  3 H7971 That they sent [H8799]   H7121 and called [H8799]   H3379 him. And Jeroboam H6951 and all the congregation H3478 of Israel H935 came [H8799]   H1696 , and spake [H8762]   H7346 unto Rehoboam H559 , saying [H8800]  ,
  4 H1 Thy father H7185 made H5923 our yoke H7185 grievous [H8689]   H7186 : now therefore make thou the grievous H5656 service H1 of thy father H3515 , and his heavy H5923 yoke H5414 which he put [H8804]   H7043 upon us, lighter [H8685]   H5647 , and we will serve [H8799]   thee.
  5 H559 And he said [H8799]   H3212 unto them, Depart [H8798]   H7969 yet for three H3117 days H7725 , then come again [H8798]   H5971 to me. And the people H3212 departed [H8799]  .
  6 H4428 And king H7346 Rehoboam H3289 consulted [H8735]   H2205 with the old men H5975 , that stood [H8802]   H6440 before H8010 Solomon H1 his father H2416 while he yet lived H559 , and said [H8800]   H3289 , How do ye advise [H8737]   H7725 that I may [H8687]   H1697 answer H5971 this people?
  7 H1696 And they spake [H8762]   H559 unto him, saying [H8800]   H5650 , If thou wilt be a servant H5971 unto this people H3117 this day H5647 , and wilt serve [H8804]   H6030 them, and answer [H8804]   H1696 them, and speak [H8765]   H2896 good H1697 words H5650 to them, then they will be thy servants H3117 for ever.
  8 H5800 But he forsook [H8799]   H6098 the counsel H2205 of the old men H3289 , which they had given [H8804]   H3289 him, and consulted [H8735]   H3206 with the young men H1431 that were grown up [H8804]   H5975 with him, and which stood [H8802]   H6440 before him:
  9 H559 And he said [H8799]   H3289 unto them, What counsel give [H8737]   H7725 ye that we may [H8686]   H1697 answer H5971 this people H1696 , who have spoken [H8765]   H559 to me, saying [H8800]   H7043 , Make H5923 the yoke H1 which thy father H5414 did put [H8804]   H7043 upon us lighter [H8685]  ?
  10 H3206 And the young men H1431 that were grown up [H8804]   H1696 with him spake [H8762]   H559 unto him, saying [H8800]   H559 , Thus shalt thou speak [H8799]   H5971 unto this people H1696 that spake [H8765]   H559 unto thee, saying [H8800]   H1 , Thy father H3513 made H5923 our yoke H3513 heavy [H8689]   H7043 , but make thou it lighter [H8685]   H1696 unto us; thus shalt thou say [H8762]   H6995 unto them, My little H5666 finger shall be thicker [H8804]   H1 than my father's H4975 loins.
  11 H1 And now whereas my father H6006 did lade [H8689]   H3515 you with a heavy H5923 yoke H3254 , I will add [H8686]   H5923 to your yoke H1 : my father H3256 hath chastised [H8765]   H7752 you with whips H3256 , but I will chastise [H8762]   H6137 you with scorpions.
  12 H3379 So Jeroboam H5971 and all the people H935 came [H8799]   H7346 to Rehoboam H7992 the third H3117 day H4428 , as the king H1696 had appointed [H8765]   H559 , saying [H8800]   H7725 , Come to me again [H8798]   H7992 the third H3117 day.
  13 H4428 And the king H6030 answered [H8799]   H5971 the people H7186 roughly H5800 , and forsook [H8799]   H2205 the old men's H6098 counsel H3289 that they gave [H8804]   him;
  14 H1696 And spake [H8762]   H6098 to them after the counsel H3206 of the young men H559 , saying [H8800]   H1 , My father H3513 made H5923 your yoke H3513 heavy [H8689]   H3254 , and I will add [H8686]   H5923 to your yoke H1 : my father H3256 also chastised [H8765]   H7752 you with whips H3256 , but I will chastise [H8762]   H6137 you with scorpions.
  15 H4428 Wherefore the king H8085 hearkened [H8804]   H5971 not unto the people H5438 ; for the cause H3068 was from the LORD H6965 , that he might perform [H8687]   H1697 his saying H3068 , which the LORD H1696 spake [H8765]   H3027 by H281 Ahijah H7888 the Shilonite H3379 unto Jeroboam H1121 the son H5028 of Nebat.
  16 H7725 So [H8686]   H3478 when all Israel H7200 saw [H8799]   H4428 that the king H8085 hearkened [H8804]   H5971 not unto them, the people H1697 answered H4428 the king H559 , saying [H8800]   H2506 , What portion H1732 have we in David H5159 ? neither have we inheritance H1121 in the son H3448 of Jesse H168 : to your tents H3478 , O Israel H7200 : now see [H8798]   H1004 to thine own house H1732 , David H3478 . So Israel H3212 departed [H8799]   H168 unto their tents.
  17 H1121 But as for the children H3478 of Israel H3427 which dwelt [H8802]   H5892 in the cities H3063 of Judah H7346 , Rehoboam H4427 reigned [H8799]   over them.
  18 H4428 Then king H7346 Rehoboam H7971 sent [H8799]   H151 Adoram H4522 , who was over the tribute H3478 ; and all Israel H7275 stoned [H8799]   H68 him with stones H4191 , that he died [H8799]   H4428 . Therefore king H7346 Rehoboam H553 made speed [H8694]   H5927 to get him up [H8800]   H4818 to his chariot H5127 , to flee [H8800]   H3389 to Jerusalem.
  19 H3478 So Israel H6586 rebelled [H8799]   H1004 against the house H1732 of David H3117 unto this day.
  20 H3478 And it came to pass, when all Israel H8085 heard [H8800]   H3379 that Jeroboam H7725 was come again [H8804]   H7971 , that they sent [H8799]   H7121 and called [H8799]   H5712 him unto the congregation H4427 , and made him king [H8686]   H3478 over all Israel H310 : there was none that followed H1004 the house H1732 of David H2108 , but H7626 the tribe H3063 of Judah only.
  21 H7346 And when Rehoboam H935 was come [H8799]   H3389 to Jerusalem H6950 , he assembled [H8686]   H1004 all the house H3063 of Judah H7626 , with the tribe H1144 of Benjamin H3967 , an hundred H8084 and fourscore H505 thousand H977 chosen men [H8803]   H6213 , which were warriors [H8802]   H4421   H3898 , to fight [H8736]   H1004 against the house H3478 of Israel H7725 , to bring H4410 the kingdom H7725 again [H8687]   H7346 to Rehoboam H1121 the son H8010 of Solomon.
  22 H1697 But the word H430 of God H8098 came unto Shemaiah H376 the man H430 of God H559 , saying [H8800]  ,
  23 H559 Speak [H8798]   H7346 unto Rehoboam H1121 , the son H8010 of Solomon H4428 , king H3063 of Judah H1004 , and unto all the house H3063 of Judah H1144 and Benjamin H3499 , and to the remnant H5971 of the people H559 , saying [H8800]  ,
  24 H559 Thus saith [H8804]   H3068 the LORD H5927 , Ye shall not go up [H8799]   H3898 , nor fight [H8735]   H251 against your brethren H1121 the children H3478 of Israel H7725 : return [H8798]   H376 every man H1004 to his house H1697 ; for this thing H1961 is [H8738]   H8085 from me. They hearkened [H8799]   H1697 therefore to the word H3068 of the LORD H7725 , and returned [H8799]   H3212 to depart [H8800]   H1697 , according to the word H3068 of the LORD.
  25 H3379 Then Jeroboam H1129 built [H8799]   H7927 Shechem H2022 in mount H669 Ephraim H3427 , and dwelt [H8799]   H3318 therein; and went out [H8799]   H1129 from thence, and built [H8799]   H6439 Penuel.
  26 H3379 And Jeroboam H559 said [H8799]   H3820 in his heart H4467 , Now shall the kingdom H7725 return [H8799]   H1004 to the house H1732 of David:
  27 H5971 If this people H5927 go up [H8799]   H6213 to do [H8800]   H2077 sacrifice H1004 in the house H3068 of the LORD H3389 at Jerusalem H3820 , then shall the heart H5971 of this people H7725 turn again [H8804]   H113 unto their lord H7346 , even unto Rehoboam H4428 king H3063 of Judah H2026 , and they shall kill [H8804]   H7725 me, and go again [H8804]   H7346 to Rehoboam H4428 king H3063 of Judah.
  28 H4428 Whereupon the king H3289 took counsel [H8735]   H6213 , and made [H8799]   H8147 two H5695 calves H2091 of gold H559 , and said [H8799]   H7227 unto them, It is too much H5927 for you to go up [H8800]   H3389 to Jerusalem H430 : behold thy gods H3478 , O Israel H5927 , which brought thee up [H8689]   H776 out of the land H4714 of Egypt.
  29 H7760 And he set [H8799]   H259 the one H1008 in Bethel H259 , and the other H5414 put [H8804]   H1835 he in Dan.
  30 H1697 And this thing H2403 became a sin H5971 : for the people H3212 went [H8799]   H6440 to worship before H259 the one H1835 , even unto Dan.
  31 H6213 And he made [H8799]   H1004 an house H1116 of high places H6213 , and made [H8799]   H3548 priests H7098 of the lowest H5971 of the people H1121 , which were not of the sons H3878 of Levi.
  32 H3379 And Jeroboam H6213 ordained [H8799]   H2282 a feast H8066 in the eighth H2320 month H2568 , on the fifteenth H6240   H3117 day H2320 of the month H2282 , like unto the feast H3063 that is in Judah H5927 , and he offered [H8686]   H4196 upon the altar H6213 . So did [H8804]   H1008 he in Bethel H2076 , sacrificing [H8763]   H5695 unto the calves H6213 that he had made [H8804]   H5975 : and he placed [H8689]   H1008 in Bethel H3548 the priests H1116 of the high places H6213 which he had made [H8804]  .
  33 H5927 So he offered [H8686]   H4196 upon the altar H6213 which he had made [H8804]   H1008 in Bethel H2568 the fifteenth H6240   H3117 day H8066 of the eighth H2320 month H2320 , even in the month H908 which he had devised [H8804]   H3820 of his own heart H6213 ; and ordained [H8799]   H2282 a feast H1121 unto the children H3478 of Israel H5927 : and he offered [H8686]   H4196 upon the altar H6999 , and burnt incense [H8687]  .

  4 H1 אביך Thy father H7185 הקשׁה grievous: H853 את   H5923 עלנו made our yoke H859 ואתה therefore make thou H6258 עתה now H7043 הקל us, lighter, H5656 מעבדת service H1 אביך of thy father, H7186 הקשׁה the grievous H5923 ומעלו yoke H3515 הכבד and his heavy H834 אשׁר which H5414 נתן he put H5921 עלינו upon H5647 ונעבדך׃ and we will serve

  7 H1696 וידבר And they spoke H413 אליו unto H559 לאמר him, saying, H518 אם If H3117 היום this day, H1961 תהיה thou wilt be H5650 עבד a servant H5971 לעם people H2088 הזה unto this H5647 ועבדתם and wilt serve H6030 ועניתם them, and answer H1696 ודברת them, and speak H413 אליהם to H1697 דברים words H2896 טובים good H1961 והיו them, then they will be H5650 לך עבדים thy servants H3605 כל forever.   8 H5800 ויעזב But he forsook H853 את   H6098 עצת the counsel H2205 הזקנים of the old men, H834 אשׁר which H3289 יעצהו they had given H3289 ויועץ him, and consulted H853 את   H3206 הילדים the young men H834 אשׁר that H1431 גדלו were grown up H854 אתו with H834 אשׁר him, which H5975 העמדים stood H6440 לפניו׃ before

H3808 ולא neither H5159 נחלה inheritance H1121 בבן in the son H3448 ישׁי of Jesse: H168 לאהליך to your tents, H3478 ישׂראל O Israel: H6258 עתה now H7200 ראה see H1004 ביתך to thine own house, H1732 דוד David.   17 H1121 ובני But the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel H3427 הישׁבים which dwelt H5892 בערי in the cities H3063 יהודה of Judah, H4427 וימלך reigned H5921 עליהם over H7346 רחבעם׃ Rehoboam
  18 H7971 וישׁלח sent H4428 המלך Then king H7346 רחבעם Rehoboam H853 את   H151 אדרם Adoram, H834 אשׁר who H5921 על over H4522 המס the tribute; H7275 וירגמו stoned H3605 כל and all H3478 ישׂראל Israel H68 בו אבן him with stones, H4191 וימת that he died. H4428 והמלך Therefore king H7346 רחבעם Rehoboam H553 התאמץ made speed H5927 לעלות to get him up H4818 במרכבה to his chariot, H5127 לנוס to flee H3389 ירושׁלם׃ to Jerusalem.

  20 H1961 ויהי And it came to pass, H8085 כשׁמע heard H3605 כל when all H3478 ישׂראל Israel H3588 כי that H7725 שׁב was come again, H3379 ירבעם Jeroboam H7971 וישׁלחו that they sent H7121 ויקראו and called H853 אתו   H413 אל him unto H5712 העדה the congregation, H4427 וימליכו   H853 אתו   H5921 על over H3605 כל all H3478 ישׂראל Israel: H3808 לא none H1961 היה there was H310 אחרי that followed H1004 בית the house H1732 דוד of David, H2108 זולתי but H7626 שׁבט the tribe H3063 יהודה of Judah H905 לבדו׃ only.
  21 H935 ויבאו was come H7346 רחבעם And when Rehoboam H3389 ירושׁלם to Jerusalem, H6950 ויקהל he assembled H853 את   H3605 כל all H1004 בית the house H3063 יהודה of Judah, H853 ואת   H7626 שׁבט the tribe H1144 בנימן of Benjamin, H3967 מאה a hundred H8084 ושׁמנים and fourscore H505 אלף thousand H970 בחור   H6213 עשׂה men, which were warriors, H4421 מלחמה men, which were warriors, H3898 להלחם to fight H5973 עם against H1004 בית the house H3478 ישׂראל of Israel, H7725 להשׁיב to bring H853 את   H4410 המלוכה the kingdom H7346 לרחבעם again to Rehoboam H1121 בן the son H8010 שׁלמה׃ of Solomon.

  23 H559 אמר Speak H413 אל unto H7346 רחבעם Rehoboam, H1121 בן the son H8010 שׁלמה of Solomon, H4428 מלך king H3063 יהודה of Judah, H413 ואל and unto H3605 כל all H1004 בית the house H3063 יהודה of Judah H1144 ובנימין and Benjamin, H3499 ויתר and to the remnant H5971 העם of the people, H559 לאמר׃ saying,
  24 H3541 כה Thus H559 אמר saith H3069 יהוה   H3808 לא Ye shall not H5927 תעלו go up, H3808 ולא nor H3898 תלחמון fight H5973 עם against H251 אחיכם your brethren H1121 בני the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel: H7725 שׁובו return H376 אישׁ every man H1004 לביתו to his house; H3588 כי for H853 מאתי   H1961 נהיה is H1697 הדבר thing H2088 הזה this H8085 וישׁמעו me. They hearkened H853 את   H1697 דבר therefore to the word H3069 יהוה   H7725 וישׁבו and returned H1980 ללכת to depart, H1697 כדבר according to the word H3069 יהוה׃  
  25 H1129 ויבן built H3379 ירבעם Then Jeroboam H853 את   H7927 שׁכם Shechem H2022 בהר in mount H669 אפרים Ephraim, H3427 וישׁב and dwelt H3318 בה ויצא therein; and went out H8033 משׁם from thence, H1129 ויבן and built H853 את   H6439 פנואל׃ Penuel.
  26 H559 ויאמר said H3379 ירבעם And Jeroboam H3820 בלבו in his heart, H6258 עתה Now H7725 תשׁוב return H4467 הממלכה shall the kingdom H1004 לבית to the house H1732 דוד׃ of David:
  27 H518 אם If H5927 יעלה go up H5971 העם people H2088 הזה this H6213 לעשׂות to do H2077 זבחים sacrifice H1004 בבית in the house H3068 יהוה of the LORD H3389 בירושׁלם at Jerusalem, H7725 ושׁב turn again H3820 לב then shall the heart H5971 העם people H2088 הזה of this H413 אל unto H113 אדניהם their lord, H413 אל unto H7346 רחבעם Rehoboam H4428 מלך king H3063 יהודה of Judah, H2026 והרגני and they shall kill H7725 ושׁבו me, and go again H413 אל to H7346 רחבעם Rehoboam H4428 מלך king H3063 יהודה׃ of Judah.
  28 H3289 ויועץ took counsel, H4428 המלך Whereupon the king H6213 ויעשׂ and made H8147 שׁני two H5695 עגלי calves H2091 זהב gold, H559 ויאמר and said H413 אלהם unto H7227 רב them, It is too much H5927 לכם מעלות for you to go up H3389 ירושׁלם to Jerusalem: H2009 הנה behold H430 אלהיך thy gods, H3478 ישׂראל O Israel, H834 אשׁר which H5927 העלוך brought H776 מארץ thee up out of the land H4714 מצרים׃ of Egypt.
  29 H7760 וישׂם And he set H853 את   H259 האחד the one H1008 בבית אל in Bethel, H853 ואת   H259 האחד and the other H5414 נתן put H1835 בדן׃ he in Dan.
  30 H1961 ויהי became H1697 הדבר thing H2088 הזה And this H2403 לחטאת a sin: H1980 וילכו went H5971 העם for the people H6440 לפני before H259 האחד the one, H5704 עד unto H1835 דן׃ Dan.
  31 H6213 ויעשׂ And he made H853 את   H1004 בית a house H1116 במות of high places, H6213 ויעשׂ and made H3548 כהנים priests H7098 מקצות of the lowest H5971 העם of the people, H834 אשׁר which H3808 לא not H1961 היו were H1121 מבני of the sons H3878 לוי׃ of Levi.

H3651 כן So H6213 עשׂה did H1008 בבית אל he in Bethel, H2076 לזבח sacrificing H5695 לעגלים unto the calves H834 אשׁר that H6213 עשׂה he had made: H5975 והעמיד and he placed H1008 בבית אל in Bethel H853 את   H3548 כהני the priests H1116 הבמות of the high places H834 אשׁר which H6213 עשׂה׃ he had made.
  33 H5927 ויעל So he offered H5921 על upon H4196 המזבח the altar H834 אשׁר which H6213 עשׂה he had made H1008 בבית אל in Bethel H2568 בחמשׁה the fifteenth H6240 עשׂר the fifteenth H3117 יום day H2320 בחדשׁ month, H8066 השׁמיני of the eighth H2320 בחדשׁ in the month H834 אשׁר which H908 בדא he had devised H905 מלבד   H6213 ויעשׂ and ordained H2282 חג a feast H1121 לבני unto the children H3478 ישׂראל of Israel: H5927 ויעל and he offered H5921 על upon H4196 המזבח the altar, H6999 להקטיר׃ and burnt incense.
