G1161 Then G67 Agrippa G5346 said [G5713]   G4314 unto G3972 Paul G4671 , Thou G2010 art permitted [G5743]   G3004 to speak [G5721]   G5228 for G4572 thyself G5119 . Then G3972 Paul G1614 stretched forth [G5660]   G5495 the hand G626 , and answered for himself [G5711]  :
G2233 I think [G5766]   G1683 myself G3107 happy G935 , king G67 Agrippa G3195 , because I shall [G5723]   G626 answer for myself [G5738]   G4594 this day G1909 before G4675 thee G4012 touching G3956 all the things G3739 whereof G1458 I am accused [G5743]   G5259 of G2453 the Jews:
G3122 Especially G1492 because I know [G5761]   G4571 thee G5607 to be [G5752]   G1109 expert G5037   G3956 in all G1485 customs G2532 and G2213 questions G2596 which are among G2453 the Jews G1352 : wherefore G1189 I beseech [G5736]   G4675 thee G191 to hear [G5658]   G3450 me G3116 patiently.
G3450 My G3303 manner G3767   G981 of life G1537 from G3503 my youth G3588 , which G1096 was [G5637]   G575 at G746 the first G1722 among G3450 mine G1484 own nation G1722 at G2414 Jerusalem G2467 , know [G5758]   G3956 all G2453 the Jews;
G4267 Which knew [G5723]   G3165 me G509 from the beginning G1437 , if G2309 they would [G5725]   G3140 testify [G5721]   G3754 , that G2596 after G196 the most straitest G139 sect G2251 of our G2356 religion G2198 I lived [G5656]   G5330 a Pharisee.
G2532 And G3568 now G2476 I stand [G5758]   G2919 and am judged [G5746]   G1909 for G1680 the hope G1860 of the promise G1096 made [G5637]   G5259 of G2316 God G4314 unto G3962 our fathers:
G1519 Unto G3739 which G2257 promise our G1429 twelve tribes G1722 , instantly G1616   G3000 serving [G5723]   G2250 God day G2532 and G3571 night G1679 , hope [G5719]   G2658 to come [G5658]   G4012 . For G3739 which G1680 hope's sake G935 , king G67 Agrippa G1458 , I am accused [G5743]   G5259 of G2453 the Jews.
G5101 Why G2919 should it be thought a thing [G5743]   G571 incredible G3844 with G5213 you G1487 , that G2316 God G1453 should raise [G5719]   G3498 the dead?
G1473 I G3303 verily G3767   G1380 thought [G5656]   G1683 with myself G1163 , that I ought [G5750]   G4238 to do [G5658]   G4183 many things G1727 contrary G4314 to G3686 the name G2424 of Jesus G3480 of Nazareth.
G3739 Which thing G4160 I G2532 also G4160 did [G5656]   G1722 in G2414 Jerusalem G2532 : and G4183 many G40 of the saints G2623 did G1473 I G2623 shut up [G5656]   G5438 in prison G2983 , having received [G5631]   G1849 authority G3844 from G749 the chief priests G5037 ; and G846 when they G337 were put to death [G5746]   G2702 , I gave [G5656]   G5586 my voice against them .
G2532 And G5097 I punished [G5723]   G846 them G4178 oft G2596 in G3956 every G4864 synagogue G315 , and compelled [G5707]   G987 them to blaspheme [G5721]   G5037 ; and G1693 being G4057 exceedingly G1693 mad against [G5740]   G846 them G1377 , I persecuted [G5707]   G2532 them even G1519 unto G2193   G1854 strange G4172 cities.
G2532   G1722 Whereupon G3739   G4198 as I went [G5740]   G1519 to G1154 Damascus G3326 with G1849 authority G2532 and G2011 commission G3844 from G749 the chief priests,
G2250 At midday G3319   G935 , O king G1492 , I saw [G5627]   G2596 in G3598 the way G5457 a light G3771 from heaven G5228 , above G2987 the brightness G2246 of the sun G4034 , shining round about [G5660]   G3165 me G2532 and G4198 them which journeyed [G5740]   G4862 with G1698 me.
G1161 And G2257 when we G2667 were G3956 all G2667 fallen [G5631]   G1519 to G1093 the earth G191 , I heard [G5656]   G5456 a voice G2980 speaking [G5723]   G4314 unto G3165 me G2532 , and G3004 saying [G5723]   G1446 in the Hebrew G1258 tongue G4549 , Saul G4549 , Saul G5101 , why G1377 persecutest thou [G5719]   G3165 me G4642 ? it is hard G4671 for thee G2979 to kick [G5721]   G4314 against G2759 the pricks.
G1161 And G1473 I G2036 said [G5627]   G5101 , Who G1488 art thou [G5748]   G2962 , Lord G1161 ? And G2036 he said [G5627]   G1473 , I G1510 am [G5748]   G2424 Jesus G3739 whom G4771 thou G1377 persecutest [G5719]  .
G235 But G450 rise [G5628]   G2532 , and G2476 stand [G5628]   G1909 upon G4675 thy G4228 feet G1063 : for G3700 I have appeared [G5681]   G4671 unto thee G1519 for G5124 this purpose G4400 , to make [G5664]   G4571 thee G5257 a minister G2532 and G3144 a witness G5037 both G3739 of these things which G1492 thou hast seen [G5627]   G5037 , and G3739 of those things in the which G3700 I will appear [G5701]   G4671 unto thee;
G1807 Delivering [G5734]   G4571 thee G1537 from G2992 the people G2532 , and G1484 from the Gentiles G1519 , unto G3739 whom G3568 now G649 I send [G5719]   G4571 thee,
G455 To open [G5658]   G846 their G3788 eyes G1994 , and to turn [G5658]   G575 them from G4655 darkness G1519 to G5457 light G2532 , and G1849 from the power G4567 of Satan G1909 unto G2316 God G846 , that they G2983 may receive [G5629]   G859 forgiveness G266 of sins G2532 , and G2819 inheritance G1722 among G37 them which are sanctified [G5772]   G4102 by faith G1519 that is in G1691 me.
G3606 Whereupon G935 , O king G67 Agrippa G1096 , I was [G5633]   G3756 not G545 disobedient G3770 unto the heavenly G3701 vision:
G235 But G518 shewed [G5723]   [G5625]   G518   [G5707]   G4412 first G1722 unto them of G1154 Damascus G2532 , and G2414 at Jerusalem G5037 , and G1519 throughout G3956 all G5561 the coasts G2449 of Judaea G2532 , and G1484 then to the Gentiles G3340 , that they should repent [G5721]   G2532 and G1994 turn [G5721]   G1909 to G2316 God G4238 , and do [G5723]   G2041 works G514 meet G3341 for repentance.
G1752 For G5130 these causes G2453 the Jews G4815 caught [G5642]   G3165 me G1722 in G2411 the temple G3987 , and went about [G5711]   G1315 to kill [G5670]   me .
G5177 Having G3767 therefore G5177 obtained [G5631]   G1947 help G3844 of G2316 God G2476 , I continue [G5758]   G891 unto G5026 this G2250 day G3140 , witnessing [G5746]   G5037 both G3398 to small G2532 and G3173 great G3004 , saying [G5723]   G3762 none other things G1622 than G3739 those which G5037   G4396 the prophets G2532 and G3475 Moses G2980 did say [G5656]   G3195 should [G5723]   G1096 come [G5738]  :
G1487 That G5547 Christ G3805 should suffer G1487 , and that G4413 he should be the first G386 that should rise G1537 from G3498 the dead G3195 , and should [G5719]   G2605 shew [G5721]   G5457 light G2992 unto the people G2532 , and G1484 to the Gentiles.
G1161 And G846 as he G5023 thus G626 spake for himself [G5740]   G5347 , Festus G5346 said [G5713]   G3173 with a loud G5456 voice G3972 , Paul G3105 , thou art beside thyself [G5736]   G4183 ; much G1121 learning G4062 doth make [G5719]   G4571 thee G1519 mad G3130  .
G1161 But G5346 he said [G5748]   G3105 , I am G3756 not G3105 mad [G5736]   G2903 , most noble G5347 Festus G235 ; but G669 speak forth [G5736]   G4487 the words G225 of truth G2532 and G4997 soberness.
G1063 For G935 the king G1987 knoweth [G5736]   G4012 of G5130 these G4314 things, before G3739 whom G2532 also G2980 I speak [G5719]   G3955 freely [G5740]   G1063 : for G3982 I am persuaded [G5743]   G3756 that G5100 none G3762   G5130 of these things G2990 are hidden [G5721]   G846 from him G1063 ; for G5124 this thing G2076 was [G5748]   G3756 not G4238 done [G5772]   G1722 in G1137 a corner.
G935 King G67 Agrippa G4100 , believest thou [G5719]   G4396 the prophets G1492 ? I know [G5758]   G3754 that G4100 thou believest [G5719]  .
G1161 Then G67 Agrippa G5346 said [G5713]   G4314 unto G3972 Paul G1722 , Almost G3641   G3982 thou persuadest [G5719]   G3165 me G1096 to be [G5635]   G5546 a Christian.
G1161 And G3972 Paul G2036 said [G5627]   G302 , I would G2172   [G5665]   G2316 to God G3756 , that not G3440 only G4571 thou G235 , but G2532 also G3956 all G191 that hear [G5723]   G3450 me G4594 this day G1096 , were [G5635]   G2532 both G1722 almost G3641   G2532 , and G1722 altogether G4183   G5108 such G3697 as G2504   G1510 I am [G5748]   G3924 , except G5130 these G1199 bonds.
G2532 And G846 when he G2036 had G5023 thus G2036 spoken [G5631]   G935 , the king G450 rose up [G5627]   G2532 , and G2232 the governor G5037 , and G959 Bernice G2532 , and G4775 they that sat with [G5740]   G846 them:
G2532 And G402 when they were gone aside [G5660]   G2980 , they talked [G5707]   G4314 between G240 themselves G3004 , saying [G5723]   G3754 , G3778 This G444 man G4238 doeth [G5719]   G3762 nothing G514 worthy G2288 of death G2228 or G1199 of bonds.
G1161 Then G5346 said [G5713]   G67 Agrippa G5347 unto Festus G3778 , This G444 man G1410 might [G5711]   G630 have been set at liberty [G5771]   G1508 , if G1941 he had G1508 not G1941 appealed unto [G5716]   G2541 Caesar.
ERV(i) 1 And Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth his hand, and made his defence: 2 I think myself happy, king Agrippa, that I am to make my defence before thee this day touching all the things whereof I am accused by the Jews: 3 especially because thou art expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently. 4 My manner of life then from my youth up, which was from the beginning among mine own nation, and at Jerusalem, know all the Jews; 5 having knowledge of me from the first, if they be willing to testify, how that after the straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. 6 And now I stand [here] to be judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers; 7 unto which [promise] our twelve tribes, earnestly serving [God] night and day, hope to attain. And concerning this hope I am accused by the Jews, O king! 8 Why is it judged incredible with you, if God doth raise the dead? 9 I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. 10 And this I also did in Jerusalem: and I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death, I gave my vote against them. 11 And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities. 12 Whereupon as I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests, 13 at midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them that journeyed with me. 14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice saying unto me in the Hebrew language, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the goad. 15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. 16 But arise, and stand upon thy feet: for to this end have I appeared unto thee, to appoint thee a minister and a witness both of the things wherein thou hast seen me, and of the things wherein I will appear unto thee; 17 delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom I send thee, 18 to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me. 19 Wherefore, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: 20 but declared both to them of Damascus first, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judaea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance. 21 For this cause the Jews seized me in the temple, and assayed to kill me. 22 Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand unto this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses did say should come; 23 how that the Christ must suffer, [and] how that he first by the resurrection of the dead should proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles. 24 And as he thus made his defence, Festus saith with a loud voice, Paul, thou art mad; thy much learning doth turn thee to madness. 25 But Paul saith, I am not mad, most excellent Festus; but speak forth words of truth and soberness. 26 For the king knoweth of these things, unto whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things is hidden from him; for this hath not been done in a corner. 27 King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. 28 And Agrippa [said] unto Paul, With but little persuasion thou wouldest fain make me a Christian. 29 And Paul [said], I would to God, that whether with little or with much, not thou only, but also all that hear me this day, might become such as I am, except these bonds. 30 And the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them: 31 and when they had withdrawn, they spake one to another, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds. 32 And Agrippa said unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.
