  7 H3068 And now, O LORD H430 my God, H5650 thou hast made thy servant H4427 [H8689] king H1732 instead of David H1 my father: H6996 and I am but a little H5288 child: H3045 [H8799] I know H3318 [H8800] not how to go out H935 [H8800] or come in.
  8 H5650 And thy servant H8432 is in the midst H5971 of thy people H977 [H8804] which thou hast chosen, H7227 a great H5971 people, H4487 [H8735] that cannot be numbered H5608 [H8735] nor counted H7230 for abundance.
  9 H5414 [H8804] Give H5650 therefore to thy servant H8085 [H8802] an understanding H3820 heart H8199 [H8800] to judge H5971 thy people, H995 [H8687] that I may discern H2896 between good H7451 and bad: H3201 [H8799] for who is able H8199 [H8800] to judge H3515 this thy so great H5971 a people?
  10 H1697 And the speech H3190 H5869 [H8799] pleased H136 the Sovereign, H8010 that Solomon H7592 [H8804] had asked H1697 this thing.
  11 H430 And God H559 [H8799] said H7592 [H8804] to him, Because thou hast asked H1697 this thing, H7592 [H8804] and hast not asked H7227 for thyself long H3117 life; H7592 [H8804] neither hast asked H6239 riches H7592 [H8804] for thyself, nor hast asked H5315 the life H341 [H8802] of thy enemies; H7592 [H8804] but hast asked H995 [H8687] for thyself understanding H8085 [H8800] to discern H4941 judgment;
  12 H6213 [H8804] Behold, I have done H1697 according to thy words: H5414 [H8804] lo, I have given H2450 thee a wise H995 [H8737] and an understanding H3820 heart; H6440 so that there hath been none like thee at the face of H310 thee, neither after H6965 [H8799] thee shall any arise like thee.
  13 H5414 [H8804] And I have also given H7592 [H8804] thee that which thou hast not asked, H6239 both riches, H3519 and glory: H376 so that there shall not be any H4428 among the kings H3117 like thee all thy days.

Like as he walked before the in faithfulnes and righteousnes, and in a true hert with the, & this greate mercy hast thou layed vp for him, and geuen him a sonne to syt vpon his seate, as it is now come to passe. 7 Now LORDE my God, thou hast made thy seruaunt kynge in my father Dauids steade: As for me, I am but a small yonge man, knowynge nether my outgoynge ner ingoynge. 8 And thy seruaunt is amonge the people whom thou hast chosen: which is so greate, that no man can nombre them ner descrybe them for multitude. 9 Geue thy seruaunt therfore an obedient hert, that he maye iudge thy people, & vnderstonde what is good & bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people? 10 This pleased the LORDE well, that Salomon axed soch a peticion. 11 And God sayde vnto him: For so moch as thou axest this, and desyrest not longe lyfe, nether riches, nether ye soules of thine enemies, but vnderstodinge to heare iudgment, 12 beholde, therfore haue I done acordynge to thy wordes. Thomson(i) 5 the Lord appeared to him that night in a dream, and said to him, Ask for thyself any favour. 6 Thereupon Solomon said, Thou hast shewn great kindness to thy servant David my father. As he walked before thee in truth and righteousness and in uprightness of heart with thee, thou therefore hast kept for him this great kindness to set his son on his throne as at this day. 7 Now therefore, Lord my God, as thou hast appointed me thy servant in the room of my father David, and I am but a little child and know not how to go out and come in, 8 and thy servant is in the midst of thy people whom thou hast chosen, an immense people which cannot be numbered, 9 give therefore to thy servant a heart to hear and to judge thy people righteously, and to discern between good and evil; for who can judge this thy people, 10 this great people which is so numerous? And it was well pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon made this request; 11 therefore the Lord said to him, Because thou hast asked this of me, and hast not asked for thyself many days, nor riches, nor the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment, 12 behold I have granted thy request; behold I have given thee a wise and understanding heart, so that before thee there hath not been one like thee, nor after thee shall there arise one like thee. 13 Moreover I have given thee what thou didst not ask, riches and glory; so that there hath not been among kings a man like thee.

  6 H8010 And Solomon H559 [H8799] said H6213 [H8804] , Thou hast shown H5650 to thy servant H1732 David H1 my father H1419 great H2617 mercy H1980 [H8804] , according as he walked H6440 before H571 thee in truth H6666 , and in righteousness H3483 , and in uprightness H3824 of heart H8104 [H8799] with thee; and thou hast kept H1419 for him this great H2617 kindness H5414 [H8799] , that thou hast given H1121 him a son H3427 [H8802] to sit H3678 on his throne H3117 , as it is this day.
  7 H3068 And now, O LORD H430 my God H5650 , thou hast made thy servant H4427 [H8689] king H1732 instead of David H1 my father H6996 : and I am but a little H5288 child H3045 [H8799] : I know H3318 [H8800] not how to go out H935 [H8800] or come in.
  8 H5650 And thy servant H8432 is in the midst H5971 of thy people H977 [H8804] which thou hast chosen H7227 , a great H5971 people H4487 [H8735] , that cannot be numbered H5608 [H8735] nor counted H7230 for multitude.
  9 H5414 [H8804] Give H5650 therefore to thy servant H8085 [H8802] an understanding H3820 heart H8199 [H8800] to judge H5971 thy people H995 [H8687] , that I may discern H2896 between good H7451 and bad H3201 [H8799] : for who is able H8199 [H8800] to judge H3515 this thy so great H5971 a people?
  10 H1697 And the speech H3190 H5869 [H8799] pleased H136 the Lord H8010 , that Solomon H7592 [H8804] had asked H1697 this thing.
  11 H430 And God H559 [H8799] said H7592 [H8804] to him, Because thou hast asked H1697 this thing H7592 [H8804] , and hast not asked H7227 for thyself long H3117 life H7592 [H8804] ; neither hast asked H6239 riches H7592 [H8804] for thyself, nor hast asked H5315 the life H341 [H8802] of thy enemies H7592 [H8804] ; but hast asked H995 [H8687] for thyself understanding H8085 [H8800] to discern H4941 judgment;
  12 H6213 [H8804] Behold, I have done H1697 according to thy words H5414 [H8804] : lo, I have given H2450 thee a wise H995 [H8737] and an understanding H3820 heart H6440 ; so that there hath been none like thee before H310 thee, neither after H6965 [H8799] thee shall any arise like thee.
  13 H5414 [H8804] And I have also given H7592 [H8804] thee that which thou hast not asked H6239 , both riches H3519 , and honour H376 : so that there shall not be any H4428 among the kings H3117 like thee all thy days.
Brenton(i) 5 And the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and the Lord said to Solomon, Ask some petition for thyself. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast dealt very mercifully with thy servant David my father according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee, and thou hast kept for him this great mercy, to set his son upon his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast appointed thy servant in the room of David my father; and I am a little child, and know not my going out an my coming in. 8 But thy servant is in the midst of thy people, whom thou hast chosen, a great people, which cannot be numbered. 9 Thou shalt give therefore to thy servant a heart to hear and to judge thy people justly, and to discern between good and evil: for who will be able to judge this thy great people? 10 And it was pleasing before the Lord, that Solomon asked this thing. 11 And the Lord said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing of me, and hast not asked for thyself long life, and hast not asked wealth, nor hast asked the lives of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself understanding to hear judgement; 12 behold, I have done according to thy word: behold, I have given thee an understanding and wise heart: there has not been any one like thee before thee, and after thee there shall not arise one like thee. 13 And I have given thee what thou hast not asked, wealth and glory, so that there has not been any one like thee among kings.

Leeser(i) 5 In Gib’on the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream of the night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shown unto thy servant David my father great kindness, just as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, and thou hast given him a son who sitteth on his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king in the place of David my father: and I am but a young lad; I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot he numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, to discern between good and bad; for who would otherwise be able to judge this thy great people? 10 And the speech was pleasing in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; and hast not asked for thyself riches, nor hast asked the life of thy enemies; but hast asked for thyself discernment to understand how to give judgment: 12 Behold, I have done according to thy word; lo, I have given thee a wise and a discerning heart; so that like unto thee there was none before thee, nor after thee shall any one arise like unto thee. 13 And also what thou hast not asked have I given thee, both riches and honor: so that like unto thee there shall not have been any one among the kings all thy days.
YLT(i) 5 In Gibeon hath Jehovah appeared unto Solomon, in a dream of the night, and God saith, `Ask—what do I give to thee?' 6 And Solomon saith, `Thou hast done with Thy servant David my father great kindness, as he walked before Thee in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with Thee, and Thou dost keep for him this great kindness, and dost give to him a son sitting on his throne, as at this day. 7 And now, O Jehovah my God, Thou hast caused thy servant to reign instead of David my father; and I am a little child, I do not know to go out and to come in; 8 and Thy servant is in the midst of thy people, whom Thou hast chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude, 9 and Thou hast given to Thy servant an understanding heart, to judge Thy people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?' 10 And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon hath asked this thing, 11 and God saith unto him, `Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment, 12 lo, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given to thee a heart, wise and understanding, that like thee there hath not been before thee, and after thee there doth not arise like thee; 13 and also, that which thou hast not asked I have given to thee, both riches and honour, that there hath not been like thee a man among the kings all thy days;
JuliaSmith(i) 5 In the hill Jehovah was seen to Solomon in a dream at night: and God will say, Ask what I shall give to thee. 6 And Solomon will say, Thou didst with thy servant David, my father, great mercy, according as he went before thee in the truth and in justice and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou wilt watch for him this great mercy, and thou wilt give to him a son sitting upon his throne as this day. 7 And now, Jehovah my God, thou madest thy servant king instead of David my father and I a little boy, shall not know to go out and come in. 8 And thy servant in the midst of thy people which thou didst choose, many people which shall not be numbered and counted for multitude. 9 And give to thy servant a heart to hear to judge thy people to discern between good to evil: for who shall be able to judge this thy weighty people? 10 And the word will be good in the eyes of God that Solomon asked this word. 11 And God will say to him, Because thou didst ask this word, and didst not ask for thyself many days; and didst not ask for thyself riches, and didst not ask the soul of thine enemies: and didst ask for thyself to have understanding to hear judgment; 12 Behold, I did according to thy word, I gave to thee a wise and understanding heart; that there was not as thou before thee, and after thee there shall not arise like thee. 13 And also that thou askedst not I gave to thee, also riches, also honor, that there was not a man like thee among kings all thy days.
Darby(i) 5 In Gibeon Jehovah appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewn unto thy servant David my father great loving-kindness, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great loving-kindness, that thou hast given him a son who sits upon his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, Jehovah my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father; and I am but a little child: I know not to go out and to come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore to thy servant an understanding heart, to judge thy people, to discern between good and bad; for who is able to judge this thy numerous people? 10 And the word pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life, neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself discernment to understand judgment; 12 behold, I have done according to thy word: behold, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart, so that there hath been none like unto thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches and glory; so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

Rotherham(i) 5 In Gibeon, Yahweh appeared unto Solomon, in a dream by night,––and God said, Ask, what I shall give thee. 6 Then said Solomon––Thou, didst deal, with thy servant David my father, in great lovingkindness, according as he walked before thee, in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart, with thee,––and thou hast kept, for him, this great lovingkindness, that thou hast given unto him a son, to sit upon his throne, as it is this day. 7 Now, therefore, O Yahweh my God, thou, hast made thy servant king, instead of David my father,––and, I, am but a little child, I know not how to go out and come in. 8 And, thy servant, is in the midst of thy people, whom thou hast chosen,––a numerous people, that cannot be numbered or summed up, for multitude. 9 Wilt thou, then, give unto thy servant, a heart that hearkeneth, to judge thy people, to discern between good and bad,––for who is able to judge this thine honoured people? 10 And the thing was good in the eyes of the Lord,––that Solomon had asked this thing; 11 And God said unto him––Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself many days, nor asked for thyself riches, nor asked the lives of thine enemies,––but hast asked for thyself discernment, in hearing a cause, 12 lo! I have done according to thy word,––lo! I have given unto thee a wise and discerning heart, so that, like thee, hath been none, before thee, and, after thee, shall rise up none, like thee. 13 Moreover also, what thou hast not asked, have I given unto thee, both riches and honour,––so that there hath been none, like thee, among the kings, all thy days.
CLV(i) 5 In Gibeon has Yahweh appeared unto Solomon, in a dream of the night, and Elohim said, `Ask--what do I give to you?. 6 And Solomon said, `You have done with Your servant David my father great kindness, as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You, and You do keep for him this great kindness, and do give to him a son sitting on his throne, as [at] this day. 7 And now, O Yahweh my Elohim, You have caused your servant to reign instead of David my father; and I [am] a little child, I do not know to go out and to come in;" 8 and Your servant [is] in the midst of your people, whom You have chosen, a people numerous, that is not numbered nor counted for multitude, 9 and You have given to Your servant an understanding heart, to judge Your people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Your great people?. 10 And the thing is good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon has asked this thing, 11 and Elohim said unto him, `Because that you have asked this thing, and have not asked for you many days, nor asked for you riches, nor asked the life of your enemies, and have asked for you discernment to understand judgment, 12 lo, I have done according to your words; lo, I have given to you a heart, wise and understanding, that like you there has not been before you, and after you there does not arise like you;" 13 and also, that which you have not asked I have given to you, both riches and honor, that there has not been like you a man among the kings all your days;"
BBE(i) 5 In Gibeon, Solomon had a vision of the Lord in a dream by night; and God said to him, Say what I am to give you. 6 And Solomon said, Great was your mercy to David my father, as his life before you was true and upright and his heart was true to you; and you have kept for him this greatest mercy, a son to take his place this day. 7 And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in the place of David my father; and I am only a young boy, with no knowledge of how to go out or come in. 8 And your servant has round him the people of your selection, a people so great that they may not be numbered, and no account of them may be given. 9 Give your servant, then, a wise heart for judging your people, able to see what is good and what evil; for who is able to be the judge of this great people? 10 Now these words and Solomon's request were pleasing to the Lord. 11 And God said to him, Because your request is for this thing, and not for long life for yourself or for wealth or for the destruction of your haters, but for wisdom to be a judge of causes; 12 I have done as you said: I have given you a wise and far-seeing heart, so that there has never been your equal in the past, and never will there be any like you in the future. 13 And with this I have given you what you made no request for: wealth and honour, so that no king was ever your equal.
MKJV(i) 5 In Gibeon Jehovah appeared to Solomon in a dream by night. For who is able to judge this, Your great people? 10 And the word was good in the eyes of Jehovah, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to judge justly, 12 behold, I have done according to your words. Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and after you none shall arise like you. 13 And I also have given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you all your days.
LITV(i) 5 Jehovah appeared to Solomon in Gibeon in a dream of the night. And God said, Ask. And I am but a little child; I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou have chosen, a great people that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give thy servant therefore an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to judge this thy great people? 10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, Because thou have asked this thing, and have not asked for thyself long life, neither have asked riches for thyself, nor have asked the life of thine enemies, but have asked for thyself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to thy word. Lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart, so that there has been none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like thee all thy days.

LXX2012(i) 5 And the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and the Lord said to Solomon, Ask some petition for yourself. 6 And Solomon said, You have dealt very mercifully with your servant David my father according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you, and you have kept for him this great mercy, to set his son upon his throne, as [it is] this day. 7 And now, O Lord my God, you have appointed your servant in the room of David my father; and I am a little child, and know not my going out an my coming in. 8 But your servant [is] in the midst of your people, whom you have chosen, a great people, which as this day can’t be numbered. 9 You shall give therefore to your servant a heart to hear and to judge your people justly, and to discern between good and evil: for who will be able to judge this your great people? 10 And it was pleasing before the Lord, that Solomon asked this thing. 11 And the Lord said to him, Because you have asked this thing of me, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked wealth, nor have asked the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear judgment; 12 behold, I have done according to your word: behold, I have given you an understanding and wise heart: there has not been [any one] like you before you, and after you there shall not arise one like you. 13 And I have given you what you have not asked, wealth and glory, so that there has not been any one like you among kings.
NSB(i) 5 That night Jehovah appeared to him in a dream and asked him: »What do you want me to give you?« 6 Solomon answered: »You always showed great love for my father David, your servant. He was good, loyal, and honest in his relation with you. You have continued to show him your great and constant love by giving him a son who today rules in his place. 7 »O Jehovah God, you allowed me to succeed my father as king, even though I am very young and do not know how to rule. 8 »I am among the people you have chosen to be your own. They are a people who are so many that they cannot be counted. 9 ‘Give me the wisdom I need to rule your people with justice. Help me know the difference between good and evil. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours?« 10 Jehovah was pleased that Solomon asked for this. 11 He said to him: »Because you have asked for the wisdom to rule justly, instead of long life for yourself or riches or the death of your enemies, 12 »I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you. 13 »I will also give you what you did not ask for. All your life you will have wealth and honor, more than that of any other king.
ISV(i) 5 The LORD appeared to Solomon one night in a dream and told him, “Ask me for whatever you want and I’ll give it to you.”
6 So Solomon said: “You have demonstrated abundant gracious love to your servant David, my father, as he lived in your presence truthfully, righteously, and uprightly in his heart. In addition, you have kept on showing this abundant gracious love by giving him a son to sit on his throne today. 7 Now, LORD my God, you have set me as king to replace my father David, but I’m still young. I don’t have any leadership skills. 8 Your servant lives in the midst of your people that you have chosen, a great people that is too numerous to be counted. 9 So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how will I be able to govern this great people of yours?”
10 The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this, 11 so God told him: “Because you asked for this, and you didn’t ask for a long life for yourself, and you didn’t ask for the lives of your enemies, but instead you’ve asked for discernment so you can understand how to govern, 12 look how I’m going to do precisely what you asked. I’m giving you a wise and discerning mind, so that there will have been no one like you before you and no one will arise after you like you. 13 I’m also giving you what you haven’t requested: both riches and honor, so that no other king will be comparable to you during your lifetime.
LEB(i) 5 Yahweh appeared to Solomon at Gibeon in a dream at night, and God said, "Ask what I should give to you." 6 Then Solomon said, "You have shown great loyal love with your servant David my father, as he walked before you in faithfulness and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with you. You have shown for him this great loyal love, and you have given a son to him who is sitting on his throne as it is this day. 7 So then, O Yahweh, you are my God. You have made your servant king in place of David my father though I am a young boy. I do not know going out or coming in. 8 Your servant is in the middle of your people whom you have chosen; a great people who cannot be counted or numbered because of abundance. 9 Give to your servant a listening heart to judge your people, to discern between good and bad, because who is able to judge this, your difficult people?" 10 The word was good in the eyes of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing and you did not ask for yourself a long life* and you did not ask riches for yourself and you did not ask for the life of your enemies, but you have asked for yourself the ability to make wise judgments;* 12 behold, I do hereby do according to your word. I hereby give you a wise and discerning heart; there was no one like you before you, nor afterwards will one like you arise. 13 Too, what you have not asked I give to you: both riches and honor, so that no man among the kings will be like you all of your days.
BSB(i) 5 One night at Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “Ask, and I will give it to you!” 6 Solomon replied, “You have shown much loving devotion to Your servant, my father David, because he walked before You in faithfulness, righteousness, and uprightness of heart. And You have maintained this loving devotion by giving him a son to sit on his throne this very day. 7 And now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king in my father David’s place. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has never been nor will ever be another like you. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you did not request—both riches and honor—so that during all your days no man in any kingdom will be your equal.

MLV(i) 5 In Gibeon Jehovah appeared to Solomon in a dream by night and God said, Ask what I will give you.
6 And Solomon said, You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, just-as he walked before you in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with you. And you have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne as it is this day. 7 And now, O Jehovah my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. And I am but a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 And your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to judge this your great people?
10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart, so that there has been none like you before you, neither after you will any arise like you.
13 And I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days.
VIN(i) 5 The LORD appeared to Solomon one night in a dream and told him, "Ask me for whatever you want and I'll give it to you." 6 And Solomon said, You have shown great kindness to Your servant, my father David, as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with You. And You have kept for him this great kindness, and have given to him a son sitting on his throne, as today. 7 Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 Your servant is among your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can't be numbered or counted for multitude. 9 So give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so I can discern between good and evil. Otherwise, how shall I be able to govern this great people of yours?" 10 The LORD was pleased that Solomon had asked for this, 11 And God said to him, Because your request is for this thing, and not for long life for yourself or for wealth or for the destruction of your haters, but for wisdom to be a judge of causes; 12 "I will do what you have asked. I will give you more wisdom and understanding than anyone has ever had. There has never been nor will ever be anyone like you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days.

RST(i) 5 В Гаваоне явился Господь Соломону во сне ночью, и сказал Бог: проси, что дать тебе. 6 И сказал Соломон: Ты сделал рабу Твоему Давиду, отцу моему, великую милость; и за то, что он ходил пред Тобою в истине и правде и с искренним сердцем пред Тобою, Ты сохранил ему эту великую милость и даровал ему сына, который сидел бы на престоле его, как это и есть ныне; 7 и ныне, Господи Боже мой, Ты поставил раба Твоего царем вместо Давида, отца моего; но я отрок малый, не знаю ни моего выхода, ни входа; 8 и раб Твой – среди народа Твоего, который избрал Ты, народа столь многочисленного, чтопо множеству его нельзя ни исчислить его, ни обозреть; 9 даруй же рабу Твоему сердце разумное, чтобы судить народ Твой и различать, что добро и что зло; ибо кто может управлять этим многочисленным народом Твоим? 10 И благоугодно было Господу, что Соломон просил этого. 11 И сказал ему Бог: за то, что ты просил этого и не просил себе долгой жизни, не просил себе богатства, не просил себе душ врагов твоих, нопросил себе разума, чтоб уметь судить, – 12 вот, Я сделаю по слову твоему: вот, Я даю тебе сердце мудрое и разумное, так что подобного тебе не было прежде тебя, и после тебя не восстанет подобный тебе; 13 и то, чего ты не просил, Я даю тебе, и богатство и славу, так что не будет подобного тебе между царями во все дни твои;

11 Zato mu Jahve reče: "Jer si to tražio, a nisi iskao ni duga života, ni bogatstva, ni smrti svojih neprijatelja, nego pronicavost u prosuđivanju pravice, 12 evo ću učiniti po riječima tvojim: dajem ti srce mudro i razumno, kakvo nije imao nitko prije tebe niti će ga imati itko poslije tebe, 13 ali ti dajem i što nisi tražio: bogatstvo i slavu kakve nema nitko među kraljevima.
BKR(i) 5 Ukázal se pak Hospodin v Gabaon Šalomounovi ve snách noci té, a řekl Bůh: Žádej začkoli, a dám tobě. 6 I řekl Šalomoun: Ty jsi učinil s služebníkem svým Davidem, otcem mým, milosrdenství veliké, když chodil před tebou v pravdě a v spravedlnosti, a v upřímnosti srdce stál při tobě.

Finnish(i) 5 Ja Herra ilmaantui Salomolle Gibeonissa yöllä unessa; ja Jumala sanoi: anos, mitä minä annan sinulle!
