1 Kings 8 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel , and all the heads of the tribes , the leaders of the fathers of the children of Israel , to king Solomon in Jerusalem , that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David , which is Zion.

4 H5927 [H8686] And they brought H727 the ark H3068 of the LORD H168 , and the tabernacle H4150 of the congregation H6944 , and all the holy H3627 vessels H168 that were in the tabernacle H3548 , even those did the priests H3881 and the Levites H5927 [H8686] bring.

5 H4428 And king H8010 Solomon H5712 , and all the congregation H3478 of Israel H3259 [H8737] , that were assembled H6440 to him, were with him before H727 the ark H2076 [H8764] , sacrificing H6629 sheep H1241 and oxen H5608 [H8735] , that could not be counted H4487 [H8735] nor numbered H7230 for multitude.

6 H3548 And the priests H935 [H8686] brought H727 the ark H1285 of the covenant H3068 of the LORD H4725 to its place H1687 , into the inner sanctuary H1004 of the house H6944 , to the most H6944 holy H3671 place, even under the wings H3742 of the cherubim.

7 H3742 For the cherubim H6566 [H8802] spread forth H3671 their two wings H4725 over the place H727 of the ark H3742 , and the cherubim H5526 [H8799] covered H727 the ark H905 and its staffs H4605 above.

8 H748 [H8686] And they drew out H905 the staffs H7218 , that the ends H905 of the staffs H7200 [H8735] were seen out H6944 in the holy H6440 place before H1687 the inner sanctuary H7200 [H8735] , and they were not seen H2351 outside H3117 : and there they are to this day.

10 H3548 And it came to pass, when the priests H3318 [H8800] had come out H6944 of the holy H6051 place, that the cloud H4390 [H8804] filled H1004 the house H3068 of the LORD,

11 H3548 So that the priests H3201 [H8804] could H5975 [H8800] not stand H8334 [H8763] to minister H6440 because H6051 of the cloud H3519 : for the glory H3068 of the LORD H4390 [H8804] had filled H1004 the house H3068 of the LORD.

12 H559 [H8804] Then spoke H8010 Solomon H3068 , The LORD H559 [H8804] said H7931 [H8800] that he would dwell H6205 in the thick darkness.

13 H1129 [H8800] I have surely H1129 [H8804] built H1004 thee an house H2073 to dwell in H4349 , a settled place H3427 [H8800] for thee to abide in H5769 for ever.

14 H4428 And the king H5437 0 turned H6440 his face H5437 [H8686] about H1288 [H8762] , and blessed H6951 all the congregation H3478 of Israel H6951 : (and all the congregation H3478 of Israel H5975 [H8802] were standing;)

15 H559 [H8799] And he said H1288 [H8803] , Blessed H3068 be the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H1696 [H8765] , who spoke H6310 with his mouth H1732 to David H1 my father H3027 , and hath with his hand H4390 [H8765] fulfilled H559 [H8800] it, saying,

18 H3068 And the LORD H559 [H8799] said H1732 to David H1 my father H3282 H834 , Though H3824 it was in thy heart H1129 [H8800] to build H1004 an house H8034 to my name H2895 [H8689] , thou didst well H3824 that it was in thy heart.

19 H7535 Nevertheless H1129 [H8799] thou shalt not build H1004 the house H1121 ; but thy son H3318 [H8802] that shall come forth out H2504 of thy loins H1129 [H8799] , he shall build H1004 the house H8034 to my name.

20 H3068 And the LORD H6965 [H8686] hath performed H1697 his word H1696 [H8765] that he spoke H6965 [H8799] , and I have risen H1732 in the stead of David H1 my father H3427 [H8799] , and sit H3678 on the throne H3478 of Israel H3068 , as the LORD H1696 [H8765] promised H1129 [H8799] , and have built H1004 an house H8034 for the name H3068 of the LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel.

21 H7760 [H8799] And I have set H4725 there a place H727 for the ark H1285 , in which is the covenant H3068 of the LORD H3772 [H8804] , which he made H1 with our fathers H3318 [H8687] , when he brought them from H776 the land H4714 of Egypt.

22 H8010 And Solomon H5975 [H8799] stood H6440 before H4196 the altar H3068 of the LORD H5048 in the presence of H6951 all the congregation H3478 of Israel H6566 [H8799] , and spread forth H3709 his hands H8064 toward heaven:

23 H559 [H8799] And he said H3068 , LORD H430 God H3478 of Israel H430 , there is no God H8064 like thee, in heaven H4605 above H776 , or on earth H8104 [H8802] beneath, who keepest H1285 covenant H2617 and mercy H5650 with thy servants H1980 [H8802] that walk H6440 before H3820 thee with all their heart:

27 H430 But will God H552 indeed H3427 [H8799] dwell H776 on the earth H8064 ? behold, the heaven H8064 and heaven H8064 of heavens H3557 [H8770] cannot contain H637 thee; how much less H1004 this house H1129 [H8804] that I have built?

28 H6437 [H8804] Yet have thou respect H8605 to the prayer H5650 of thy servant H8467 , and to his supplication H3068 , O LORD H430 my God H8085 [H8800] , to hearken H7440 to the cry H8605 and to the prayer H5650 , which thy servant H6419 [H8693] prayeth H6440 before H3117 thee this day:

29 H5869 That thy eyes H6605 [H8803] may be open H1004 toward this house H3915 night H3117 and day H4725 , even toward the place H559 [H8804] of which thou hast said H8034 , My name H8085 [H8800] shall be there: that thou mayest hearken H8605 to the prayer H5650 which thy servant H6419 [H8691] shall make H4725 toward this place.

30 H8085 [H8804] And hearken H8467 thou to the supplication H5650 of thy servant H5971 , and of thy people H3478 Israel H6419 [H8691] , when they shall pray H4725 toward this place H8085 [H8799] : and hear H8064 thou in heaven H3427 [H8800] thy dwelling H4725 place H8085 [H8804] : and when thou hearest H5545 [H8804] , forgive.

35 H8064 When heaven H6113 [H8736] is shut up H4306 , and there is no rain H2398 [H8799] , because they have sinned H6419 [H8694] against thee; if they pray H4725 toward this place H3034 [H8689] , and confess H8034 thy name H7725 [H8799] , and turn H2403 from their sin H6031 [H8686] , when thou afflictest them:

36 H8085 [H8799] Then hear H8064 thou in heaven H5545 [H8804] , and forgive H2403 the sin H5650 of thy servants H5971 , and of thy people H3478 Israel H3384 [H8686] , that thou mayest teach H2896 them the good H1870 way H3212 [H8799] in which they should walk H5414 [H8804] , and give H4306 rain H776 upon thy land H5414 [H8804] , which thou hast given H5971 to thy people H5159 for an inheritance.

37 H776 If there shall be in the land H7458 famine H1698 , if there shall be pestilence H7711 , blighting H3420 , mildew H697 , locust H2625 , or if there shall be caterpiller H341 [H8802] ; if their enemy H6887 [H8686] shall besiege H776 them in the land H8179 of their cities H5061 ; whatever plague H4245 , whatever sickness there shall be;

38 H8605 Whatever prayer H8467 and supplication H120 shall be made by any man H5971 , or by all thy people H3478 Israel H3045 [H8799] , who shall know H376 every man H5061 the plague H3824 of his own heart H6566 [H8804] , and spread forth H3709 his hands H1004 toward this house:

39 H8085 [H8799] Then hear H8064 thou in heaven H3427 [H8800] thy dwelling H4349 place H5545 [H8804] , and forgive H6213 [H8804] , and do H5414 [H8804] , and give H376 to every man H1870 according to his ways H3824 , whose heart H3045 [H8799] thou knowest H3045 [H8804] ; (for thou, even thou only, knowest H3824 the hearts H1121 of all the children H120 of men;)

40 H3372 [H8799] That they may fear H3117 thee all the days H2416 that they live H6440 in H127 the land H5414 [H8804] which thou gavest H1 to our fathers.

41 H5237 Moreover concerning a stranger H5971 , that is not of thy people H3478 Israel H935 [H8804] , but cometh out H7350 of a far H776 country H4616 for H8034 thy name's sake;

42 H8085 [H8799] (For they shall hear H1419 of thy great H8034 name H2389 , and of thy strong H3027 hand H5186 [H8803] , and of thy outstretched H2220 arm H935 [H8804] ;) when he shall come H6419 [H8694] and pray H1004 toward this house;

44 H5971 If thy people H3318 [H8799] go out H4421 to battle H341 [H8802] against their enemy H1870 , wherever H7971 [H8799] thou shalt send H6419 [H8694] them, and shall pray H3068 to the LORD H1870 toward H5892 the city H977 [H8804] which thou hast chosen H1004 , and toward the house H1129 [H8804] that I have built H8034 for thy name:

45 H8085 [H8804] Then hear H8064 thou in heaven H8605 their prayer H8467 and their supplication H6213 [H8804] , and maintain H4941 their cause.

46 H2398 [H8799] If they shall sin H120 against thee, (for there is no man H2398 [H8799] that sinneth H599 [H8804] not,) and thou shalt be angry H5414 [H8804] with them, and deliver H341 [H8802] them to the enemy H7617 [H8804] , so that they carry them away H7617 [H8802] captives H6440 to H776 the land H341 [H8802] of the enemy H7350 , far H7138 or near;

56 H1288 [H8803] Blessed H3068 be the LORD H5414 [H8804] , that hath given H4496 rest H5971 to his people H3478 Israel H1696 [H8765] , according to all that he promised H5307 [H8804] : there hath not failed H259 one H1697 word H2896 of all his good H1697 promise H1696 [H8765] , which he promised H3027 by the hand H4872 of Moses H5650 his servant.

60 H5971 That all the people H776 of the earth H3045 [H8800] may know H3068 that the LORD H430 is God, and that there is none else.

61 H3824 Let your heart H8003 therefore be perfect H3068 with the LORD H430 our God H3212 [H8800] , to walk H2706 in his statutes H8104 [H8800] , and to keep H4687 his commandments H3117 , as at this day.

62 H4428 And the king H3478 , and all Israel H2076 [H8802] with him, offered H2077 sacrifice H6440 before H3068 the LORD.

63 H8010 And Solomon H2076 [H8799] offered H2077 a sacrifice H8002 of peace offerings H2076 [H8804] , which he offered H3068 to the LORD H8147 , two H6242 and twenty H505 thousand H1241 oxen H3967 , and an hundred H6242 and twenty H505 thousand H6629 sheep H4428 . So the king H1121 and all the children H3478 of Israel H2596 [H8799] dedicated H1004 the house H3068 of the LORD.

64 H3117 The same day H4428 did the king H6942 [H8765] consecrate H8432 the middle H2691 of the court H6440 that was before H1004 the house H3068 of the LORD H6213 [H8804] : for there he offered H5930 burnt offerings H4503 , and meat offerings H2459 , and the fat H8002 of the peace offerings H5178 : because the brasen H4196 altar H6440 that was before H3068 the LORD H6996 was too little H3557 [H8687] to receive H5930 the burnt offerings H4503 , and meat offerings H2459 , and the fat H8002 of the peace offerings.

65 H6256 And at that time H8010 Solomon H6213 [H8799] held H2282 a feast H3478 , and all Israel H1419 with him, a great H6951 congregation H935 [H8800] , from the entrance H2574 into Hamath H5158 to the river H4714 of Egypt H6440 , before H3068 the LORD H430 our God H7651 , seven H3117 days H7651 and seven H3117 days H702 H6240 , even fourteen H3117 days.

66 H8066 On the eighth H3117 day H7971 0 he sent H5971 the people H7971 [H8765] away H1288 [H8762] : and they blessed H4428 the king H3212 [H8799] , and went H168 to their tents H8056 joyful H2896 and glad H3820 of heart H2896 for all the goodness H3068 that the LORD H6213 [H8804] had done H1732 for David H5650 his servant H3478 , and for Israel H5971 his people.
