the way H935 [H8799] that he came, H7725 [H8799] by the same shall he return, H935 [H8799] and shall not come H5892 into this city, H5002 [H8803] saith H3068 the LORD.

34 H1598 [H8804] For I will defend H5892 this city, H3467 [H8687] to liberate H5650 it, for my own sake, and for my servant H1732 David's sake.

35 H3915 And it came to pass that night, H4397 that the messenger H3068 of the LORD H3318 [H8799] went out, H5221 [H8686] and smote H4264 in the camp H804 of the Assyrians H3967 an hundred H8084 and eighty H2568 and five H505 thousand: H7925 [H8686] and when they arose early H1242 in the morning, H4191 [H8801] behold, they were all dead H6297 carcases.

36 H5576 So Sennacherib H4428 king H804 of Assyria H5265 [H8799] departed, H3212 [H8799] and went H7725 [H8799] and returned, H3427 [H8799] and dwelt H5210 at Nineveh.

37 H7812 [H8693] And it came to pass, as he was worshipping H1004 in the house H5268 of Nisroch H430 his god, H152 that Adrammelech H8272 and Sharezer H1121 his sons H5221 [H8689] smote H2719 him with the sword: H4422 [H8738] and they escaped H776 into the land H780 of Armenia. H634 And Esarhaddon H1121 his son H4427 [H8799] reigned in his stead.
