5 H582 So the people H5210 of Nineveh H539 [H8686] believed H430 God, H7121 [H8799] and called H6685 a fast, H3847 [H8799] and put H8242 on sackcloth, H1419 from the greatest H6996 of them even to the least of them.
6 H1697 For word H5060 [H8799] came H4428 to the king H5210 of Nineveh, H6965 [H8799] and he arose H3678 from his throne, H5674 [H8686] and he laid H155 his robe H3680 [H8762] from him, and covered H8242 himself with sackcloth, H3427 [H8799] and sat H665 in ashes.
7 H2199 [H8686] And he caused it to be proclaimed H559 [H8799] and declared H5210 through Nineveh H2940 by the decree H4428 of the king H1419 and his nobles, H559 [H8800] saying, H120 Let neither man H929 nor beast, H1241 herd H6629 nor flock, H2938 [H8799] taste H3972 any thing: H7462 [H8799] let them not feed, H8354 [H8799] nor drink H4325 water:
8 H120 But let man H929 and beast H3680 [H8691] be covered H8242 with sackcloth, H7121 [H8799] and call H2394 mightily H430 to God: H7725 [H8799] yea, let them turn H376 every one H7451 from his evil H1870 way, H2555 and from the violence H3709 that is in their palms.
  9 H3045 [H8802] Who can tell H430 if God H7725 [H8799] will turn H5162 [H8738] and sigh, H7725 [H8804] and turn away H2740 from his burning H639 anger, H6 [H8799] that we perish not?
10 H430 And God H7200 [H8799] saw H4639 their works, H7725 [H8804] that they turned H7451 from their evil H1870 way; H430 and God H5162 [H8735] sighed H7451 of the evil, H1696 [H8765] that he had said H6213 [H8800] that he would do H6213 [H8804] to them; and he did it not.

Thomson(i) 1 Then a word of the Lord came to Jonas a second time saying, 2 " Arise and go to Ninive that great city, and proclaim in it according to the former proclamation which I spoke to thee." 3 So Jonas arose and went to Ninive as the Lord had spoken.   3 H3124 So Jonah H6965 [H8799] arose H3212 [H8799] , and went H5210 to Nineveh H1697 , according to the word H3068 of the LORD H5210 . Now Nineveh H430 was an exceeding H1419 great H5892 city H7969 of three H3117 days H4109 ' journey.
  4 H3124 And Jonah H2490 [H8686] began H935 [H8800] to enter H5892 into the city H259 a H3117 day's H4109 journey H7121 [H8799] , and he cried H559 [H8799] , and said H705 , Yet forty H3117 days H5210 , and Nineveh H2015 [H8737] shall be overthrown.
  5 H582 So the people H5210 of Nineveh H539 [H8686] believed H430 God H7121 [H8799] , and proclaimed H6685 a fast H3847 [H8799] , and put H8242 on sackcloth H1419 , from the greatest H6996 of them even to the least of them.
  6 H1697 For word H5060 [H8799] came H4428 to the king H5210 of Nineveh H6965 [H8799] , and he arose H3678 from his throne H5674 [H8686] , and he laid H155 his robe H3680 [H8762] from him, and covered H8242 himself with sackcloth H3427 [H8799] , and sat H665 in ashes.
  7 H2199 [H8686] And he caused it to be proclaimed H559 [H8799] and declared H5210 through Nineveh H2940 by the decree H4428 of the king H1419 and his nobles H559 [H8800] , saying H120 , Let neither man H929 nor beast H1241 , herd H6629 nor flock H2938 [H8799] , taste H3972 any thing H7462 [H8799] : let them not feed H8354 [H8799] , nor drink H4325 water:
8 H120 But let man H929 and beast H3680 [H8691] be covered H8242 with sackcloth H7121 [H8799] , and cry H2394 mightily H430 to God H7725 [H8799] : yea, let them turn H376 every one H7451 from his evil H1870 way H2555 , and from the violence H3709 that is in their hands.
  9 H3045 [H8802] Who can tell H430 if God H7725 [H8799] will turn H5162 [H8738] and repent H7725 [H8804] , and turn away H2740 from his fierce H639 anger H6 [H8799] , that we perish not?
10 H430 And God H7200 [H8799] saw H4639 their works H7725 [H8804] , that they turned H7451 from their evil H1870 way H430 ; and God H5162 [H8735] repented H7451 of the evil H1696 [H8765] , that he had said H6213 [H8800] that he would do H6213 [H8804] to them; and he did it not.
Brenton(i) 1 And the word of the Lord came to Jonas the second time, saying, 2 Rise, go to Nineve, the great city, and preach in it according to the former preaching which I spoke to thee of. 3 And Jonas arose, and went to Nineve, as the Lord had spoken. Now Nineve was an exceeding great city, of about three days' journey. 4 And Jonas began to enter into the city about a day's journey, and he proclaimed, and said, Yet three days, and Nineve shall be overthrown. 5 And the men of Nineve believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloths, from the greatest of them to the least of them. 6 And the word reached the king of Nineve, and he arose from off his throne, and took off his raiment from him, and put on sackcloth, and sat on ashes. 7 And proclamation was made, and it was commanded in Nineve by the king and by his great men, saying, Let not men, or cattle, or oxen, or sheep, taste any thing, nor feed, nor drink water. 8 So men and cattle were clothed with sackcloths, and cried earnestly to God; and they turned every one from their evil way, and from the iniquity that was in their hands, saying, 9 Who knows if God will repent, and turn from his fierce anger, and so we shall not perish? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil ways; and God repented of the evil which he had said he would do to them; and he did it not.

Leeser(i) 1 And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim unto it the proclamation which I shall speak unto thee. 3 And Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was a great city before God, a three days’ journey. 4 And Jonah began to go through the city one day’s journey, and he called out, and said, Yet forty days more, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 And the men of Nineveh believed in God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them. 6 For when the matter was come unto the king of Nineveh, he arose from his throne, and put off his mantle from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat down on ashes. 7 And he caused to be proclaimed and he published through Nineveh, By the decree of the king and his chief men, it is said, Neither man nor beast, neither herds nor flocks, shall taste any thing; they shall not feed, nor drink water; 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let men call unto God with might; and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence which is in their hands. 9 Who knoweth, but God may turn and bethink himself, and turn away from the fierceness of his anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they had turned from their evil way: and God bethought himself of the evil, which he had spoken that he would do unto them, and he did it not.
YLT(i) 1 And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jonah a second time, saying, 2 `Rise, go unto Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim unto it the proclamation that I am speaking unto thee;' 3 and Jonah riseth, and he goeth unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. And Nineveh hath been a great city before God, a journey of three days. 4 And Jonah beginneth to go in to the city a journey of one day, and proclaimeth, and saith, `Yet forty days—and Nineveh is overturned.'
5 And the men of Nineveh believe in God, and proclaim a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even unto their least, 6 seeing the word doth come unto the king of Nineveh, and he riseth from his throne, and removeth his honourable robe from off him, and spreadeth out sackcloth, and sitteth on the ashes, 7 and he crieth and saith in Nineveh by a decree of the king and his great ones, saying, `Man and beast, herd and flock—let them not taste anything, let them not feed, even water let them not drink; 8 and cover themselves with sackcloth let man and beast, and let them call unto God mightily, and let them turn back each from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who knoweth? He doth turn back, and God hath repented, and hath turned back from the heat of His anger, and we do not perish.' 10 And God seeth their works, that they have turned back from their evil way, and God repenteth of the evil that He spake of doing to them, and he hath not done it .
JuliaSmith(i) 1 And the word of Jehovah will be to Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go to Nineveh the great city, and call to it the calling which I speak to thee. 3 And Jonah will rise and go to Nineveh according to the word of Jehovah. And Nineveh was a great city to God, the going of three days. 4 And Jonah will begin to go in to the city the going of one day, and he will call, and say, Yet forty days and Nineveh being overthrown. 5 And the men of Nineveh will believe in God, and they will call a fast, and put on sackcloth, from great and even to small. 6 And the word will reach to the king of Nineveh, and he will rise from his throne, and he will take away his wide cloak from off him, and he will cover with sackcloth, and he will sit upon ashes. 7 And he will cry out and say in Nineveh from the edict of the king and of his great ones, saying, The man and beast, the herd and flock shall not taste of anything; they shall not feed and they shall not drink water. 8 And man and beast shall be covered with sackcloth, and they shall cry with strength to Jehovah: and they shall turn back each from his evil way, and the violence which is in their hands. 9 Who shall know God will turn back and lament, and turning back from the burning of his anger and we shall not perish? 10 And God will see their works that they turned back from their evil way, and God will lament for the evil which he spake to do to them: and he did it not

Rotherham(i) 1 Then came the word of Yahweh unto Jonah, the second time, saying: 2 Arise, get thee unto Nineveh, the great city,––and cry against it the cry that I am bidding thee. 3 So Jonah arose, and went his way unto Nineveh, according to the word of Yahweh,––Nineveh, being a city great before God, of three days’ journey. 4 So Jonah began to enter into the city, one day’s journey,––and he cried out and said––Yet forty days, and, Nineveh, is to be overthrown!

CLV(i) 1 And the word of Yahweh is coming to Jonah a second time saying, 2 Rise! Now Nineveh had become a great city to Elohim, of three days walking." 4 And Jonah is starting to enter into the city, a walk of one day. And he is calling out and saying, Forty days more and Nineveh shall be overturned." 5 Then the men of Nineveh are believing in Elohim. And they are calling a fast and are putting on sackcloths, from their greatest unto their small." 6 And the word is touching the king of Nineveh. And he is rising from his throne and is transferring his fur robe from him, and he is covering himself with sackcloth and is sitting on ashes." 7 And he is calling a convocation, and he is saying in Nineveh, By the decree of the king and his great ones, saying:Human and beast, herd and flock must not be tasting aught. They must not be grazing, and water they must not be drinking." 8 The human and the beast shall cover themselves with sackcloths. And they shall call with steadfastness to Elohim. And they shall turn back, each man, from his evil way and from the wrong which is in their palms." 9 Who is knowing if He will reverse, and the Elohim will regret and turn back from His hot anger, and we shall not perish? 10 And the Elohim is seeing their doings, that they turn back from their evil way. And the Elohim is regretting over the evil which He spoke to do to them, and He does it not."
BBE(i) 1 And the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time, saying, 2 Up! go to Nineveh, that great town, and give it the word which I have given you. 3 So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh as the Lord had said. Now Nineveh was a very great town, three days' journey from end to end. 4 And Jonah first of all went a day's journey into the town, and crying out said, In forty days destruction will overtake Nineveh. 5 And the people of Nineveh had belief in God; and a time was fixed for going without food, and they put on haircloth, from the greatest to the least. 6 And the word came to the king of Nineveh, and he got up from his seat of authority, and took off his robe, and covering himself with haircloth, took his seat in the dust. 7 And he had it given out in Nineveh, By the order of the king and his great men, no man or beast, herd or flock, is to have a taste of anything; let them have no food or water: 8 And let man and beast be covered with haircloth, and let them make strong prayers to God: and let everyone be turned from his evil way and the violent acts of their hands. 9 Who may say that God will not be turned, changing his purpose and turning away from his burning wrath, so that destruction may not overtake us? 10 And God saw what they did, how they were turned from their evil way; and God's purpose was changed as to the evil which he said he would do to them, and he did it not.

THE SECOND WORD OF YAH VEH TO YONAH
And so be the word of Yah Veh to Yonah secondly, saying, 2 Rise, go to Nineveh, that great city; and call out to it the calling I word you. 3 And Yonah rises, and goes to Nineveh according to the word of Yah Veh - Nineveh is a great city of Elohim of a walk of three days. 4 And Yonah begins to enter the city a walk of one day; and he calls out, and says, Yet forty days, and Nineveh is turned against. 5 So the men of Nineveh trust Elohim and call a fast and enrobe saq - from their greatest even to their lesser. 6 And word touches to the sovereign of Nineveh; and he rises from his throne and passes his mighty mantle from him and covers himself with saq and sits in ashes: 7 and he cries throughout Nineveh, saying by the taste of the sovereign and his nobles, saying, Neither humanity nor animal, herd nor flock, tastes aught: neither grazes, nor drinks water: 8 and humanity and animal covers with saq and calls out severely to Elohim: yes, every man turns from his evil way and from the violence in their palms. 9 Who knows? Perhaps Elohim turns and sighs - turns from his fuming wrath, and we destruct not! 10 And Elohim sees their works - that they turn from their evil way; and Elohim sighs of the evil he worded to work to them; and he works it not.

Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, of about three days' journey. 4 And Jonah began to enter into the city about a day's journey, and he preached, and said, Yet three days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. 5 And the men of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them. 6 And the word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from off his throne, and took off his robe, and put on sackcloth, and sat on ashes. 7 And proclamation was made, and it was commanded in Nineveh by the king and by his great men, saying, Let not men, or cattle, or oxen, or sheep, taste any thing, nor feed, nor drink water. 8 So men and cattle were clothed with sackcloth, and cried earnestly to God; and they turned everyone from their evil way, and from the iniquity that was in their hands, saying, 9 Who knows if God will relent, and turn from His fierce anger, and so we shall not perish? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil ways; and God relented of the evil which He had said He would do to them; and He did it not.

7 And proclamation was made, and it was commanded in Nineve by the king an by his great men, saying, Let not men, or cattle, or oxen, or sheep, taste [any thing], nor feed, nor drink water. 8 So men and cattle were clothed with sackcloths, and cried earnestly to God; and they turned every one from their evil way, and from the iniquity that was in their hands, saying, 9 Who knows if God will repent, and turn from his fierce anger, and [so] we shall not perish? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil ways; and God repented of the evil which he had said he would do to them; and he did [it] not.
NSB(i) 1 The word of Jehovah came to Jonah a second time: 2 »Arise and go to the great city, Nineveh. Proclaim to it the proclamation I give you.« 3 So Jonah arose, and went to Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Nineveh was a very important and large city, a three days' walk [from one side to the other]. 4 Jonah began to enter into the city, a day's journey walking, and he shouted: »Nineveh will be overthrown in Forty days.« 5 The people of Nineveh believed God and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 The news reached the king of Nineveh. He left his throne, and took off his robe and covered himself with sackcloth. Then he sat in ashes. 7 He made proclamation and published it in Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying: »Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not eat, nor drink water. 8 »Let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and beast. Let them sincerely call on God! Let them turn away each one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands. 9 »Who knows whether God will turn back and change his mind, and turn away from his fierce anger that we will not perish?« 10 God saw their works! That they turned from their evil way. God turned back from the deed that he said he would do to them. He did not do it.
ISV(i) 1 The LORD Again Calls Jonah to Go to NinevehThis message from the LORD came to Jonah a second time: 2 “Get up and go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.” 3 So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh to do what the LORD had ordered.
Now Nineveh was a very large city, requiring a three-day journey to cross through it. 4 As Jonah started into the city on the first day’s journey, he proclaimed the message, “40 days more and Nineveh will be overthrown!”
5 The City of Nineveh RepentsThe people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least important. 6 When the message reached the king of Nineveh, he got up from his throne, removed his royal garments, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat down in ashes. 7 Then he had this proclamation published throughout Nineveh: “By decree of the king and his nobles: No man or animal, herd or flock, is to taste anything, graze, or drink water. 8 Instead, let both man and animal clothe themselves with sackcloth and cry out to God forcefully. Let every person turn from his evil ways and from his tendency to do violence. 9 Who knows but that God may relent, have compassion, and turn from his fierce anger, so that we are not exterminated?”
10 God took note of what they did—that they turned from their evil ways. Because God relented concerning the trouble about which he had warned them, he did not carry it out.

God may relent and change his mind and turn from his blazing anger so that we will not perish." 10 And when God saw their works, how they turned from their wicked ways, he repented on the evil which he said he would do unto them, and did it not.

Croatian(i) 1 Riječ Jahvina dođe Joni drugi put: 2 "Ustani," reče mu, "idi u Ninivu, grad veliki, propovijedaj u njemu što ću ti reći." 3 Jona ustade i ode u Ninivu, kako mu Jahve zapovjedi. Niniva bijaše grad velik do Boga - tri dana hoda.
BKR(i) 1 I stalo se slovo Hospodinovo k Jonášovi podruhé, řkoucí: 2 Vstaň, jdi do Ninive města toho velikého, a kaž proti němu to, což já poroučím tobě. 3 Tedy vstav Jonáš, šel do Ninive podlé slova Hospodinova. A neučinil.

Fè yo konnen mesaj mwen te ba ou pou yo a. 3 Se konsa, Jonas leve, li ale lavil Niniv jan Seyè a te di l' la. Niniv te yon gwo lavil ki mande twa jou pou mache soti nan yon bout ale nan lòt bout la. 4 Jonas antre nan lavil la. Li fè yon jounen ap mache. Epi li pran pale ak moun yo. Li di yo konsa: -Nan karant jou lavil Niniv pral disparèt. 5 Moun lavil yo te kwè nan mesaj Bondye a. Yo bay lòd pou tout moun, malere kou grannèg, rete san manje, pou yo mete rad sak sou yo pou moutre jan yo nan lapenn pou tout mal yo te fè. 6 Nouvèl la rive nan zòrèy wa lavil Niniv la. Li leve sou fotèy li a, li wete bèl rad ki te sou li a, li mete rad sak sou li. Li di konsa: -Men lòd wa a ansanm ak lòt chèf li yo bay: Pesonn pa pou manje anyen. Ni moun, ni bèf, ni mouton, tout pou rete san manje san bwè. 8 Tout moun va gen rad sak sou yo. Tout bèt va nan lapenn. Tout moun va lapriyè Bondye ak tout kè yo. Y'a kite tout move zak ak tout mechanste yo te konn fè nan lavi yo. 9 Nou pa janm konnen, Bondye ka chanje lide. L'a règrèt sa li tapral fè a, li p'ap fache sou nou ankò. Konsa, nou p'ap mouri. 10 Bondye wè sa yo t'ap fè a. Li wè yo te soti pou yo chanje lavi yo vre.

Indonesian(i) 1 Untuk kedua kalinya TUHAN berbicara kepada Yunus.

6 Bo gdy ta rzecz przyszła do króla Niniwskiego, powstawszy z stolicy swojej złożył z siebie odzienie swoje, a oblekłszy się w wór, siedział w popiele.

4 E começou Jonas a entrar pela cidade, fazendo a jornada dum dia, e clamava, dizendo: Ainda quarenta dias, e Nínive será subvertida.
